DIY with Quantum Boards

Been reading through some of the older posts on this diy and came across this post that gave me the idea I should change how my 132's were wired... All 4 of them were in series now I have two sets of two in series that are parallel with each other...

However do not connect 3 boards in series. That exceeds connector voltage and i don't like playing with 300+ DC voltage unless I am building a time machine or particle accelerator.
Then I read someone elses post where someone advised them to put their led strips in series claiming it would halve the amps used...

Would having these series save power?

Robin was probably talking about the 288 boards, the 132s are lower voltage and it says on site (least on the v2s) Max 10 boards in series, it also says 4 in series on HLG240-c1400/1750

Thanks man, guess I should have figured it would have that kinda info in the product details

Looking back at that post, man how time flies!
These things are going to be weak, you can probably come within an inch of these lights without any issues, they wouldn't bleach and your main issue would be directly touching and burning. I wouldn't bother growing plants with this as the main light source, better as side lighting or a novelty item.

Lol yeah I read a bunch of his shit talking, I haven't gotten to the part where he admits he's wrong... If he ever does lol
I don't think he does get round to that bit, he just stopped logging on. Mind you he could be back, he often goes awol for a long period.
He was known as the biggest LED troll , funny thing though outside of LED threads he was alright, even saw him recommend LEDs a few times.
Think he got burned by blurple tech years ago and never got over it.

Im a terrible judge of people though, I think 99.8% of people are great. bongsmilie

Those elite96's definitely pulling the weight. You can clearly see almost double the growth in the corners.
Itz a little misleading as there are 9 different phenos/strains in that raised bed.

Ideally.. I would have the canopy a lot lower for a better blend of light.. Not 4-5 inches below the panel. No bleaching though

Just an update on my first HLG 320w Rspec harvest. Well over 1000 grams wet. Should net me a pound or better which will put me in the the 1.5-2g per watt area. Some of the prettiest and most dense flower I’ve ever grown. Few pics I grabbed while I was trimming.
Real nice looking nuggets. Haha.

The name slips my mind, I remember it starting with an A I think... His Avatar was a Purple/Pink light beam in a "V" shape. Can a tone remember who I'm thinking of?
Just looked back at the first threads in the LED forum. @Chronikool you've been around a LONG TIME.

Hi all....

Just got some qb96 elite boards. Will these boards with red diodes cause stretching issues if used in veg?

Will they create more stretched plants in general?

Thanks

More than if you grew them with a cooler color, but it wouldn't be a huge issue. The red light also causes leaves to expand more so they'll start to absorb more light and form a seamless canopy sooner, which can be a good thing very early on when the plants are small. It's not a bad idea to have red and far red light in your clone/mother tent because clones are nicer when the node distance is longer and also you can pre-veg the clones in there to get maximum leaf surface area so once they go into veg they will fill out the canopy more and waste less light hitting the floor in early veg.

High PPFD light behaves almost exactly the same as blue light, so you can use red at high intensity and it almost completely counteracts the stretch. So just do that.

Quantum love ......

Welp , the GOJIBERRY came down , she was a bit into week 9 and pulled the plant to scope it. Triches were all pretty cloudy with very little amber . Noticed that my Quantums might have been a bit cranked up on her as there was some Fox tailing and pistil growth at the bud tops. She really stopped drinking , so figured it was about time.

She was the “ supposed AUTO “ that I had to flip because it did not preflower on its own. I did a very rough trim on her and will leave her in her bag until I get around to cutting stalk. She went thru full fade but did not drink anymore as of 3 days , so here we are.

Very VERY STINKY GIRL .... Deep musky sweet spice. She stinks up the room all by herself. I will leave her in the dark for a few days before I cut her since she’s not really doing much anymore and will cut her in a day or two. Lower left branch got torqued ( oops ) .

1 gallon grow ( bag )
Soil ( FFOF / EB Stone 420 / Great White Myco )
Soil Ammended ( before planting ) with Dr. Earth Life Dry fertilizer ( 5-5-5 )
Topdress ( FFOF ) at flip .... Top dress again at week 4/5 of flower
Calmag / kelp watering
PH 6.5 -6.8 tap
Quantum 96s ( 320w ) .... Pure Par Agromax/ 10000k finisher ( Sunblaster T5HO )

Been on a 1 gallon grow bag kick lately since I am space restricted for the time being and lost access to a whole room ...
( kids left nest .... then fucking came back ... ) SOOOOO .... been try to grow as healthy and in more conservative spaces.
Pretty happy with overall size of it so it looks like the layered soil mixes are panning out.

KKP ( Durban Poison x GG4) ....
This is really the only female I got out of 5 beans ... rest went male . Harvested pollen from one and shitcanned the rest.
Shes around 5 weeks in and is throwing a bit of purp ( California cool temps ) . Tops “ look “ bleached but are not ( iPad camera sucks ) . Smell is sweet but you have to damn near be on top of her to notice. Densing ( not sure if that’s a word ) pretty well . Lowers were not really cleaned up cuz I want to use those in some kind of topical project. ( for my back )

Same size ( 1 gallon grow bag / same soil mix ) .... great white myco has really made these girls pop off !
Looking at getting MYCOCHUM to feed them next. SOLO cups are GSG plants .

Since I don't have any plants in flower at the moment I drilled some holes in the side of my angle aluminum to make my light look a little nicer, it was pretty messy with the wires dangling on the side and I didn't like it.

I was wondering if any of you like connectors other than these wago's? I would like to make my light look a little less homemade but I would still like a connector at the board to take it apart there

Put rubber grommets in those holes to protect the wires. All you've really done is created a short circuit waiting to happen.

I guess maybe, they would have to rub quite a bit to do that, they are pretty solid in their place
I also used a rat tail file on the opening, its not sharp.

If they were solid in their place they'd have a grommet. Even if they don't look like they're moving, they're going to vibrate from whatever fan or whatever is vibrating the tent. Cars have a grommet anywhere a wire crosses through sheet metal, and it's not because anyone is tugging on the wires inside your dashboard. It's because of vibration.

@TravisG13 your light layout is almost exactly what I am in the process of trying to build. How thick is the aluminum sheets that you are using? and how many watts are you running?
