Track your Grow with your Computer

Alright I've been going through this forum for quite some time now and I have noticed a few things.

1. People type an entire post, click one button and loose it all and,

2. Creating a journal on here is great, but I know some of you have a paranoia about posting your grow online, yet you still would like to track you grow on your computer much like the growers on here.

I have found a FREE solution to this problem. It is called iDailyDiary. I am in no way connected to this company, I just found there product and use it. Another product like it, is Microsofts OneNote, but it's like $99.

As you would guess it's an electronic diary, but it has some great features. Like being able to encrypt your grow log if you share your computer or just wont to keep others out, always a plus. Also, you can have multiple journals and it comes with a decent search feature in case you have a few grows under your belt. You can add pictures and hyper links too. This will also keep a hard copy of your journals for you which is a real plus, now you can type your journal out and include pics (if you have them) and save it (has an auto save feature built-in), all without having internet access. Forgot to mention that it also has a calendar built in so you can go to each day with just a click.

I know this wont be for everyone and there are multiple ways of doing this without this piece of software, but having this has made it easier for me. I can log multiple different grows and have them all in one searchable place that I can keep locked for my eyes only. The free version gives you all this and they have PRO version too. i wonder if they make an iphone app
That would be cool, there are tons of ways to log/ track your grow. They actually have gardening software that can help you log your entire garden on a huge scale, but none of them are free.

No problem. Fair warning though... it is VERY new. Some of the buttons are not working yet, but will soon. Post feature suggestions on CodePlex.

Herb.iq is very cool. I can run it in a VM but is there any chance for a LINUX version?

Any other software of this type for LINUX anyone is using? I have a simple spread sheet for Open Office but nothing as cool as Herb.IQ.

I don't have a need to run it in Linux, so I'll be focusing on other things. I didn't find much on running .NET apps in Linux. Found this but I'm not sure how it works... and it doesn't look like it supports .NET 4 anyway.

Have you tried Wine?
Unfortunately WINE doesn't support .NET 3.5 or 4.0 so it wouldn't be able to run the app. I thought about making it a windows form app so it would be supported by linux and macosx because I know other growers who would use it but I don't have a need for it myself either so it wasn't a priority. There is also the mono project which provide the .NET framework mapping to linux but that also doesn't support WPF (with no plan to) so it wouldn't work with that either. If there is a large enough need once the project is finished with a stable release I can spend the time making a .NET 2.0 port that will run in linux/macosx using mono.
