They call people like Donald sociopaths for a reason, they fuck up every social situation by putting their own interests above the common good every single time. A comatose POTUS would be better than Donald, keeping the post vacant would have been better, the federal government has been rendered worse than useless as far as helping the people goes anyway. The pandemic was a test that Donald, the republicans and a good portion of the American public failed and continue to fail with deadly consequences.

They have trouble dealing with reality even when it is bitch slapping them in the face and mother nature stomping them into their graves. In the end reality wins.
