ok guys so my trim/popcorn is drying out nicely, thermos is on delivery. quick query, you know how you freeze material then add butane to it let sit and stir etc, what if i had two thermos and simply poured through a coffee filter into the second thermos? trying to think of better ways to up the yield. or should i play safe and do multiple runs before adding the ethanol?

Cheers!

multiple test runs will find you your best fit solutions for what you gots to work with. have fun! careful though. when i'm all danked and buzzed up, things get a little off for me

are you saying instead of straining just one thermos onto something to evap off, you want to re-use the same butane to soak a 2nd batch in 2nd thermos?

i wouldnt use a coffee filter then, strain would probably take too long in between containers.. instead a stainless steel mesh filter seems like a good tool, (cooking strainer)

i would use that again to pre filter it before the final coffee filter as well. :]

post pics results. gooood luck.

yeah that's exactly what i was planning on doing, but possibly adding more butane to the second container. though i guess a metal sieve for run 2 and 3 then a coffee filter for the last.

i always do concentrate stuff relatively sober ;)

probably got a few ounces of sugar trim to do so hoping for a decent return. oh and pics for sure!

i put a load of dry ice down the toilet a while back after doing some kief shakin and my gf went mental, apparently you can quite easily crack the bowl lol. looked sweet having a bog like a witches cauldron.

no toilet = demons

haa.. you catch my interest with the dry ice tek..

ive heard of ways of doing a dry ic shake, in a bag, then doing a soak of butane on that shake material collected.. alas winterizing(optional)..

supposedlyyyyy the best way to get bestest biggest absolute returns..

have you experienced heavy returns on the dry ice kief shake process?

hahah thought so 1.8 it is. and yeah I covered my dining table with kief with the dry ice, it was super fun! but the hash was kinda green, i think i over shook it. pressed into some nice hash though. i didn't know i could butane it at that point.

I have access to some good spirit and ethanol now though. it's on;)

another noob Q here, how important is the quality of the butane going in if i'm going to be winterizing and filtering after the ethanol wash? getting good refined butane locally is a pain:(

ok I'm a little fuzzy on WHEN and what temperatures before "winterizing" or adding the Everclear (or ethanol).

so my idea of how the process goes:
have a hot water bath set up, with a glass pyrex on top. Blow the product into that pyrex as it's on top of a heating pad in a hot water bath. At what point do I add the Everclear to winterize???? I have read that you are to remove from the hot water bath, and then add Everclear, allow it to mix up, THEN place product in freezer, and then pour after 12-24 hours into unbleached coffee filters. Then you do a final hot water bath purge, and then vacuum oven to get shatter.
Please, I am a newbie when it comes to do this whole winterization process, and I just got a vacuum oven, so any tips would be amazing (or just leave the thread that I need to go to!)
Basic questions:

Should I blast into a pyrex dish that is in a hot water bath BEFORE adding Everclear (190 proof)?
When should I add Everclear into my blown product (after it's done with a hot water purge with no bubbling? or before I start any purging at all?)?

AFTER adding everclear and waiting after 24 hours in the freezer and AFTER pouring into unbleached coffee filters, can I do a hot water bath purge with my square pyrex that is another pyrex? Or should I only do the evaporation of 175 F on top of my boiling water?
Finally: After doing all that, scraping into my oil slick pad, and placing in my vacuum oven....how the heck do I get the shape of my oil into a square or nice form to manipulate after my shatter is done purging?

I know it's a lot, I just want to see if I can get any answers to help make a superior concentrate for me and my friends with my sugar trim
