H.A.F. growing stink-flowers in dirt with QB's

So based on that premise, the gen-hydro kicks ass vs the dyna-gro for the basic line.
The GH is granules/powder/crystals - whatever bongsmilie and you only use portions of a tsp per gallon even at full bloom
3/4 tsp at full strength mid flower - which I don't do.
And it ain't gonna go bad like liquids will

Because of the fact that it is going to last forever and I am not throwing it out, I got one extra (liquid kool-bloom) just for this contest and it uses 1ml/gl - another score. It smells like animal vitamins if you've ever been down that dirt road... and must be really concentrated

Anywho - I think that in the industry now, there probably isn't a bad nute line. I'm done with that. So for me the Dyna-gro is out, just because I am not investing in a complete nute additive line to make it as good as the others - unless I win a few boxes of it in the competition, which changes that math.

I am used to the Fox Farms stuff but after a year I am starting to get low on a few things. I have only had to buy extra Big Bloom (the main nute) so far.
I have had success with the FF line... Damn. and the gen hydro stuff should last a while :wall:

So fuck all that. Long term I am sticking with the FF stuff - plan wise. It makes fat buds. But now that I am decided, I am going to dig deeper into suitable cheaper replacements for at least some of the additives. 'Kelp' me..., 'Mackerel' fish fertilizer, etc. I can read ingredients and find copies, as long as it's from a reputable company.

Now I need to use up a bunch of nutes. I don't throw nuthin out. Figure out how to mix and match the main veg and bloom stuff together.

I think the fact that the FF Additives are what I have right now is the main deciding factor...

But if you're starting out, get a good line that's got a good 4/20 sale or whatever for the complete line to get started, then go from there. Don't buy a different sample pack from another company after that, they suck you in...

tremendous difference , F.F. is a quality nute
I am going strictly by their schedule (but like half strength to 3/4 on the NPK heavy stuff) even adding to Bembe sweetener because it's on the list and I have it. You can check out their feed schedules for soil, the gringo only has that trio of nutes, and the 3 crystal nutes (Beastie Blooms etc), The FF Trio has EVERYTHING including the crystals. So the difference will be interesting.

I'll get a side by side of the 2 FF plants in the contest next time I have them out watering. They grew much differently in veg, height, stretch, spread, trunk and limb thickness, leaf color, basically everything. As of this minute the buds on all the tops on both plants look identical. stuff under the tops is different because of the stretch, but that's about the only difference.
How they get their NPK I think has had more to do with the growth, structure, stretch, etc. and the extras will determine the difference between flowers. But the Beastie Bloomz, Open Sesame, and Cha Ching are definitely producing the fatness.

Stoner idea I'm writing down so I don't forget.
I should get a similar size/shape mason jar (like little jelly jars) and have one top per jar.
Put in in so it stores jar-lid-down with a Boveda pack in the bottom - and the bud right-side up.

Good watch
https://hightimes.com/grow/growing-exposed-episode-12-treedom/

He makes a good point at about the 10 minute mark that might be the key to my success.

"It's all about the veg"

I have never had major issues in veg, and the minor ones have been easy stuff that was fixed before flip. But even though I have had many issues during flower that caused ugly leaves, I have gotten a good harvest.

Then I finally get to the end of flower with a healthy plant and I am thinking about new ways to store them ;)

Even my contest plants that are getting a little on the ugly side leaf-wise all have pretty flowers. And I only have to get them to survive another month or so.

Last chunk of budder from the last batch which was all first run keif, and this one where I used the first and second run.

After trying both, I feel no difference at all in the effects. The new batch is more "fragrant" ;) and has more flavor but it doesn't taste different (like grassy or anything) just stronger.

So as a practicing connoisseur (and practicing, and practicing...) both could be useful depending on what you were doing with it, and if you like that nutty decarbed weed flavor. I think that it is just getting more of the terps or whatever that are in any veg can fit through a 120 micron screen.

I just remembered that the NL and these guys started at about the same time and were in the same set-up in the other room.

And here's how the manifold ended up after an 8 week veg.
1 strait cola pruned until flip.
1 topped early, then each pruned until flip
2 with an early shoot left on, then pruned until flip like the others.IMG_9385.JPG
And she was my only NL seed, so the long veg was semi-intentional. I wanted fat stems before I flipped to get fat buds ;)

If anyone wonders why I post random ideas on here, there are a few reasons. I welcome constructive criticism about them, and I look at them later to see if they were a bad idea.

