What exactly is it that we feel ? The effect is so profound , enlightening , elevating , transcendental....spiritual . I'm somewhat of a neo-Taoist ( Daoist ) , a hybrid. Mother anchors me...
This is a very deep question. I don’t follow any cult like Daoism. Instead I don’t think about coining myself a certain way. Maybe it’s the moment makes me feel everything finally makes sense . when the perfect combination of feelings encapsulate my spirit : visually, emotionally and physically. When all I see and feel elevates me and makes time stand still . I have been quite fortunate to visit some of the most amazingly beautiful places on this planet . This coastal trail was spectacular. At one magical place along the trail the ocean was actually sparkling with bright blue glitter while a whale tail kept splashing behind it.

Daoism is the furthest thing from religion or cult ( same thing to me ) that I detest. There is no structure , formalities , decrees , praying , ceremony ! It's merely a focus on nature and that's it . Your comment really threw me , I thought wtf.

Thanks raratt , that comparison of Taoism to a cult really was disturbing , very upsetting, really hit a big nerve. I've been down that religion/cult ( synonymous to me) road as a youngster in Catholic school. I still am pissed about the shit they tried to cram into my head , the brainwash. The instilled guilt , intimidation , control , chastising and aggressive pan-handling. Taoism is simply a way of life that revolves and focuses on nature , not a plague on humanity. If people are embedded in religion and it gives comfort and joy that's great but count me the fuck out ! The miracles, lessons and truth exist in the sacred grounds and sky of the great outdoors.
......................Cult my ass !

I'm not upset with you , I like shooting the breeze with you ! I just did not wanted to be associated with a cult/religion ( same thing to me ). I abhor that shit..........ran that gauntlet as a young boy.......still pissed off about it. I'm sorry for venting about the post , very inappropriate. I was throwing a tantrum like a dumb ass I think your cool.....funny and very creative ! Let's stay in touch , I'll behave and not be a drama queen.

Hiked the Mist falls trail in Yosemite yesterday. Got to the first falls and the lake and ate lunch on the rocks D0FE1F1B-3B55-4825-9080-D0C7AC236D92.jpeg35101B05-E8E4-45FE-B395-DE893077DC0E.jpegsoaking my feet and staring at Nevada falls up in the distance . We absolutely should not have hiked up there but it was too beautiful to say no, I shouldn’t . I have been trying to set boundaries for myself but Yosemite is like so heavenly I just want to devour it all. We suffered so much physical and mental pain accomplishing the hike. but fuck, We did It! It was a Absolutely Incredible.

Incredible shots, surreal , ya even caught a rainbow. I'm jealous. I'm happy for ya ! Life doesn't get any better . On the trail .....detached.......wood,rock,water and deep blue sky......what a f'ing rush playing in " Mother's " backyard ! It's luring, intense, euphoric and downright spiritual.

I wish I met someone on the trail as excited and happy as that guy about experiencing something so cool . Most of the people I saw and passed on the trail wouldn’t return a smile and seemed emotionless. We stayed at camp curry 2 nights in a tent cabin. It was an interesting experience but I don’t think I would stay at that location again.

@BarnBuster summoned me from the abyss, so here I am back in my old stomping grounds. I've been back on the reefer and less on the drink lately so I've had RIU and the fine folks here on the brain recently anyway.

Here's a picture of me taking a picture on a hike. I wasn't actually taking a picture, I just thought that would be pretty meta and it was a good vista so I posed and asked my buddy to take a snap like most instagram tools. That was a bitch of a hike. I prepared for a 3 hour go round as per the hiking blogs and websites. It was about twice that and there were so many mosquitoes they came in clouds. Actually had to drop and not drink most of the beers I was carrying to make it up there and back. Good views though. Those little run-off ponds look pretty clear from there but they were dirty as fuck. Being paranoid and not trusting my probably expired purification tablets, didn't have much water for the trip either.

This is another hike I went on a bit previous where I had a stupid fucking mustache that you can barely see. That and the box of wine were not good ideas in retrospect.

Is that Oregon or Washington state south of Mt Rainer? It’s a nice area. Surprised the water was dirty like that because it looks so remote but I do recall When I hiked North Cascades Mountain Loop Hwy east of Granite Falls Washington I didn’t want to drink even pumped water because of polluted due to years of mining in the area .arsenic and other heavy metals. Nice to see you back and doing well.

That is Battleship Mountain, outside of Hudson's Hope, British Columbia (Canada). They probably wouldn't let me back in Washington after my last trip there.
