Hi I was wondering if this plant food could be used.. Schultz multicote time release all purpose plant food. 18(N) - 6(P2O5) - 12(K2O). I have 1 power plant in a CFL/LED grow box.

It can be used, but it's not very good. Looks quite strong and may need to be seriously diluted.
If you have a hydro store near by, get some standard general hydroponics. It's like $10 a bottle for the flora series..

I dont have a hydro store close by ...as far as what my medium is now, ( coco coir/ MG organic potting mixture.) I dont remember when exactly I planted it or what exact day it sprouted but as far as I can see its doing fairly well considering its in a cardboard box painted flat white, 3 2ft 75 watt fluorescent lights + 1 Red/Blue LED, 2 computer fans (1 blowing in 1 blowing out). I'll post pics as soon as I can get em on the net. Then maybe I could get a lil more critique on my small grow-op.

Thx for the help btw very much appreciated.
UPDATE: heres the pics. Like I said previously I dunno the age of it as I wasn't really keeping track.
Early veg pics
Veg 1 18/6
Veg 2 18/6
Pics of it now
Veg 3 18/6
Veg 4 18/6
Veg 5 18/6

Jack's Classic is reliable & cheap & available pretty easily. It's 20-20-20 and $10 to $20 to last a couple grows.

i have 4 seeds in a bag with a 1cm tip, is light a factor?

i have my growbox with a flourecent light and a 42 watt cfl, i plan on planting them in soil... so my question is "when i have a seed with a 1cm root how long does the root have to be before i plant it. and does light affect the seed before it has sprouted leaves?

thanks in advance

Plant it. Light will effect a tap root, not beneficially. I don't understand growing seeds outside of soil... but whatever. Do some homework and put your seed in the ground now man.

Thank you for your time. I know lots of different things can cause different yields I was just looking for a rough guess. I looked today and saw about five fruit looking fly's. I sliced up some tater's and put on soil, I heard that would bring up the bugs then put sticky tape around the base of plants. I was told the bugs could f**k up the harvest. Any better ideas on how to rid them? Again thank you for taking time to help us new guys.

Been having a major problem getting past the seedling stage. After weeks and weeks and countless dead seedlings I finally realized the plants were dying from dampening off. I swear if I can just get past the seedling stage I should be fine. I use the paper towel method to germ....that hasnt been the problem. What I really need is a step by step from taking the seeds from the paper towels and planting into soil. I have been using Happy Frog and mixing in some extra Perlite...probably 15%. Currently I have 4 seeds planted. 3 SLH and 1 SSH. I did not water the soil. I simply planted the seed 1/2 deep into party cups and sprayed with a spay bottle. I then put a ziplock bag over the top to keep the humidity up. I placed the cups on a heating pad and under 4 ft fluorecents T12 at 6500k. The room temps are a little cool at 68-72 however the bulbs are generating a little heat as well as the pad. I have just been misting the top with a spray bottle as it gets dry and recovering.

Have I gone wrong anywhere? This seedling stage has been kicking my ass and costing me good money on seeds. One other thing is maybe I should start with a heartier strain? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Okay, for a little while (until you get a grip on what's going on) I'm going to suggest you change up your method.

Get yourself a little coco. You can get a compressed brick of Botanicare CocoGro online for about $5 after shipping. So no excuses!

Expand the coco with some water. It'd be good if you had a little cal-mag plus around, but if not that's not a big deal. If you do have some add about 5ml per gallon to your tap water. This will charge up the media a little and provide just enough nutrition for the young plants.

Get yourself a seedling starting tray. They carry these in most, if not all, garden centers or plant nuseries. No need for a hydro store, but you might be able to find one online and have that sent with the coco as well. Home Depot is carrying coco now I hear, so you really shouldn't have an issue finding some.

Place you seed in the pure coco, no need for perlite. Set it about 1 inch down, 2cm or so. Cover it up and I like to put a 27w Daylight CFL bulb about 1 inch above the coco. Within 4 days you'll have the plant above ground and setting up leaves. Allow the coco to go pretty much dry (not all the way, but close) and then water it again. You'll need to repeat that once more and the roots should be healthy enough after about 2 weeks from planting to transplant to your soil mixture. Then they hit those organic nutrients and they should take off.

For what it is worth, I promise that doing this will get your spout to at least seedling stage. It is going to be up to you to keep the mold out of the grow room. Don't try to get the humidity too high, if I were you I'd be aiming for about 40% given the recent track record.

I will try that...what about rapid rooter of jiffy cups?? I would like to hear from others as well just to get a feel for what all is working.

Based on my description should the seeds I have planted now make it?

I don't like either as much as coco. The rapid rooters didn't work well for me with the germination rates, but germinated before hand I suppose that is okay. The jiffy peat can be too acidic and I've had problems with tap roots just burning out in them.

Based on your description though, you have had a mold issue, and it's impossible to predict if it will return. If every plant has died from the damping off then it is likely that this one will too... but not like 100%. Maybe 50/50. Just watch your humidity and don't over water and that will be about all you can do.

Humidity here is extremely low...I live in the desert. But i have read enough about dampening off that it is a fungis. I will head out and buy some coco and try it. I am wondering if my work area is possibly infected... although I do have other plants growing in the same area. Jalepenos and basil.

Hi
I could use some advice. I get my plants to the flower stage and start the cycle 12/12. everything starts well, plants start to bud with loads of white hairs everywhere......but then the plants grow flowers with white petals and pollen.

What do you think is causing this stress??

PLZ HELP, im going nuts.

thank you for the reply
i believe i have suffocated my seeds because i had them in a damp napkin in a ziploc bag on my cable box. i believe i had forgotten to leave air in the bag. i have added one more seed into the bag to let it incubate for a while but i hope i have not ruined the others. all growth of the seeds has stopped for more than 24 hours, are they fried?

Anyone used Farfard non nutritative potting soil? It has limestone built into the medium that keeps PH between 5.5 and 6.5. I am in the
landscape industry and Farfard is a good name. Just cracking a couple of Barney's LSD and a UFO Kanniba Super skunk? I think is the name.
I would hate to be waisting my time.

Never heard of it, never heard of anyone using it, never used it myself. Limestone is pretty easy to add yourself.

I'd hate for you to waste your time too...

Edit: I did a google search. It's called Fafard, it is Canadian, and their complete potting soil contains time release fertilizers. Those are a big no-no.

Miracle Grow can grow some bomb ass vegetables... but it doesn't make it ideal for Cannabis. Probably the same thing with the Fafard.
