Day 2

It's day 2 and they are still alive. Yes! Yesterday I bought some school supplies and some gifts for my plants. I got 2 jars of Grandma's unsulfured molasses and 2 jars of yeast to make a CO2 dispenser for the case. In addition, I am going to move the light schedule from 20/4 to 24/0 because it is a little cold in my house (at night around 66-69) and I'd rather keep them hovering above 70 until it gets a little warmer. I would just unplug one of the fans but they are both on the same power adapter. Without further adieu I give you my ladies. Stubby and Lanky (it's official now.)

haha Well each day they're still alive is another day to be jubilant!

Anyways, I wanted to make a carbon filter... So I DID!

Oh and this wasn't the big secret I was working on. I fucked up and made it too big so I may just make another one but I don't need it quite yet anyways. Didn't need the carbon filter either but why not? The case is about 2 degrees warmer so it's running at like 76ish during the day.

This makes it more stealthy! She can't hear the exhaust fan as much, there isn't a BEAM of light shooting out of it now either! And now it hopefully wont smell at all! Plus ill just say its a big ass plug lol dammit millyy I thought you would be pleased to see this!

I think its great, i was just wondering about the stealthyness lmao. Usually computers don't have huge thing sticking out of them. Only kidding good job on making it bro, hopefully it wont smell :D

Yeah but why would my mom be inspecting the back of my computer is basically why I don't think it will be a problem. But the fan really isn't pushing a lot of air out of it so I may have to make an adjustment pretty soon because the box stays like 10 deg over room temp which is fine since the house is at like 67 to 70 but when im flowering I don't want it to get above 80ish. 85 is the max before I start worrying. Ill update after I get back from work, I didn't check them this morning so im hoping they got some good growth last night.

Day 3

So I am faced with my first few problems as a beginning grower.

1. Lanky fell over
2. Temps WERE too warm with the carbon filter

1. When I was taking my plants out to water them, lanky just fell flat on the soil. I looked at the stem and at the very base it looked as if the stem had been been twisted like a twist-tie and was VERY thin. I packed the soil a little bit above this spot to hold her in place while the stem gains some strength soon (I hope). The slow growth of Lank told me something was wrong before I even touched the pot though. Let's hope it fixes itself.

2. The exhaust fan is not strong enough to push air through the filter so it was just being forced back into the case. I took it off and temps dropped immediately. I'm not worried about this right now since the smell won't be an issue for a few weeks. However, I need to either look into stronger exhaust fans or use a different cup/mold for the carbon filter so it isn't so dense that air can't be pushed through it.

I watered them both with a gallon of 6.5 phd water and added a tablespoon of molasses.

Stubby is doing wonderful as far as I can tell. Shit, the light just went out... oh well computer is still runnin' lol.

Lank is the first 2, Stub the 3rd.

Edit: Don't mind the attachment type, I can't upload more than 3 damn pictures for some reason.

Today is only the 2nd time I've watered them since keeping the soil just a lil moist when they were germinating. The stem seriously just looked like someone had pinched it and had no way to stand up. I think it will recover just fine though. I'm basically doing the stick your finger in the soil check for watering.

Day 4

Just got back from school. I need to get a tape recorder and find a way to post a clip of my Western Civ professor. He's Irish.. nuff said.

Anyways I was pleased with the growth of Lanky and Stubby over the night. Lanky's leaves are a little bigger despite the weak stem, so that made me happy.

Stubby is developing her 2nd leaf set as you can see.

I also put another dvd underneath the pots since I believe they can take the additional heat no problemo. Temps are running about 74-78 and I'm still going 24/0.

I took a soil pH test and it is just where I want it at 6.6 +/- .1.

Day 5

Good news and bad news.

Bad news is that Lanky's stem is still very weak and she fell down when I took the pot out to examine the very mild growth. Tonight I'm going to put a stake in and tie her to it because just pressing the soil near the stem isn't helping. I'm worried about doing LST on her, but I hope in a week or 2 she will be stronger.

Good news is that Stubby is doing amazing. Bigger leaves everyday.

I ordered a new fan for the exhaust, and I still need to perfect the carbon filter. It's a 120mm fan that says it is silent but with the filter attached it will be muted significantly.

I will probably give the plants a watering with Superthrive in it tomorrow or the day after depending on how dry the soil is.

Pics 1 & 2: Stubby
Pic 3: Lanky (bad pic, yes. Didn't want her to fall again.
