The Official Canna Coco & Nutrients Thread

Hello all,

My first post here :)

I want to use Canna Coco A/B for my first grow and I'm just wondering...

A: 4-0-1
B: 1-2-2 (Australia for some reason bans high P fertilisers)
Cannazym: 0-2-1

If I follow instructions and mix A+B+cannazym in equal parts, I will end up with 5-4-4. I'm sure this will be fine in veg, but what about flowering? How am I going to prevent N toxicity? And P deficiency? I'm thinking to, instead of following instructions directly, add one part extra B in flower. Does this make sense or am I setting myself up for micro issues?

I'm new to the coco grow too. I'll admit, I haven't read this whole post, but I only have soft pots and a bunch of coco. I have a pH meter, but nothing else. I also plan to buy the canna A & B.

I've been soil-growing for nearly 2 yrs with some decent results, but not great. I use FFOF/Pro Mix 50/50 and have used FF nutes. I've fought off spider mites and PM. I lost some good product in this recent battle. Actually, I'm still spraying with a peroxide/H20 mixture twice weekly just for preventative maintenance. I, also, wear shoe covers when inside my rooms(have been doing this for about a month). I'm so broke right now, because this totally ate up any extra money.

I'm a little hesitant to jump into something new(coco), as it'll put me in the red. I hear coco is much easier and people seem to like this, but what kind of meters(beside what I have) will I NEED to buy? Also, do you think this would be worth my switching to coco at this time? My FF nutes are almost gone, so I'm going to have to spend money(or credit) on something. I guess I'm going to put myself in the red one way or the other, so what do you think I should do?

I do have a post about this and thought I'd be making the switch by now.

I am thinking of trying out canna. I have grown in coco before but not all that great. I've been using hesi but my plants often went yellow. Buying food for my plants .... and buying the right food has always been a problem. too many choices and I don't know what to get. I've only done 4 grows in my life so still on the beginning learning scale.

If just starting out what should I buy. canna a+b .... do I need cal/mag for other additives. I'm not looking to super extra additives (I only have hesi pk13/14 left from my last grow).

I run cal/ mag because I run a r/o system. It's a must when you run a r/o system. I run canna coco and there whole additives lineup with no problem. What kind of water are you using?

Save up for the coco. Invest in a ppm meter as well.

if you are nervous follow the Australian canna nute calculator at 50-75%.

I'm running tap water which has a lot of kalk in it. The Ph level is 8.0 to start out. It is the type of water where the ph needs to be rebalanced everyday for the first few days. I normally ph my water down to 5.7. How do you go about r/o your water?

I have seen there are cal/mag from canna but each has its own bottle. So I will pick up some calcium and magnesium. Do you need phosphor and iron or do the nutes pretty much stay stable with canna?

Sounds like your using Hard Water so doubt you need the Cal/Mag, normally Soft Water or R/O Water needs Cal/Mag like Sky Rocket said ;)

I have some bottles here which is European NPK is 5-4-3, Looks like Australia use slightly less P.
If your using Canna Coco Professional media then it should be fine as they designed it for that.

sweet. I will pick up some canna and go from there. I have had a problem with my leaves always turning yellow. I think it is because I don't water often enough so the ph is changing in the pot. I just can't find the time to water them everyday/ every other day. I have an old drip feed system I used on a normal garden so I am thinking of giving that a shot. See how it goes.

I'm in europe .... but from the Australian area ;) I met one of those foreign birds and now married with children! :D At least she doesn't mind that I grow ... even though she doesn't partake.

Whats your guys oppinion on Canna Boost? Is it really worth the money? I'm paying about 150 dollars for the canna boost alone in my 4x4 this run, that`s more than all the other nutes combined. For those of you who do use it, do you use it throughout flower?

Im not sure but it seems like it does a pretty good job with my super lemon haze. If you are unsure try running it side by side (cutting/clones from the same mother plant)and see your results.
Does anyone in here play with raw fertilizer salts?
what is that for?

What's up guys..
Glad everyone is keeping the thread alive!
Hope all my old RIU buds are killing it.
Sorry to all those that I failed to reply to.. Ive been on a gnarly bender for the last few years :/
I still grow every year , but I can only grow outdoors in the summer time due to the summer heat in the area I'm living in right now... I have some Mr. Nice and some Green Crack going OD... Has anyone grown either of those strains outdoor before? How did it go? Any advice on those two specific strains?

Thanks to everyone who sent msgs or posted all the kind words about me and asking for my return to RIU... It means so much knowing I helped someone and to feel wanted / needed.. sorry I've been failing and missing.
Keep a eye out for me on the milk cartons bcuz I'll probably be missing.

Fyi, Canna boost is sugar water derived from sugar beets , along with some unknown hormones that Canna won't disclose... But there are only so many hormones that it can be and definitely not worth the money unless money is not a factor.. I recommend using it as a foliar feeding 90% of the time if u end up buying it.
Peace

It cost a lot of money for Canna to ship material from one country to Europe and then ship the heavy bottles of Canna nutrients back into USA... This is a large part of why Canna costs so much... Multiple Overseas SHIPPING!

Their products are great quality and they work great and Ralph from Canna has a PhD in Botany! But nutrients made overseas nutes are questionably expensive.

I still promote Canna but only if money is no object and quality is the only goal... My current 2 cents.
Peaceout, JBerry.

Just a quick question guys, im switching from vitalink to canna coco a and b as i already use canna coco coir plus, i am still pretty new to growing, and would like to know what other products i should use with the A and B.

I did hear when you're using soft tap water that you should use some kind of cal mag product as soft water lacks cal mag? Im not sure how true that is.

Any information would be most helpful.

at what dosage do you usewater already has 200 p of cal mag the u probably don't need to add cash.. at least just amag. And do you use thru out flower?
Add aprox. 200 ppm of mainly cal-mag before adding your nutes... The only exception would be if your tap water already has the needed cal mag.... Coco commonly has mag issues, and a steady/consistent calcium supply is essential for quality/yield.. consistency is key with calcium.

Most brands of coco ate shit bcuz they do not properly rinse before selling and it has way too much salt.
If u buy any coco coir besides Canna then test the run off ppm... It should be around 60ppm... But I've seen other big name brands have as much as 2000 ppm, and then they say coco sucks... Wrong.. Buy Canna or test your coco ppm for excess salts.
