wtf is up with my roots? *pics*

okay so first of all, this is my first attemp at hydroponics.
iv started a few threads asking Q's about hydro, but they all seemed to die off right as a new Q came up lol

but heres what im working with.

gravity fed hydro setup
1x 1000W HPS
8 clones ATM

20 GAL res
PLENTY of airation ( 2 stones, 1 in res, 1 in root troft, air line conected to water input tube also)

water temp - 65-68 constant
PH 6.0 ATM
PPM- roughly 1200 (blu moon nutes #1,#2)
pump runs constantly
H2O2 added

so i took these clones from soil and put em into hydro almost 2 weeks ago, they have been doing great =] adjusting well.
i had some brown algea starting so iv been putting 1 1/2 cup H2O2 in the res every time i change water.

but iv been noticing that there is this white ish slime on the roots? and only on the smaller less healthy looking ones. does any body know what this could be? and what causes and cures it.
iv been thinking its from having the pump on constantly, i havent had over/underwatering problems tho.
if any body has any opinions i would GREATLY appreciate it =]

What is the temp of your water?

65-69 F constantly

That is gross lookin, peroxide is what you need, mist the roots and add some to your reservoir every few days until it's gone. But you have to track down the real problem, I would guess it's light getting to the roods or water somewhere. Or it's water too warm, either way this is a result and not the real problem.

Lower the PH some too I shot for 5.7-5.8

can i use peroxide(H2O2) when i rinse the roots, or is tht just overkill? haha
but im covering my RES with mylar and taking care of ANY light touching water. i think water temp should be okay? but could the air being to warm inside the troft cause problems?

it's algea, and it is a pain in the ass to get rig of once u have it. h202 will not kill it. rinse them in cool water cut off any excess. add 1 tsp of bleach per gal of water everyday until it goes away or transfer them into dirt is the only way i know to fix it. i was set back months trying to fix it, bought hygrozyme and a bunch of other high dollar stuff. Use bleach. it works.

foilar feed them also, that slime is starving your plants from getting any nutes. The plants will feed off itself until it has nothing left.

i tried soaking the rots in a very strong h202 solution it did not kill it. alge likeso2 also. bleach or dirt those are your options.

yea i know its keeping em from getting sufficient nutes/water, but if i foliar feed the 1000watter will burn the shit out em, so i cud only do this befor lights come on, and right when they go off.

im using blu moom nutes.
went full strength 2 days ago, and discoloring is going away =]

can ya dim the light or raise it up , they need intensive care right now not blasted with light. I even considered puting a couple pleco's in my res to eat the shit.

i'm not familiar with them, so i don't know if this will help or not. i'm using cutting edge solutions nutes and there st. john's blend causes a white slime in my reservoir (i'm running ebb and flow so i do not have the problem you). i was assured by the sales manager that it wouldn't hurt anything and that it only happens in rare cases where there is something in the local water. so my idea is maybe you can omit something out of your nute lineup, or perhaps an osmosis machine. i really have no idea though, just trying to brain storm. good luck man that looks like some nasty, killer shit.

and pleco's? are those like snails or something? lol
iv wondered for a while now if its safe to put some type of snails of something to eat everything in the res?

plecos are algea eating fish. read up on aquaponics if ya go the chlorine route no fish or snails. but a couple fish is les than 10 bucks. worth a shot, snails multiply like crazy i wouldn't try them.

yea the nutes arent a very known brand, im going to ask around at the shop and see if it could be something to do with the nutes. and i use tap water in my res so thay could be possible. they have been growing about an inch a day, and havent been getting unhealthier looking. but thanks man, any input wutsoever is usefull =]

The start of it

one week later.

run physan 20 at 3 mil per 25 gallons, for 6 hours, drain rez and add a freshly brewed earthworm casting tea.
