Abortion is something they need to compromise on right off the top.
100% full pro-life stance is just not going to fly in today's America.
Fight for more regulated abortions maybe and damned sure the partial birth abortions (I am against that myself and I generally dont give a shit).
The immigration issue is huge. I personally think the laws are mostly in place they just need much more attention given to enforcing the laws.

I think you are right, Buck, that the Republicans are destined for extinction if they continue their present course. I also think the Democrats are destined for extinction. The Dems will die out when bankruptcy descends on the giddy masses if they continue to spend as if there is no consequence.

Oddly ... for the last 32 years the Magli pump has been on the other foot. It's the Democrats who have been the smaller spenders. The Reagan/Bush Republicans ... damned populists ... engaged in utterly reprehensible budgeteering. I have no reason to suspect Romney wouldn't have cooked himself (and the rest of us) a needleful of the same heady poison. cn

Give us a candidate who did not specialize in shipping American jobs overseas while making millions of $ from his actions.
Give us a candidate who would be willing to disclose 10 years of tax returns to the electorate.
A candidate who will own up to his accomplishments. (Obamney Care)
A candidate who will not in an unguarded moment be caught on video stating that 47% of the electorate are bums and mooches.
A candidate who takes a terrible American tradgedy and tries to 'spin' the tragedy for political puposes.
A candidate who will not visit our allies and tell them their country is one great big cluster fuck.
A candidate who doesn't shelter his American $ from American taxes when America is involved in two wars.
A candidate who doesn't have foriegn, off-shore accounts.

I know it's a pretty big deal, but for Christ's sake, c'mon GOP. You really didn't think you were actually gonna win, did you?

Karl Rove was in denial until the bitter end. Romney was allegedly writing his concession speech after the election was called. I really think they were expecting to win. :p

IAC, what counts is, one side's voting stance is declining and the other's is gaining. So, I withdraw that and restate.

Every election cycle, the losing party always says they have to reinvent themselves, this has been going on since I can remember.
In 2010 when the democrats got their asses handed to them in the congressional races, they said the same thing!

If cannabis growers were elected and wealthy customers were forced by law to pay $5,000 an lb, any elected grower that promised the less fortunate customers free weed that was subsidized from wealthy customers, that grower would be elected every time.

It's all about trading votes for free and easy stuff!

The thought of the Republicans going extinct doesn't bother me much. Their replacement might be more socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

Edit: both parties have a lot of dead wood.

Probably, but I was cautiously optimistic. Our spending and debt are out in the forefront more than they were back then (quite possibly BECAUSE of them). I think the knee-jerk reaction of our country in 2010 would temper both parties, but who knows.
