so im not sure but i think another of my ladies is a herm. Its weird all the tops have female flowers but the 3rd and 4th node down has what looks like little balls forming. is it common to herm on the same branch? I have checked i dont have any light leaks. im hoping that its not just all these bagseeds i got. I am gonna do another order from herbies here pretty soon. any suggestions on strains would be welcomed.
on a good note the last plant has shown itself to be female (for now o_O)

just keep a close eye on the one you suspect to be hermie, it will reveal itself and you should be able to catch it before the pollen sac actually opens.

even if that happens, it's not the end of the world, just a setback.

Day 52 - day 14 of 12/12
I'm officially down to 6 plants now and im afraid another may have balls forming too. but i guess i was shooting for 4 females in the end. The only thing that worries me is these last 2 had female flowers first then hermed on me. The plants have taken off. they are now all around 28" tall with one being 31". I hope they dont stretch a ton more I might have 10" until i need to start worrying about the heat. They look pretty and are starting to get an actual weed smell when i move them and rustle them around a bit.

I know this is a learning experience and these plants didnt have the smoothest start. I had a little heat stress. I also feel like i might be up against the odds since these are bagseeds. They may be prone to going herm. and thats why i found them in my bag. I hope this next batch that i got from herbies of lemon kush and the doctor are strong and dont herm on me. any suggestions on good beginner indica strains are welcomed :bigjoint:

I did a bit of work to the room that was much needed. I got the fan and filter off the ground and now they are hanging. I have a bit more optimal room but i can see how one 600w light almost isnt enough for my room. It will work for now, but i may end up with a 1000w hps to flower and veg with the 600w MH. I also did velcro around my doorway. its so much easier to open and close.

Here are some pics of the garden

any input or feedback is much appreciated.
any suggestions on good beginner strains that are tough to make herm. would be sweet.

Day 54 - day 16 of 12/12
The plants are starting to form buds. The smell when i open the tent is getting a little stronger. Im very glad I went ahead and got the fan and filter a little bigger than needed. I hope it works throughout the grow. The tops of a couple plants have noticeable frosting started. I got my digital microscope today and looked at 2 leaves that were curled the worst. I couldnt find any bugs they look healthy.
Heres a few pics of the garden.

these leaves make me think i have a sativa dominant hybrid.

My ladies are getting pretty tall for there room. I pulled a couple branches down a little bit. i am gonna need to get some stilts to hold up some of the branches. They stretched quite a bit on me. I have checked a bunch of leaves now for bugs but couldnt find any eggs or bugs. I think my twisting problem is a PH. My runoff from watering was very low. i tested a couple different plants and they had around 4 ph runoff :( . I have to wait for the plants to dry another couple days before i flush them i guess. The new growth looks good now though so im not sure what to do.

Day 16 - 20/4

I thought about making another thread for this grow but for now ill just do it here. Im gonna try to learn from my mistakes.
most have their sets for 3 and are poppin the next sets out. one of my doctor seedlings has a bunch of light green and dark green. It may be from me misting them with the lights on. And an afghan looks like it got a litle heat stressed. Im having a tougher time keeping the cfl veg room cool now. it stays around 80-82. Ive tried getting my room cooler but only last for as long as i have the door open and I cant leave it that way.
My wife has made me a couple fabric pots. I get the felt blankets for free from my work and it is exactly the same material. shes making them about 1 gallon about a 11" tall. I plan on transplanting them into these pots in a couple weeks. then into the 5 gals before flowering.

Day 56 - day 18 of 12/12

I have been feeling impatient the last couple days. It seems like they are slow to make buds and seem like they stretched more than i would have liked. They may just be a 11-12 week flower strain. time will tell. They do seem like mostly sativa. or they just stretched. I know i got a while still. when do most plants put on the bulk. is it just a continuous gradual thing or do they have spurts?
here are a couple pics.

they have gotten tall :bigjoint:

Grow 2 - Day 18 of 20/4
I decided to transplant the 3 lemon kush , 2 doctors and the WW into about 2.5 gal pots. They had roots sticking through the bottom of the jiffy pots. I left the 2 of the bagseeds, 2 reg afghans, 1 lemon kush, 1 doctor in the smaller pots for now. I plan on fitting the lemon kush and doctor into 2.5 gal pots. The other 6 bagseeds are just gonna have to make it in the corner of the flower tent. we will see but i think they might get the axe. I also added a pvc frame around the front and used velcro to keep door nice and tight and off the plants. I added my 15 cfm bathroom vent fan and have it venting onto the plants just to keep air circulating. I also put some flat white paint up instead of the panda film. It feels a lot cleaner and more permanent now.

They are looking decently healthy. A couple of the plants have the same twisting starting that i have on my first grow. I made a mix of about 66% perlite and 33% organic potting soil. I also added a few cups of dolomite lime into the 13-15 gallons worth of soil that i transplanted into. Im not liking how long it takes for my soil to dry out. It has been taking almost 10-11 days between waterings.
I bought a 5kg brick of coco coir that I plan on putting some plants into. Ive been reading about it and I think I might like to try it.

Here are some pics

before transplanting a few

after

This is the doctor with wierd coloring. Im thinkin it was from spraying with water and light was too close.

any tips or suggestions are appreciated

Grow 1 - Day 58 - day 20 of 12/12
I measured the plants today they are all 31-35" tall. except one shoot on one lady is 41" tall. I had to do some rearranging because it was about an inch from my filter. I have my light as high as i can get it. I have about 18" from the tops right now. I may have to do some training outward. I also added some support stakes to my plants. They dont need them yet but Im hoping they do. A few plants are starting to build a decent amount of trichomes. Its been really cool watching the buds develop.
here are a few pics

Starting to get frosty :weed:

A view of both rooms.

looking great.

your question about when the buds pack on weight: it's gradual until the last two or three weeks, then they "finish". you'll know it when you see it. they really fill out and ripen at the very end.

seedlings look great. the ladies are getting tall, you may have to 'supercrop' a few branches to keep them down. that is simply squeezing the stem until it gives out (without snapping) and just let it fall over. it will form a knuckle at the place you squeezed and start growing back up again, but it will shorten them a bit and buy you time.

cool fabric pots by the way!

thanks for the reply. you have been a bunch of help so far. its nice to have someone responding. I will take your advice on super cropping them. should I bend them outward away from the center of the plant? Im nervous to break it too much. ill watch a couple videos and hopefully not mess it up. but they are definitely getting tall. Thanks on the pots, I actually wanted them smaller but the wife made them this way so im just going with it :)

you should be nervous, it's your first grow!

you shouldn't break anything when supercropping. you just squeeze the stem. you'll feel when the stem 'gives'.

i've broken a few stems when supercropping by accident, sometimes you can fix it with a little splint and some tape, sometimes you can't. supercropping is lazy man's canopy control, there are better ways to do it. but this will work in a pinch (pun not intended but welcomes nonetheless).

as far as bend inwards or out, that's up to you. wherever you have room for it really.
