Hortilux Ceramic HPS - Total trash?

Yeah i cannot agree more.

Eye hortilux claims the ceramic HPS has 50%, yes 50 fuckin percent of the radiant output is in the IR range of 720nm to 1120nm. Then they justify it by saying PAR is useless, so it's fine.LOL

They might grow some excellent quality bud due to the PAR spectrum it does have, and the Ir might play some weird role too. But if 50% of the output is in the Ir range, i cant imagine yields are great at all
I mean you know it's ~25% efficiency on paper, so the fact that it has lots of IR is already baked into that efficiency number. I feel like you're dinging it twice. Of course to say PAR is useless kind of goes against everything I've ever read.

I don't think anyone here claimed that it can't produce quality buds, just that it probably yields poorly when compared to HPS.

Grown with that awful CHPS.....

Any more updates @The high chief ?
I saw your grow you did. The quality seems very nice, but as @churchhaze and I just said, the yields just wont be all that great. Ceramic HPS is 25% (luminous) efficiency, and probably has a REALLY low umol/joule output. Having 25% efficiency and the fact 50% of the radiant output is IR means the umol/joule or PPF/PAR output of the light is gonna be shitty.

It's pretty funny how they wont even provide the umol/joule or PPF output of the light. They know its garbage. If I had to guess, considering this is just as efficient as normal HPS lumen wise, the par output is around 0.5-0.6 umol/joule LOL

Like this is 2018, why does something like ceramic HPS even come out when the market is in the direction it is going with LEDs and CMH?

CMH probably grows better bud than CHPS and is gonna yield way more per watt.

I wouldnt place that bet. Hortilix is a name brand not a shitshow. They wouldnt spend money developing a product that will hurt their name imo. Am i going to buy this? No. Is it good to see ? Yes.
Imo led as it is being sold is the real ripoff that needs burnt to the ground. But more light options are better for us overall.

Because i use 1000 watt ballasts i have already bought and im not likely to be buying anything new any time soon. I want to buy a gavita de hps, its priced at 250 ish on amazon for the 220v all included.

If these bulbs ran on my current ballasts id be way more interested, but thats also kind of what i say about led. Imo there is ZERO reason a led cant be made to go in our hoods, its all a scam tho. Just my point of view tho.

Lol dont be an eyehortilux fanboy. Yes their super HPS bulb is the one to use, and they have the best MH bulb for flower (spectrum below)

However, it doesnt mean all their products are worth anything. Have u seen there shitty LEDS LOL? Had one eye hortilux fanboy tell me that they are amazing because eye hortilux spent years of research on them. Well, their research was SHIT lol. honestly the biggest failure ive seen from such a respected company.

You did not see nothing of my grow, that's not my grow...
Whoops. Yeah my bad. Wasnt you lol. But I saw that very grow. It was a comparison next to a super HPS.

Lol why put LEDs in a hood? A hood is for 360 degree light sources like bulbs. LEDs direct ALL their photons downwards in a 120 degree beam angle. A hood would do literally nothing lol.

First, i think you need told to put some respect on it. Using words like fanboy isnt gonna get you the info your looking for. Second... if all you can come up with is that leds are directional your missing the WHOLE reason. If you wanna claim to know it all then just sit there knowing it all. If you wanna be chill we can have a conversation

I do respect eye hortilux, and think if you dont use their super hps bulb and you're an hps grower you're shooting yourself in the foot. But they arent the best light company by any means. They dont provide any PAR data for their bulbs. That's a sin.

Explain why a hood would assist with LEDs in a reflective tent? Especially when reflectors/lenses exist (which in a tent should never be used). You want the photons to reflect as little as possible optimally, as reflection causes a massive loss of photons after a bounce or two.

K ill show you the same respect then. Fuck off.

Lol what?

Just curious why you think a hood is needed for LEDs. Not being disrespectful lol. Genuinely curious.
Because then i could run 1000 watts of led through a cooltube. Or the leds could be bars, homestly theres TONS of reasons. Air needs moved, traditional hoods do it well.
First you called me a fanboy then demanded info.

Well you should have mentioned a cooltube haha.

Very valid point though. But a cooltube isnt what you'd wanna use since the glass eats 10% of the photons. A vented hood of some kind would be best.

It seems though that running about half the wattage of LEDs (to replace an HPS bulb) warms up the grow space just as much as using HPS with double the watts in a cooltube/vented hood. Just food for thought.

My thought isnt what needs fed...
