Thinking about going bubbleponics? This should convince you...

I think it has to do with root growth. If they don't have to look very far for water they won't grow as much initially. Slower root growth=Slower plant growth. Bubbleponics is about speed(in the early stages)
I think thats the theory

inflexion is absolutely right. If you rais the water up to meet the roots, they will get all the water they need and grow just fine, but by giving them a slight trickle and a gap of about 2" to the actual deep water, they will grow faster in search of this water. This will establish a root system a couple days earlier than regular DWC and the plant will keep this head start throughout its entire life.

so by this logic, Aeroponics is better than DWC

I couldn't tell ya. I have no experience with aero but I have heard that it does not match the growth rate of hydro.

??? aero is hydro... right? and i've heard that aero has the fastest growth of all but in my experience DWC grows much quicker and is more forgiving

:D I was thinking, for the first 4 weeks of DWC, you could just raise your water level to meet half way into the net pot. This would essentially do the job of a separate pump that makes bubbleponic "trademark."

anyone disagree?
You don't even need to do that. You can use the bubbles to get much more control per the link below. This is the better method and it has been used by DWC growers for years - but there was nothing to trademark.

Raising the water level to halfway up the netpots will drown your plants. You need to have real air below the crown (where the plant meets the roots). The bp system is best run with the feeder tubes in the middle of the rockwool cube to provide that air space. The water from the feeder tubes is run at a trickle as to lead the roots down to the res. Roots will always follow the water.

they could actually and literally drown . Even if they didn't , you would not get the same affect. Did yu see the pics comaping the DWC to the Bubbleponics grow started at the smae time.

You need that air pocket in between the water line and the bottom of the cup, to give it air and more so to make the roots reach for the water. The trickle keeps them alive as they reach and seek the water, making them grow faster.

the trickle through the tubes is half air, half water.

the proof is in the pics.

I'm not at all convinced. Pictures prove nothing unless you trust the objectivity of the picture taker and his desire to run a fair comparison. Had both been done correctly instead of one intentionally done half-assed the results would have been different. Seems to me all you bubbleheads care more about doing things one certain way than you care about growing anything.

Why so hostile? are you out off weed? its good to be sceptical. but they are more or less the same thing with a small difference being the feeder tubes. plus its not like he has any motivation to lie. I dont think he gets anything out of it. Looks like the op is just trying to give out some info that he found. If you dont agree dont do it. I dont. Im not saying its wrong its just not something I do. and if you think im not concerned about actually growing take a look at the links in my signature. I assure you im all about growing lol.

Those first 3 weeks is when the feeding tubes really make a difference.

I don't understand your anger or hate. We do nothing but love and try and help. :peace:

I grow outside in soil. Grown indoor with soil for a few years. I like the idea of ebb and grow system, and currently thinking about the switch. I like simple DWC buckets too ! I like em all man. I just choose this method, that's all. To each his own. We don't make anyone pick this system, and we don't look down or exclude those that don't. I help where ever I can. Many bubbleheads do. We are all over the board. And for the record, we all grow different ways. Even each individual bubblehead. We all have different methods of growing, so we do not care or worry about doing things one certain way.

Don't breed hate my friend. Nothing but love. :peace:

From all the pictures i've seen, and the posts i've read, I'd say the bubbleponics system speeds up growth by a couple of days, maybe two or three.

I dont really understand the science behind it, oxygenated water is oxygentated water regardless of whether it is fed directly to the root zone or wicked up by the rockwool from the exploding bubbles. Perhaps the tubes provide a better supply which speeds up growth, but I am merely speculating.

I will say that the bubbleponics phenomenon is overhyped, and SH must have made a small fortune from this. I think a lot of new users (myself included) are swept along by it, thinking it's the greatest horticultural invention since the beginning of hydroponics, when it is far from it in all reality. But (and it is a big but), these forums along with thousands of interesting posts and helpful users have come about as a result of the hype and that is something to be thankful for indeed!

Peace!

ps, how about them original pics tmsculli!

When there is no viable explanation of why it would speed up growth compared to an alternate DWC approach that is done right (and there is no such explanation) the evidence of such growth is obviously suspect. Pictures of healthy plants may illustrate that you can grow great plants with the pump/distributor/tubes, but not that there is any value added by the hardware.

I think rather than being a better mousetrap, it's just another mousetrap with NEW/IMPROVED stamped on it and a higher price tag.

I do agree with you to some extent Illegal smile, but you have to admit that the interest it has garnered in this method of growing (be it normal dwc or with feeder tubes) and the resultant amazing source of help and information that is this forum, makes it to some degree acceptable

When someone is shilling up a product you have to buy retail I'd be right there with you condemning this system and I did have my doubts but since these guys are specifically here teaching us how to build and use this setup for ***free*** I'm trying it.

It's not fair to jump on these folks, find someone else to go after who really deserves it. If you want to argue about it's effectiveness compared to your system do an actual real life comparision in another thread.
