No pictures, but I got a few more trees down and cut into 8 foot sections behind the house. {had to move a stock gate with concrete encased post attached, and a roll of wire before I could proceed} All were leaners, and I cut them at the ground. Stumps are a pain in my ass at the moment.

Moved a few hayfork loads around to the side yard. The wider loads had to go around by the road. Need to cut a pathway, since it's a lot longer going by the road.

the Committee accepts "hayfork" as a reference to grass, and thus approves the timestamp on this post.

The pine is not too bad on the forks. You can back under the bigger stuff, then pile the side limbs on top.

But the mess I was working on this morning was a pain in my ass trying to stack. There isn't many bigger logs, so there is no backing under it. You have to stack it all.

The roofers could be coming any time from Monday on. So I figured it was time to move the brush I had cut by the shed. I should have started sooner. What a bitch to work with. I got all those in the foreground moved, but will have to use the tractor to pull some of the bigger trees out of the vines.

We had a windstorm around here a few days back that blew over some big trees. Guy was killed when the root ball from a massive Pine flipped back on him when his partner cut the main trunk on a leaner.

Lots of folks are hurt and killed after the storm. That is always something to look out for.

I can't remember the names anymore, but there was a hurricane that came when Mamma and Daddy were out in Colorado Springs when Sister was having her baby. {my niece is 35'ish now} There were lots of those around the house. We cut them from the top, so it would go back over gradually. I was young and dumb, and did ride a couple of them as long as I could keep my feet.

I had to crawl under all that with the saw. . . . . . .Got most everything of any size cut.

Didn't get a picture of the after, but I pushed all that as far away from the shed as I could with the hayforks. I have a good 6-8 feet cleared now. Will have to deal with all the brush later, but the guys have room to work now.

I did get a little sidetracked this morning. Worked a while getting a path from the side yard to the back yard cleared. I noticed this tree was ass end in the air. About 90% of the broken trees are pointing west, and this one is pointing east, so I bet it was a rebound break.DSCF1910.JPG

All the trees pointing north are on top of the others, so that was late in the storm when they came down.

This was where I stopped at the other day. I cut a few of the stragglers {anything that was still green} today, but didn't try to move the pile. Rain this week, so don't really expect the roofers for a while.

I had saved this tree as yard art. Yesterday the wife noticed it had dropped a few feet. I had been driving the tractor and Kabota under it. Not anymore. I had only left two limbs as props. Should have left more, or added some support. Haven't decided if I'm taking it out or not.

I got a few pines behind the house down and cut up yesterday. Also some of the stumps. Cutting right at the ground is a chain stretching son of a bitch. I have to stop and tighten the chain after every stump.

Also worked on clearing the firebreak between the pines and the rough {woods}. Didn't get much done, but it's a start. If the rain stops, will have to get all the firebreaks cleared and plowed.

No work today. Back.

Moved 4 loads of pine debris in the back yard. I'm still going around by the road. Really need to get a path opened up to the side yard so I can save time.
