I have root aphid in my veg tent to I treat with mite killer and pumped ozone in to the tent when the plants were out for 2 hours which should kill the adults. My own fault for not having a fan and just leaving the vent holes open

That sucks man, I got infested with moths and then caterpillars. Try to bring some ladybirds into the room, they eat up the aphid within a few days.

Shit buzz man :-( I have gotten bugs a few times. The first time was thrimps and then fungus gnats then spider mites and root aphids. I've tried natural cures but they suck dick. Get the chemicals out and kill them quick. The best thing I can say is if u get an ozone generator from China and flood where your growing after each grow for a min of two hours that will kill everything. Ozone fucks up your plants if they are in the room/tent

Hi Guys - First time grower. Looking for some more advice please.

I'm just growing one plant in a wardrobe and I'm not looking for high yields. Just a bit of fun/hobby.

So that's what my plant looks like at the moment - see attached.

My current stats are:

Soil Moisture - 30%
Soil Fertility - 350uS/cm
Sunlight - 3000 (lux) (I'm just using cheap LED lights). But I've actually stuck it out in the garden for a while to help strengthen it and get more light, so right now its getting 35,000 (lux)
Air Temperature 21.7

I'm going to ask two questions in this post and then make a new post:

1) Is it time to move to a bigger pot and if so what size pot please?
2) I have not fed them yet, just the bio bizz light mix soil, what nutrients do I need to get please?

Thanks

So my second post is about a new light. I've read all the previous pages and it seems to me that a HPS 600 Watt Omega kit is recommended. I looked on Amazon at these and there are so many its confusing. And it seems to me if I have one of these they are noisy and I have to buy fans and stuff like that.

Since I'm only doing this as a bit of fun and not looking for high yields would any of these LED lights suffice and besides I really dont want to spend a fortune. I just want something that works and is nice and easy to use.

So I've been reading and looking at videos on youtube and these LEDs seems to get mentioned a lot:

Mars Hydro 300w - this is 72 Pound on Amazon or there is a guy on adverts selling two for 100 Euro.

Roleadro 300w also on Amazon and also at 72 pound.

VIPARSPECTRA 300W Reflector Series - also on Amazon and about 80 Pound

MAXSISUN Dimmable 300W LED Grow Light 12-band Full Spectrum Veg and Bloom - which I can only find on Amazon USA for 68 Dollars - obviously if I buy that I could get hit with VAT and the Postman charge.

I know all you professionals have much better kit, but as I say, I'm only starting out and just doing this as a hobby and not a career.

If there is another light around the same price please also go ahead and advise.

Finally, I was also looking at the grow tents, I only need a small one, so I see that they are about 35 pound to 50 pound on Amazon UK - is there any particular one you guys might suggest getting please.

Thank you.

Yea time to repot. Size pot depends on how long you want to veg for.
Nip out the top of the plant and remove lowest leaves.
Use them lights for the first grow as your not worried about yields. first grow is not going to be much anyway.

If you want to go with a cheap LED I don’t think it makes a difference which one you choose. They all give the same results.

Or you could spend the same money on a 400w dual spec hps kit. You get the bulb reflector and ballast for under 80. Check them out on eBay. As it’s your first grow it won’t make too much difference in the quality. As you lean more and start to dial things in you can get a better quality HPS kit.

Here’s a lumii 400w dual spec kit for £65
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/111754301551

For tents, I use the secret jardin range. Cheap and get the job done but won’t last for more than a few grows. The seams start to rip around the poles.

Plants are look good man very healthy.

Don’t get too caught up in the fine details. I don’t even know what that soil fertility measurement means :-P you’ll just wreck your head trying keep track of all of that.

You should get 1 or 2 more weeks out of that soil after a transplant before they’ll need food. Might be worth looking into a simple to follow base nutrient like advance nutrient or canna. Or go organic.

Thanks Budsahoi,

I'm actually only going to veg for another few days as I'm moving in 5 weeks and can't transport them where I'm going. So I guess that means I dont need to put it into a much bigger pot?

"Nip out the top of the plant and remove lowest leaves" - I dont know how to do this, is there a video on you tube that you could recommend?

When you say 'them lights' which lights do you mean please?

Thanks

Emerald,

Thanks for that.

So what is a better quality HPS Kit - is it one that is 600W?

It's just I think I'm a bit scared with these HPS Kits/Lights - I've looked at many different ones on Amazon and I read the reviews and people say that they burn things - I'm worried that they will burn my house down :)

Oh God, I can't decide what to get; I need to decide what to get. Why is this so difficult :)

Thanks, I appreciate the good news.

I think soil fertility means the amount of nutrients left in the soil. I'm into my SmartHome gadgets so I have this Xiaomi Plant Monitor Gizmo - got it on aliexpress before for 8 or 9 dollars - see it now on gearbest for 15 (which is well steep) https://www.gearbest.com/other-garden-supplies/pp_373947.html?vip=4264809&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI16O4tJ333AIVwrHtCh1BRwqpEAAYAiAAEgLNlfD_BwE

Advanced Nutrient/Canna/Organic - Id be very grateful if you could post an Amazon link so I get the right thing please. Again, I just want it to be easy :)

Iv used HID lights for over 5 years. Never had an issue. And to be fair, I’d say there is more chance of one of those cheap LEDs catching fire than HID setup.

I’d recommend a 400w for your first grow. Easier to manage the heat and cheaper upfront cost.

A better quality HPS kit would be a Lumatek dimmable ballast, XXL dominator reflector or something similar and a hortlux HPS bulb. But your looking in the region of about 400 for all that.

I mostly use lumantec ballast one thing i have noticed they prefer lumantec bulbs. Growmaster start flickering.
More light output too with their own bulbs.

Ok, you (and budsahoi) have convinced me. But I'm not spending 400 Euro. So is the one you posted earlier the best one to get: lumii 400w dual spec kit for £65

I can go up in price a bit higher, don't want to go over 100 euro though.