Like flipping that whole closet when 2 of 3 plants weren't ready.

I need to rearrange the intake ductwork for both closets since they are both in the flower room. I rigged together these wooden "ducts" with light baffles out of crap that I had on hand, but I want the skinny metal duct that fits between wall studs to at least be able to get rid of the shelves. I'll gain 2 feet in height, and I will probably need it when the NL stretches.

I may have to rig something out of thin wood or plastic instead for now. Hell, cardboard and foil tape might do it...The issue is when to do it. They are dark all day, and I don't have room to stuff the them all in the other closet with lights on. So I will probably have to just shove them in a dark bathroom while I work. Pain in the ass, and it puts you on a tight schedule.

I also need an adjustable fan rig like in the other room.

Your contest plant is rocking! I'm done 'discussing' the grow on the other thread - I don't see an upside...

To be honest, I wish I had done just one or two plants and kept doing what I was doing, instead of creating an unnecessary challenge. I don't think they get that. I used small pots (mistake #1) and flipped early (mistake #2) to keep them small so I could grow 4, and still have to deal with crowding and airflow. Next update pic they may have a lot fewer fan leaves just because of that, and it will probably affect the bud-size - but hopefully they will be healthier with better airflow.

I have leaves that have gotten spots from being against the wall, or being pressed together with no movement, and gotten leaf issues that had nothing to do with the plant...

The only upside now is that I'll be harvested, cured and giving a smoke report before the contest ends if all goes well. Bust out the microscope camera for some glamour shots of the finished product...

In general though. I am waiting to drop more seeds until the smoke clears. I need to get back to an easily manageable rotation. The contest was supposed to be fun for me, and just taking pics of want I regularly do. Fucked that all up ;)

Thanks haf, your plants are looking good too. After seeing how my plant is acting I’m definitely not doing a “just see how it grows” plant again.

Anyway, feel free to follow. I update my shit in here constantly - it's more like a journal/blog thing though.

Fun fact:
I wish I got a pic, but I am rearranging my tomatoes to try and make things better. I had a 5gal growbag setting on 2 cinder blocks, but with the holes facing up so it drained. there was a MASS of roots between the pot and the soil, protected from the light, and kept humid, and looked like someone showing their roots in a DWC system.

Now the stoner-logic shit:

PPM - there are recommended ppm (by week) for each nute schedule I've seen. No one divides that by pot-size, plant size, etc. lots of assumptions and room for error.

If I mix 2 gallons of water with nutes at 500ppm, but I put it all through a small 2 gallon pot and it filters through the soil, what happens vs putting that same 2 gallons into a 5 gallon pot?

I think this is where my issues have been.

Looking at most recommendations for how much run-off you should have (about 20%) when you feed, should that be the major factor in how much you mix and feed for the whole week? Seems likely.

So if I need to feed my plant 500ppm because 100PPM should be run-off and 'filtered' by the soil, then the AMOUNT you water is key.

I have been flushing and low ppm (cal-mag, silica, and Boomerang) watering for a week after the flush/feed just because of the leaf issues.

If I concentrate on recommended ppm PER WEEK - and the fact that they have been burned - and the 2 gallon pots needing water every 2 days:
I think that giving them 2 50%ppm feeds then just RO will be better than feed-water-water.

If you have any comments, PLEASE!!!

So here's the outdoor crop
IMG_9394.JPG
and the indoor is stretching like mad
IMG_9397.JPG
This is mainly a test grow for next year, with bulk to make up for errors. Next year fewer plants, selected strains that worked, and a raised bed garden with overhead supports.

Now I am going out to nap in my hammock with a fatty and a few cold ones. Happy Monday!

I feed every water , been feeding to ( N.W. Jay schedule ) every 2 days , 5 gal. pot , 1 gal. water with 1/2 recommended nutes ,
with exception of higher Potash & Phosphorous during flower .
Day 56 , she's getting there ! :)

to tall , need / want to keep them low like yours , but learning more and more from your knowledge ! Keep it coming , :)
That height is all about flipping it as soon as the manifold is set - not letting it stretch except what happens after you flip.

Watch what happens after you flip. It's gong to stretch, then stop and start putting out pistils. No matter how tall it is, if you clean all the shoots off up to the top before you flip, It will grow one or two more in that stretch period, then flower. There are no lower nug sites to steal food and energy.

Since my NL got treated the same way before flip, but was a long veg with fatter, taller stems I want to see if that is how nugbuckets got those long tall cola that are fat top to bottom.
