DIY with Quantum Boards

Will try out these boards in 2x2.5 tent when i get pre drilled heatsinks next week. 2 boards on a HLG-120-C1400 170watts would be more than enough.

For now here is the update in Veg /Herb Tent.

Robin can you put two heat sinks aside for me ? I have the same driver and two boards just waiting on the heat sinks. This is also going into a 2x2

Alright I've settled on these guys for a new light and I'm looking to hit about 1100 ppfd in my 32x32 pheno test tent. I've got drivers and I think I'll put em on aluminum plate, so all I'm really gonna want is the boards. I plan to drive these guys at 50~ watts, 6 boards should do it?

I wonder how hard it would be to move the driver outside of the grow space with these ? All I would have to do is extend the lead wires right ?

Also I have a HLG-120H-C1400 to run 2 boards in a 2x2.5 x 6 tent. Do I use the internal pot on the driver to adjust the power output of the lights if I even need to ? I have a kill a watt to plug into to see the power output.

Yes if it is type A driver.

Yes you can extend the DC side to remote mount the driver.

Seems to me that, IF the general idea behind getting the most out of LED lighting (for growing cannabis), is to under-drive multiple emitter arrays, then the trend is going to be leaning away from using big COBs and more towards using something along the lines of these boards...simply because you can put more emitters into the same space -thus creating a more even coverage scenario...and they are poised to be in particularly great for the small-space growers -cabinets, tents, small rooms, etc. No noise, low heat, high efficiency, low maintenance, high safety...sounds like great idea! I hope to try one someday!

Add a thinner profile too = more head space.
The way I see it is if you were to cluster all the chips on the boards together you would have more than the equal number of cobs thus better light spread. I'm looking forward to getting the two boards I have built

Boards can be wiredin parallel. That way the DC voltage is not too high.

These Molex connectors are rated 9Amps and max 300V

For series connection you can connect up to 2 boards in series. The voltage is higher than parallel, other than that this config works fine too.

However do not connect 3 boards in series. That exceeds connector voltage and i don't like playing with 300+ DC voltage unless I am building a time machine or particle accelerator.
Hi Robin !
When connecting 2 boards in a series I cannot get both of my boards to light up ? 120h-1400A driver, Connecting just a single board "tested both they work fine" Any ideas ?

The guys are hooking me up with a big custom order, I can't wait to get them and put them through their paces. Got a trick or two up our sleeve about the build, too- should make things interesting.

6 boards on a HLG 240H 2100 will do the trick within 3% of what you are looking for.

What drivers do you have currently?
