It would have only taken a minute to ease the pressure of it if I could get the tractor to it. But it would take a day of work to move everything I've cut the last few weeks. So I had my handsaw, crowbar and screw driver. Took a while, but got everything loose and cut the tree up. Well, I have either 1 or 2 more cuts, but I'll wait to see how much the tractor will lift. The main trunk is 3-4 feet across, so I don't want to make any extra cuts.

I take it the tree was leaning on another tree/bush?
There were 5 or 6 pines in the mix. By their placement, some came down before, during and after the big tree. 2 were doing a seesaw impersonation 15 foot off the ground.

That was a side limb I was hung up in. This is what it looked like right over my head. Nothing concentrates the mind like a couple of tons of oak wanting to come crashing down on you.

That's tough to figure out, even going up from underneath could pinch a bar. Glad you finally got it out.
Sister's saw did pinch on the undercut. The weight of the tree pinched it with about half an inch still left to cut.

Check out the cuts in the picture with the saws on the other side of the limb. The top cut widened at the bottom, the others narrowed at the bottom.

My boss is a piece of shit, racist, homophobic, white pride fucking loser who thinks he's king shit because he got himself a house in the suburbs he can barely afford. Really just fuckin wears on me day after day, I cannot stand him. Its to the point where I just wake up in the morning and hate having to get up and go into a job I otherwise dont mind. I've worked my way up a good bit here so to leave would mean starting from the ground up, when economically its not looking like a good time to be doing so. Coworkers are great, work aint bad, just this motherfucker. LIke, picks the most low hanging fruit jokes to make fun of people and thinks hes hilarious.

just had to vent and get it out. whatever, fuck it. only gotta be there during work hours. then i go home to my wife, dogs, keg beer, and plants. life aint awful, just this miserable son of a bitch.

You at the right place brother.

My boss ain't the greatest in the world at her job, but she leaves me to do my job as I see fit. It is the island in the storm for me right now. Everything else is upside down, but I can go to work, {hang out on RUI} and forget about my problems for a while.

The roofers came back and finished the sheds, and the odds and ends on the house.

Also got some of my tractor issues dealt with. Waiting on an ignition switch for the 3940.

A forester came out today to look at the timber. Don;'t know the numbers yet, but they will pay some on debris removal and replant. Up to 75% on replant. In theory it could be 100% of debris removal, but I really doubt that will happen. We signed up, but can opt out when we find out the final numbers before signing a contract.

Well written piece. Pretty close to home. I used to hunt on some land that the Leonard's own today. His FIL was buddies with my great uncle when they were young men, and he allowed me access to the land across the river from our land.

The FIL had a ton of timber land. Not long before he died, I was asking about a plot I had seen being cut. He said, "you know what? They found 290 acres of hardwood I had forgot about."

I have a new gig dealing with all aspects of hurricane recovery. It's just like a year ago, too much to do at once, so hard to get started. I've mostly chainsawed, pulled weeds, piled shingles and swept off decks.

I've talked to my buddy who is a handyman about helping me. Used kayak launching rights and camping as incentives. Need to sort out the power to the pump before we can do too much cleaning. Will call my contractor buddy soon for roof quotes.

There is a river view there with the right amount of work. Not sure how open I want it. 4 houses right across the river.

I go in early on Fridays, and I didn't want to get into anything serious down at the river house. So I worked on the firebreak between the garden and longleaf pines, cutting some dead pines, and working my way up this big oak tree. Didn't really do much, but this is about the first work I've done at the house in a month.

I hadn't thought of the little trailer that goes behind the riding mower for the last 13 months or so. Now I will have to proceed with caution when I go to pick up this pile.

I know I said I was going to let the folks who sucker fish clear the creek road, but I did work on it for a couple hours yesterday morning. The best run of suckers is the full moon in February, so barely a month away. {the creek may be too high to put a wire in anyway}

A few more trees had fell across the road since I was last in here.
