$450 is for the whole hood, ballast and light setup. The bulb itself is $150 msrp. So it will probably go for $120 which is still a bit expensive IMO.
I just got my catalog for Hortilux and the 600W system from my wholesaler come with both the a 600w veg MH and the 600ws CHPS. From the order form (The EYE HORTILUX'" SE 600 Grow Lighting system includes Hortilux 600W Ceramic HPS and Hortilux 600W Blue Metal Halide lamps.)

So retail you're looking at $575 CDN for the Ballast/Fixture/2 bulbs which is weird for Hortilux and their premium prices. Only thing is when you have to replace the 600 CHPS which looking at my cost I'd have to sell it for $150 CDN at which point its hard to swallow for any hobby grower. Seems they prices it so that it comes close two 2x315 CMH bulb price.

I hope to test this light soon.
I was about to and even have the clones but been busy and left the clones in the box under dim light and they're not doing so good lol. I was going to do them under 2x315 and 49 LSD in 2 gal pots. Flip them right away with no veg. I think I can save the clones just busy and too lazy atm to put up the 5x5 tent.

Can you run these in a regular hood? My shop guy said you need the whole setup cause the ballast is different and you can't have glass blocking the light.

I also didn't like the fact that you can't air cool these if you use their hood and ballast combo.

He was wrong. These go in normal hoods according to hortilux if you want to and they run best on the hortilux gold eballast. I'm betting they run on any 600w ballast though but the gold ballast is actually fairly cheap so who cares.

Yep. And honestly just look at the bulb it's a mogal socket. It's made to be a easy and better solution to the cmh. They sold a lot of packages to start for some reason but they work individually. I'm considering running some myself next summer when more results come in.

I checked the site. It doesn't really have any pertinent info on whether they work with regular hoods or not. I may try one either way tho.
