I know you're new here but you may as well tell football fans not to trash talk about each other's teams. It's part of the culture. Go on over to the DWC Grow Club thread and tell them they are uncool. Invite them over here to settle it once and for all!

I'm new here, but I'm not new to the world.

Nope, I'm not telling anyone they're not cool, I just don't feel comfortable with their type of competition. There are too many things dividing people these days, I'm looking for ways to bring them together. And starting a fight over who's way is best is not the way to do that.

There is nothing to settle.

Thing is we think dwc is cool. It's what we do after the first 4 weeks. It's getting to that point that is difficult for some. Maybe not for you IS but for some.

As you said, the roots follow the water. It's just that we provide the water automatically. Just another delivery system.

You like the Ford with or without the hemi? Don't need the hemi, don't buy the hemi.

Lol, Fords don't have hemis, Mopar has hemis. I provide water automatically too. My analogy would be this: if you want the gold plated titanium golf clubs go for it - they play the same as my time-tested classics.

Congrats to all for a grown up discussion. It takes all kinds and we are some of them! That reminds me IS, I got to vape some LSD (the plant not the drug). Ever had any LSD? Again the plant not the drug! LOL!

Funny you should ask. I have 2 LSD in week 5 of flower and they are drivingme crazy. They are much taller than advertised, pushing 5 feet, and I'm running out of height. To make matters worse, they are choking out the 2 OG Kush that are in with them. I thought LSD was supposed to be mostly Indica. These are very sativa looking. Maybe someone at attitude mixed my seeds up.

I do have to say, you're avatar cracks me up!

Mine topped out at around 34". I did supercrop and fim but not 2' worth! I ran them with cfl's for veg and a 250hps in flower. I think the grow description says 50-60 cm ( around 18-21") and that was just a lie.

They should be done growing vertical and actually should have been done a couple of weeks ago.

They are bossy plants. Mine ran over a blue cheese like it wasn;t even there! Side branching is strong on that strain.

I have 4 in the BP system but I did just buy a couple of buckets to transfer a couple out of they get out of hand. I filled a bp system with 2 of them last grow.

bubbleponics is good for rapid growth and a system that you can monitor easily and leave for a day or 2 without worrying about it. I like starting seeds in bubblers and then trans. to 1 gal buckets in 2-3 weeks before roots get tangled up, one of the pitfalls of bubble bars. I am going to go with auto's for all my needs so i think im going to set up my 1o gal rougnecks with 4-6 2" sites each and 2x10" airstones in each. No doubt bubbleponics is quick and results speak for themsleves but the PH factor is always a pain in the ass and the roots getting funky are always a possibility. remember if yoiu spike your Ph up or down your roots r sitting in it the whole time, things happen fast in bubblers, especially BAD things!

I definitely would like to switch over to dwc on my next grow.. I am very interested, i know this is a noob question, but what do the airstones do?

They can do different things. At a low level they oxygenate the water. At a higher level of bubble action they water new plants before the rotts get down into the water (per the link below).

Here's a story for you IS.

I was running an experimental E&F set up and I just couldn't get it right. Started out using the spongepots that Sannie sent me. Big mistake. They hold too much water for hydro. I then switched some of them to rock wool and hydrotron and they survived but just barely. 2 weeks with no roots in the tubes. They were less than half the size of my plants in a BP system. I said screw it, I'm no good at this now and pulled out a spare BP system last Tuesday, connected as directed and I'm happy to report that I have roots galone and very close to the res after less than one week. They've grown 2-3" each and the leaves are healthy, green and flat. Stems have thicken significantly and they are now loving life.

It could be that I'm just no good at E&F but my plants think the BP system is great. I probably stressed them into hermie machines but at least I know what I can't do and plan to clone the stressed ones for the next grow and see if I can start them off right. Solid genetics in the Sannie jack and Pandora's Box so I'm hoping for the best.

I just got my bubbleponics completed but i dont have the drippers in my hydroton i have drippers up round plants and drips down through clay pellets back into the res. And in 2 weeks afgoo has doubled in size and skunk #1 just tranplanted is doing great will have pic up soon!

This is the exact method I use successfully. During vegging, my resevoir water levels are up to the top of the 'net' of the baskets. During flowering, my resevoirs are only filled to the very bottom of the baskets, approx. 1 gallon less. The 'bursting' air bubbles in the resevoir keep the hydroton & rockwool damp.

I don't currently have pics, but a short description of my setup: 400w HPS over an abandoned garden-style bathtub with a plywood deck on top. Bathtub surround covered with Mylar. 2 Rubbermaid storage tubs, 8 3.75 holes in the lids for baskets. Each fills with 7 gallons for vegging, 6 gals. for flowering. Each resevoir has an H-shapped microstone I get from my hydroponics supply retailer. I forget the brand, as I haven't purchased any stones this season. I supply air to these with ActiveAqua 15 liter/ph air pumps.
I use FoxFarm's feeding instructions to the tee, except I add Thrive Alive B1(organic) and SM-90 to my water.
Currently starting 4th week of flowering: left res. has 8 White Rhino-tallest is 33" and buds are very impressive, right resevoir has 7 Blueberry-tallest is 36"......plants are knocking each other over, so I may not try 8 plants per res. again. last grow was 6 plants per resevoir and that worked better, from a space standpoint.
I don't weigh my harvests, but I easily supply myself with smoke year round. Before I started growing, I consumed at least an oz a month all by myself. Now, my son and I smoke for free.....you do the math.
