a small update guys

its day 19 for the northern lights. i transplanted her into the new pot 2 days ago.. i took 2 rectangle food boxes, cut the bottom of one of them, and attached it to the other one so i would get one taller box. i grew the LSD in a 5 liter box, and the new one is 6.5-7. hopefully this will make the buds bigger! i gave her the first dose of nutes today, 0.5ml of BioGrow for 1 liter of water. i will top her tomorrow or the day after, after it settles in the new pot.

DSCF2581.jpgDSCF2582.jpgDSCF2583.jpg

the rest of the bubblelicious is still flowering! its the end of week 7. i will probably cut it in a couple of days. the smaller lower nugs fattened up a bit more.

DSCF2584.jpgDSCF2585.jpgDSCF2587.jpg

also, i put the dried buds in a jar to cure. dry weight is 10.5 grams. with the rest of the plant it should be around 15 grams, maybe more. i'm happy with that! usually i dont taste my weed before cure, but this lady smelled so good, that i had to do it! i rolled a spliff and man was i high!! the taste is good but still a bit harsh. a good 2 week cure will fix that for sure!

have a nice weekend fellas!

EDIT: i'm in the market for a vaporizer, my first one! any suggestions? what do you guys use? i've heard good things about the extreme q (the newer v-tower vape)..

avrum,

This is such a clean and organized, professional setup. Your plants do the microGrowing community great justice. The harvest turned out beautifully.

Also, I don't think anyone would mind harvesting that a second time. Are you having fun?

Is it correct to understand that this was the first grow in your speaker-box? Are you pleased with its performance? Do you have changes in mind or revisions for the next box?

Northern Lights is good smoke and it grows like a shrub when topped early. Awesome.

As far as vaporizers go, look for one with a nice digital thermometer and not-chinsey heating element. The quality thermometer is the key, most heating elements get the job done.

Happy growing.

P.S. Your medium looks like coco. Would you be able to post your soil mix?

Dude thats a legit micro grow! :weed:

Vape? If you're looking for a personal whip style I've had both the hot box and currently the Da Buddah Vape. I would spend the extra cash on the da buddah because it has the temp adjust meant knob. :P i love it.

But yah if you vape with friends regularly you should go for a bag style, if you have more than 2 people on a regular basis the whip gets annoying compared to a bag.

oTm, thanks again for the compliments! yeah, harvesting the same awesome plant twice is not that bad. :) plans are to cut the rest of it today! trichs are around 50/50 cloudy/amber.

actually, my first grow in this speaker was the LSD i showed in my first post. this bubblelicious plant was grown in the PC Case until i chopped the LSD and moved the bubblelicious to the speaker, a month ago. thats why its in a smaller pot and i'm only getting ~15 grams out of it.

the speaker box works pretty good.. a couple of things bothered me, and might be changed in the upcoming weeks:
1. my light traps are blocking a good amount of airflow, making the box a little too hot when its not too cold outside. i might change the setup. i've got a few ideas in my head.. i might change the traps, or maybe get a plexiglass and put it between the lights and the plant.
2. the lights arent adjustable. i'm thinking about doing a scrog this time, so i'll have to figure something out, probably build an adjustable light setup, if i find the time to do it.

about the medium, its a soil mix i got in the local hydro store here in my country (not the US or UK) mixed with 50% perlite. i have no idea whats in it, but its probably the best i can get around here.

and yeah, Northern lights should be awesome! its amazing how much rep this old strain got over the years.. cant be a bad smoke! and above average yields too! i topped mine last night.. i will update pics later.

so you're saying i should look for a vape that can show its own current temp? i guess thats indeed a must.

BlazedMonkey - thanks! my use for the vape is going to be mostly personal but friends do come over for a session quite often, so thats important too. i've heard good things about the da buddah.. but it doesnt have the bag option, or does it? did you hear something about the extreme q? http://arizer.com/ - i can get it on ebay for 200 bux including delivery.. not too bad for a highly rated vaporizer, and it has both whip and bag options!

alright guys, there she goes for the last time.. or does she?!?!

DSCF2588.jpgDSCF2590.jpgDSCF2594.jpgDSCF2595.jpgDSCF2596.jpgDSCF2593.jpg

25 grams wet, nice! should be 5.5 grams dry (i just divide by 4.5, usually its right on the money). that will make a total of 16 grams dry from this plant.

i put her back to reveg in the PC Case, so this aint the last time u see her!

DSCF2597.jpg

its day 21 for the NL. as ive said in my previous post, i have topped her, and put her back in the speaker.. i still need to figure out if i'm going with lst like i always do, or try a scrog.

Deam looks great. I am curious what will come out of reveg. Do you need to transplant it as well? Maybe a bigger pot with fresh soil? Happy new year my friend! And happy smoking! bongsmilie

im so curious too!! this is my first reveg.. i probably should transplant it but i need to save space in the pc case for clones so i cant use a bigger pot. i'll take the plant out of the pot and add some soil at the bottom so it will have atleast SOME new soil to grow new roots.. should i cut some of the roots to stimulate new growth? anyone with reveg experience? i couldnt find a single thread about reveg from start to finish!

maybe you have to shake the plant when you take it out of the pot that old soil get out of the roots. And when you say so I started to think that I really haven't seen anything about reveg. It is like legend what no one has seen :D

Yah da buddah donent have the bag option. I heard of the extreme q and highly considered it but i remember reading about the glass being fragile and a couple people referenced it breaking. Just a thought you might want to look at :P

avrum,

Great second harvest. Let us know how it smokes.

As far as the revegging, you've got your eye on the right issue. Root development is the one thing that can hold back the process. On another site, there's a thread regarding "bonsai moms/mums" that brought up some applicable issues here. The author said "make your bottom resemble your top". If you seriously trim your plant or take a bunch of clones, shave off 1/4 - 1/2" of the root ball and transplant to a smaller pot. He did this by taking a bread knife and slicing the edges and bottom of the entire soil mass when removed from the pot. Others have done this by gently shaking the soil off of the roots and trimming 1/4-1/3 of the rootmass, starting with the longest ones.

They key is to encourage new root growth and the best way to do this is by trimming the roots and repotting into a smaller container.

Also, a drastically different light schedule will help, 20/4 or even 22/2. As long as she gets some rest she'll adapt.

If you make changes to the box, share them?

Happy growing.

cool beans oTm. so i'll just take it out of the pot, and cut the sides and bottom, and re-pot it with new soil. is that right? I changed the light schedule to 19/5... thats drastic enough from 12/12, isnt it?

i will always share as long as people want to see!

avrum,

That's it. Use a bread knife to slice 1/4-1/2" off the sides and bottom. Sprinkle some new soil on the bottom of the pot, plop her in, fill the sides, and grow on! She'll love it, as well as the 19/5 light schedule.

transplant time!

i shaved the sides and the bottom, and put her in some fresh soil. hope it works, it was brutal! after the transplant i gave her 1ml/liter of BioGrow and ALG-A-MIC. now we wait!

avrum,

You did it! Did you end up finding that thread "All about bonsai moms/mums" or did you just go for it? Either way, that's a high quality root pruning and hopefully she responds appropriately.

Growth gets a little weird during the revegging but keep at it and she'll turn out to be a cool plant - really branchy and great for clones.

"A grower's skill is exampled by the cleanliness of the grow room." - Your organization and professionalism never fail to impress.

Happy growing, keep us posted on the reveg!
