Hi captain,

Your setup is really sweet.... It makes me interested in adding 730nm light to my tent. Do you think I can get away with the light you linked in a 3x2 area? How high above the plants is the light? Thanks and keep up the great work!!!

Just to add my 2 cents on the 730nm, but I just ordered 3 of these ledengin 10W far-red leds mounted on stars from mouser:

And this driver to run the 3 in series.

I'm excited to try 730nm pulse at lights out.

@mc130p

you can just make your own, if you can do the cxa's you can do the stars. You can get 730nm leds on stars from a few places now (steves,cutter,mouser,newark) either single die or 4 in series on one chip.

edit: @churchhaze beat me by 10 seconds, I notice there is a
LZ4-40R300 and a LZ4-40R308. the 00 version has a 1.1 degree C/W and the 08 version is more than double that at 2.8 C/W.

The 00 will run cooler and more efficient.

You should see my attempt at a 730nm led from 2008. I used... some fairchild... surface mount, very low power leds where i don't remember the model. they were absolutely pointless.

I figure if you're only going to keep them on for 15 minutes at lights out, even a huge efficiency gain would be almost negligible in terms of total energy usage. The fact that they're bright enough to do the job prompted me to just go already. I've clearly wanted one since at least 2008. I guess it could take up to a decade to finally decide which models of leds you're going to buy.

Seems like LEDEngin has been the leader in far-red without even trying.

I almost ordered some of the LZs but wanted to hear what ppl thought about them stacked up against the Steve's? (Epistars)

A little goes a long way,the 10 watt floods I have will cover a 8'x8' area. I usually put mine on a side wall and point them across the canopy.

A 4 liter pan full of nice sized LSD buds.

No time tonight,so I'm not sure when I'll get to it. I can't see going 75 days when using 730 nm,it's suppose to be 65 days I think,but the 730 usually takes a least a week off that.
