The side yard is only an acre and a half. Need to find someplace else to put this shit. It will fill up in a hurry. Other than the front yard, the only open land on the farm.

I’ve got 2 ghost gums that will fall this winter it’s been a really wet start to winter and there leaning but makes for really good fire wood. If I didn’t have so much on my plate I’d make a dining room table, as we are in need of a new one. I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old they have left their mark per se. Maybe I will summer may bring motivation.

I saw ghost gums in the (San Francisco) Bay Area. I found them exotic and beautiful. I wanted a windrow of them.

We have about 40 on the property the previous owner planted them but he put some in boggy part of the land. Which didn’t work out to good but has resulted in a steady flow of fire wood.

I worked on the pond road late into the night Tuesday. Left the chain saw at home, but did cut some smaller stuff with the hand saw.

Mostly I stacked firewood and piled brush that I had cut a few weeks back.

This was the next morning as I was walking out from the camp. You had to go around this section before.

I cut another of the close to the house trees yesterday.

DSCF2265.JPG

After it was on the ground, I stepped it off. 57 feet tall. Then I stepped off 57 feet toward the house. It came within a foot of the ac. So if it had come down, the back deck, gutter, window, roof and siding would have all been in play.

The big cedar tree near the old corn crib on the pond 40 is down, but still alive. It stopped my clearing on that end of the road. Will wait to cut it until I can get it cut up for lumber. I can do a go around pretty easy. There are 2-3 other big trees I'm going around for now.

I cut the last three trees that were threatening the house this morning. So I can put away the ladder, chain and come-a-long for now.

Also cut about 15-20 more leaners further back.

Trees have been falling everyday of late. I heard two break and fall as I was walking from the car on Saturday. The wife saw one fall yesterday when we were having a thunderstorm.

I've been putting this off for 9 months. But this morning I worked on getting the three 12 foot sections of pole barn roof pulled apart and moved over by the lumber and tin piles.

I screwed some 2x6's across the end, and pulled with two chains. {I took the precaution of not pulling with the RFM's back wheel mounts, which I have heard will come off} Did not work out exactly as planned. Pulled the screws out where I had wrapped the chains on one side, and it was pulling uneven.

So I changed to the hayforks, and added a few more two by's in the center. I chained it in place, lifted about a foot and pulled. The end section pulled free and I was able to make a really big loop and park it over by where it will be stacked once I take it apart.

I took a break, ate half a melon and smoked a little Ass Cheese Blues. Everything was going so good. . . . . . . . . . .

I screw several boards on the other end, chained it all in place and put the tractor in low gear low range. When I pulled away, both sections came with me. I made a big loop and parked it over by the other section. I guess I will have to hook the other end to something and rip it apart. No way to flip two 12 foot sections at once.
