Looking GREAT homer!!! how did the hamilton beach oder eliminator work?
hey smokey, it seemed to be working just fine yesterday. when i get home tonight i'll have a better sense, but first impression was good. of course, my girls are still vegging, so not sure how this will translate to flowering, but at least it's a start... i'll update on this tonight.

homer371, looking forward to the update! Glad your odor control is working! I used a quick and dirty homemade carbon filter, and it got me through flower. I also used one of the Glade Plug-In things too. Between the cheap ass filter I made and that, it was fine. Here's hoping you don't have to spend a grip on odor control!

thanks man! yeah, so i got home tonight and there was no smell. walked in the room, still no smell. opened the closet, stuck my head in, and yes i smelled some weed, but that's to be expected. so overall, not too shabby. girlfriend is happy too, so it's all good.

I love the "sticky hooks" idea. If you don't mind I'm gonna copy it for my first CFL grow (well first grow at all). I was going to try scrog but that just seems so easy, thanks.
also I saw a LST post hear earlier where a guy was using pipe cleaners. Nice and soft on the plant. Sounded like a good idea.

thanks archy! those hooks are great, self adhesive, support 1 pound each, and pretty cheap. quick question... did you ever untie your branches during flowering, or are you just keeping them tied down until the very end?

thanks optics, that branch is gonna need some help. i had to rush out of my place this morning and didn't even have time to splint it together... i will know tonight whether it surived or not... and for sure i will be doing a thread once i plant those seeds, no doubt! it'll be a while though, these two ladies are a handful on their own.
My girls will be in bondage till they get chopped. If i let them go they would shoot straight up. I am not sure if thats a good thing or bad thing but it is what I have to do to keep them at that height and out of my lights. I hope that doesnt hamper them in anyway.

hey aqua, welcome to the thread +rep. yeah, please copy the idea, i was actually looking for screw-in hooks like archminister had, but saw these and figured it would be easier to install, and it was! super easy, and the glue is strong, definitely will hold down those branches. the pipe cleaners sound like a great idea, i may look into those soon (cause i still feel the thin wire is cutting into the stems a bit). thanks bro!

no i don't think it'll hamper them at all. i was just thinking that after 4-5 weeks into flowering, they may be done stretching, but you're probably right, safest to just leave those ties on. man, i'm still super impressed at what you were able to do with that lst job... anyone reading should check out arch's thread.

pic update coming up.........

hey guys, just a few pics of the girls from this morning. they're really starting to fill in, so much so that it's hard to see the branches anymore.

here's blue cream. i used some string to stitch up the branch i damaged the other day bending too hard. i think she'll recover.

and amnesia:
a_feb1.x1.jpg

tomorrow i get to stay in in the morning so i'll have time to really inspect and see how things are looking under all those leaves and probably do a little trimming, and maybe one more lst. the branches are almost reaching the other side of the pot, so i think i'm just a few days away from switching to 12/12, shit's gonna get exciting homies lol.

peace

Homer,

Your plants look great. As requested, here are some pictures of my g13 x amnesia haze after 4 weeks of flowering. As I mentioned, this is my first grow and she has had a hard life so far. I am not really sure what it SHOULD look like, but I am thinking she is a little scrawny. Anyway, here they are... IMG_6691.jpgIMG_6692.jpgIMG_6694.jpgIMG_6693.jpgIMG_6699.jpgIMG_6697.jpg

I love it, all you need is a couple of bolts in Blue Cream's neck...Dr. Frankenplants Monster...lol...Shit dawg, things are looking good

I'm so glad I don't need to worry about odor, just let my girls smell up my room and I sleep in their stink...lol...Everyone here knows I Chief weed like an Indian, just not too keen to let everyone know I'm growing.

Also, Is your name Homer, Homer Simpson, or did you just name yourself after the Home Depot Mascot, he's a Homer too!

hey dread50, thanks for posting those. man, she looks awesome for your first grow! you can tell that's a pretty dominant sativa strain, with the thin leaves and all. looks like you got some stretch, but nothing out of the ordinary. how tall is she now? and did you top her? the last pic looks like she's got two main colas. and the 4th picture, that bud looks fat, nothing scrawny about that! now i'm really looking forward to seeing some of my own g13 x amnesia buds lol. she's looking good bro, you're gonna have some fat danky buds in another 4-6 weeks.

haha, nah it's just good ol' homer simpson that's all. yeah, bolts would be a nice touch. i'm gonna unstring her tomorrow and see if she's healed. that branch might be the one that got away... escaped my aggressive lst. i think i'm gonna have a nice cannopy with one runt sticking out the side lol.

dude i wish i could not worry about the stink. some day when i have a house with an attick or a yard or something... that'll be nice. peace bro.

Thanks Homer. I hope so. I do not know if she was topped - I got her as a teenager as a present. I always wanted to grow, but never got it together to do it, so my wife got me the girl as a xmas present. Then we had to run out and put together all the equipment. That is why she had such a hard early life. LOL. Anyway, I am really ooking forward to seeing what your plants look like in bloom. This is a great primer for my next grow...

man, that is one nice xmas present, lol. so you must've switched it to 12/12 about a week or so later? nothing like having a plant to motivate you to set everything up lol. likewise man, i'll look forward to some updates from your girl as well.

thanks arch, i'm about to post some pics i just took... one of them shows the healing wound. mr weed doctor, or dr weed doctor lol. i think she'll recover just fine, with a little scar to show off. that one branch looks like an ideal candidate for a clone, i just don't have the time to go through another veg stage... anyway, on to uploading these pics.

the girls had a rough morning today. many leaves were pruned, many branches were bent, but they'll thank me later on (i hope). here are the pics after the whole ordeal.

blue cream:

her healing wound, and the branch that looks like a great clone candidate (if i could)
b_feb2.x3.jpgb_feb2.x4.jpg

and here's g13 x amnesia. she's forming some huge nodes (scar tissue?) at the bending points. looks kinda cool! i think it means those branches are going to be monsters. that's a good thing, but also a bit scary... how big is this girl gonna get?

i might've over trimmed a bit. i got fiskar-happy lol. on the other hand, she needs to know who's boss. and that's homer371 right here.

here's what i trimmed off both girls:

one perfect leaf i put up for display :)

quick question for anyone reading right now...

after a stressful trim and lst, would it be good to give the girls a nice veg feeding today, or maybe let them sleep on it? (it's 2pm here)

also, another question...

i'm considering the idea of switching to 12/12 as soon as they recover from today's surgery...(like in 2-3 days). what do you guys think, too soon?

To answer your question..I usually didnt LST or manicure until about an hour or so after I fed or watered. I would imagine giving them water or a feed wouldnt hurt at all.

ah, that makes sense arch. i probably should've watered first, but i guess i'll give them a light water/nute now while there's still like 7 hours before lights off. thanks for the anwer bro.

Watering first is the best way to do it, let it sit for about 30min - 1hr to soak up some water and will make the branches softer.. Will allow you to bend and tie them down alot easier without breaking a stem..

good advice bro. i'm sure i've read that before, and i probably do that usually without thinking about it, but the reminder helps lol! next time, i'll water ahead of trimming for sure. man, this sour diesel knocked me around all day. 0.2 gram, vaped. 4 hours. potent shit.
