wtf is up with my roots? *pics*

no im in flower, have been since i put em in the system. im heading to the hydro shop here ina hour or so, im going to look for something with pretty much all micro-nutes, or 14 other elements. not sure wut ta call em? haha

Be carefull with the H2O2, I bought 35% food grade peroxide and was told to add 5ml per gal in the res. At that strength (5ml to a gal) it only took about 2 cycles of 1 min on of the pump to make every plant in the system fall over sideways and all leaves fall limp. I'm using an aeroponic set up with net cups and no media of any sort. This was less than a 1/4 cup full of h2o2 in 17 gallons of water. After the initial panic attack I drained and refilled with water and flushed for an hour and all the ploants took back off except for a few leaves that curled up and died. Be Carefull!
 
yea, iv been really careful with it. iv been using 60 ML in 20 gal res,witch is about 3 ml per gal(was told to use 80 ml). my plants have reacted very good every time i add H2O2, but im a firm believer in LESS IS MORE. iv been thinking im going to use 50ml just to be safe.
 
i just picked up BIO-GENESIS Mineral Matris. its 100% organic... i talked to the owner of the shop for a few and he doesnt order synthetic addetives. BUT i think iv found a way around taking the H2O2 out of the system. i can apply the micro-nutes in a foliar spray. im just wondering if i have to worry about bud-rot or mold??
my RH is probly about 20% in the grow space... its really dry. have never checked the RH, but the runoff from my soil plants evaporate off the floor in less then 2 hours, so i should be okay, right?

the roots are looking good. still a lil bit of algea growing every few days tho.
iv fed them with the bio-genesis once. the discoloring has gotten a little bit worse, im thinking the foliar feeding wont show if its helping or not for a few days tho right?
 
yea, thats my biggest concern. today i deffinatly can tell the one spray i did helped alot tho. im freezing jugs of water tht im goona put in my res everyday to drop the temps. once i can get my water cooler i dont think i wont need H2O2 any more. iv got all light leaks taken care of, but my temps have been 67-69ish since the days started getting alot warmer.
the smallest, most infected plant got a few pistils burnt when i foliar fed tho, i think i may have to toss her into soil if she doesnt start lookn better soon..
 
Ditch the h2o2. use bleach and chemical ferts.

You will always have this problem in the room and unit you are growing in. Even with a chiller running @ 60 degrees. Bleach>h2o2

bleach just seems way to invasive to me. idk im goona give it a go if dropping temps doesnt help. but i dont have access to chemical micro nutes, my NPK soulution is chemical. but my local hydro shop doesnt order much chemical ferts.
 
plants cant uptake organic material, microbes break it into inorganic so the plant can uptake it, nothing is really organic if you think about it

tho bleach or H2O2 will kill most of the organic based nutes if i put em straight into the res....
i either gotta ditch the organic, or the sterile...? lol
 
i think you should bleach it and then you will know. commercial growers use bleach at higher levels then your gonna need to solve this problem.

My situation was never as bad as yours but an aquarium chiller and h202 did not solve my problems, only suppressed it for a while.

Bleach is normal in your local water. read the thread above. It saved my plants. If you would like to see what my plants look like after a dose of bleach them check the thread in my sig. (last post)

All you need is bleach @ 2ppm for an initial dose which is what is in the water anyways then drop down to .5 constant. Some chem ferts have chlorine added into the solution. Its been used by commercial hydroponic greenhouses over 4ppm for years.

If you use organics you must use bennies. Since bennies colonize the root zone of the plant having a detached reservoir like an ebb and flow is hard to grow in. Having a system like a drip feed where the nutrients drip through a rockwool slab acts as a natural bio filter so then bennies can have a large area to kill the bad shit. WHen I started using organics in my ebb and flow, the plants seemed okay because the bennies were at the roots but could not thrive in the reservoir.

i deffinatly want to try this. i mean bleach instead of H2O2. iv read through the thread, and a few links that were posted in the thread.
im a bit confused on what doseage i would use though.
im thinking 6 drops of bleach per gal.
but fatman made a post in a link from that thread, saying..... "As can be seen very little is added to the water. It works out to adding 1 ml or 2 ml of the diluted bleach to every 6.6 gallons of water. You can dilute the bleach to waht ever concentration you want that makes its use the easiest. AT 1/3 third strength one teaspoon of chlorox bleach is good for 16.5 to 33 gallons of nutrient water. Typically one starts with 1 teaspoon (diluted) per 16.5 gallons then every two days add 1 teaspoon (diluted) for every 33 gallons to replaced used through oxidation reactions and by outgassed chlorine"

is the dosage he mentioned for clorox bleach, or a product he is speaking of in the rest of the post?


and also, about using the organic micro-nutes. i have another idea... haha
could i turn my pump off, and pour a soulution of the nutes straight into the net pots sitting in the system, and run the drain tube to a seperate 5 gal bucket? would the solution be in contact with the root zone long enough to be beneficial?
i really just dont have cash to run out and get a better brand of nutes ATM, but really want this grow to be successful.

Yes its for regular unscented Clorox bleach which is 5.75% bleach. You basically want to reach 2.5 ppm for an initial dose and keep adding.5 ppm a day every 24 hours. Run 1ml for every 10 gallons to reach 1 ppm so 2.5ml per 10 gallons for an initial dose.
