Hiya folks,
Lads is the attached pic showing my 2 wk old seedling about the right size or should i expect more. Tis about 6 inches big, ahem.

Fed them 3/4 strength plagron power root for the first time last night. Haven't checked em today but am excited to see if they're any "better" this evening.

I do notice they aint as bright green as some pics on here. Theres also a spot or two on them. You can see one in the pic.
I've been reading about veg stage feeding and am cautious of fooking them up. Thats kinda why i went with the plagron 100% terra fertilised, in the hope that they could safely establish without meddling from me. Potassium and nitrogen are usual candidates for feeding in veg yeah?
Based on my soil choice whats the safest bet feeding wise ye reckon? Sorry if these are thicko question but the only thing I've ever grown is a beard and belly lol.

Last question, I'm getting the bigger tent and 600w hps. Should have them in it in a wk. The oldest of em will be 3wks old (northern lights auto) at that stage so I'll still be vegging yes? My question is re dual spectrum lamps. They any use for flowering? I would love to maximise yeild (wouldnt we all) with a flowering specific bulb but still have two plants only a couple days old so will need a dual. Whats yer thoughts on em?

As always thanks much fellow farmers;)

The HPS bulb is specifically for flowering plants. Metal Halid is suited for veg because of the blue wave lengths in the 6400k spectrum. So MH for Veg, HPS for flower. Dual spec can be good if you use them right. With dual spectrums you lose some weight but gain quality AFAIK. Nothing wrong with flowering under dual spec once the wattage is there.

Your autoflowers don’t really really have a veg period. They go from seedling to bloom. Won’t make too won’t be any difference with light schedule.

Plants looks good, about the right size for 2 weeks old. Maybe hold off on watering again as the soil looks wet and only use a small amount around the stem. If your using fertilized soil you don’t need to feed them anything for the first few week, just pH water. Bright green leaves usually means lack of nitrogen or something so it’s not a good thing. Usually caused from under feeding

Not familiar with plagron products but from the sounds of it the soil is already fertilized. If so, you may have burnt the plants by given them 3/4 nutes. Fertilized soil on its own can sometimes burn them if they’re a light feeder. Watch out for the instructions on the bottles, they usually over do it with the feed.

I run hydro so I have to feed them from the start. They usually get 1/4 strength for the first few weeks, then 1/2 strength through flower. At the height of flower I might give them 3/4 but it depends on the strain. Less is better and if they need more they will let you know

Plant is fine. Do not feed these animals as they say in the zoo.
I only use dual spec now, less stretch.
Match ballast with bulbs and do not use cheap ass bulbs.

Emeraldbuds,
I hear what your saying about straight to flower, just reading up on it there. Its mad they've been made to do that when you think about it.
My thinking was having six odd plants all spaced out over 2 weeks in the same tent perhaps having different light requirements. Hopefully a sunmaster or omega 600w dual spectrum will suffice.

Whats your opinion on this Budsahoi, will the ballast above be ok? Reflector be ok for a 1.2m sq tent thats 2m high? Getting a 6inch fan soon.
Btw could i repurpose my supposedly 100cfm kenley fan as an intake fan? Heres the link https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kenley-4-Inline-Extractor-Duct-Fan-for-Hydroponic-Carbon-Filter-Grow-Room-Tent/191794549735?epid=1456202233&hash=item2ca7d893e7:g:RSQAAOSwAuZX28SR&_nkw=kenley+fan&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=p2380057.m4084.l1313.TR6.TRC2.A0.H0.Xkenley.TRS0

Also are digi ballasts lower power consumption than the older tech kinds? Having it switchable to different outputs is kinda handy.

The product i used (plagron power root) is meant to be ok used in conjunction with the terra 100 soil i got and i read an instructional there on royalseeds where he did likewise. In saying that i dont know diddly so will just stick with my ph 6.5ish bottled aldi spring water.
I'll give em two days to dry out a bit before watering again.

I know its a how long is a piece of string question but how much water would you give to my two week old plant at one sitting?

Running hydro seems well tricky, to me at least. The idea of being able to read the plants like that must be a challenge but i suppose it's a buzz when you nail it.

What feed products should i buy though? In another wk they'll 3 wks old and the soil is meant to be ok till then but needs supplementary stuff thereafter. What ye recommend?

On the subject of led, hiw much wouldya have tonspend to get a rig that could veg and flower six plants well?

The beauty about autos is you can have loads of plants at different stages of growth under the same light and schedule, they will still bloom. Once you start photoperiod plants you need the right light and schedules.

I would prob give them around 300ml of pH water. Then wait until it dries and give them the same. When you notice the soil dries out quicker then increase the amount of water. You won't need to feed anything until week 4 but that could vary. Get yourself an easy nutrient base A&B. You will prob need to get the bloom nutrients if your soil keeps them going until then.

I use sunmaster deluxe for HPS and MH, great quality light and reasonably priced. Yeah, the dimmable ballasts are good I have 3 of the Lumateks you can increase the power to 660w or down to 250w. All ballasts will generally pull the same power from the wall so I wouldn't worry too much.

The 100cfm will work perfect for intake but make sure you filter the line in, use a net or HEPA filter to avoid bugs. Iv just been battling caterpillars in my room due to moths (bastards ate through the whole garden)

To build a COB light for a 4x4 room your looking about €400, that's DIY so you need to order the parts and then put it together. Electric consumption will go down and you reduce heat. The PPFD at about 15inch over the canopy is double the DE Gativa at 4ft. Well worth the investment IMO

Perfect thanks for that man. I will give the older gals 300ml each tomo so. I do notice the air pots drying out quicker than the smart pots.

Crazy that the crawlys have ate through your garden! What can you do about this!?
Luckily i did cut up some old mozzy netting and put a double layer over both my out and intakes. Hopefully thats enough?

On the intake fan....will i create a negative pressure inside the tent if my exhaust fans cfm exceeds the inatkes? Depending on how airtight the tent actually is could i cause it to bow inwards? My inlet is via an 10 foot four inch duct to the outside.

Yeah if i am to do this again i think cob or led will have to be investigated. I can solder well enough and if theres a tutorial out there i might be able to lash something together.

Cheers!

I bought and will buy led stuff off kingbrite in China ID say 600watts of cob will do u fine :-)

I got a quote from Kingbrite for 9 COBs plus drivers, holders and passive heatsinks came to about 450. Was going to order this time around but might wait for the next harvest when the bulbs will need a changing.

Pull the fuckers off haha. Spent about 4hrs trying to find them all and ended up throwing everything out. Iv kept 2 plants to clone from so will throw them too once the clones root. Having serious issues around here with moths the last few weeks.

Yeah run the exhaust harder than the intake and you'll see the tent pull in, but don't have too much negative pressure though or the seams on the tent will start to tear and you'll get light leaks. Negative pressure is just for the smell, if you have positive pressure the smell will escape out any gap in the tent so you want it all bring pulled through your carbon filter. Are you using carbon filter?

Checkout out Growmau5 on youtube. Look for his DIY LED basics videos, he explains everything to do with LED builds and goes through how to put them together.

Ahhh never twigged that. Makes sense otherwise it will stink as you say.
No I'm not using a filter at the mo as they don't smell. How many wks in would you need to start using one?

The above is the one i got which i since read is a p.o.s. yeah? Id imagine six plants in flower will reek?

Total shitshow with the caterpillars. Would never have guessed they could ruin the day! When you clone a plant doea it develop at the same point of maturity as its mother or do as a seedling and begin life? Whats the craic cloning autos?

Anyway the two older plants are getting 300ml tonight and a splash for the wee fellas.

You want the filter running from about week 4 of flower, but some strains can stink from veg. When you get the smell around the house you'll know its time

Clones start off like a seedling but grow a bit faster, they usually harvest a week earlier than from seed. Don't think you can clone an auto, they're not photoperiod so no way to keep them vegging to develop.

Yeah, fucking moths got in laying eggs. Never had caterpillers before so it was new to me. I had most of the windows open around the house the last few weeks and leaving the tent door open due to the heat so that's how they must have got in. Fuckers!!!
