Hello Farmer's Hat,
For keeping your dry kief ...dry, use the bottle with boiling water and you'll end with a much better final product.

Use the Frenchy method:
First part:

And the second part that will truly attract your attention:

best way to press imo, old school... and what a gift when it's finished
Find a glass bottle and you're about to be ready ;)

have fun

I hope frenchy doesn't mind that I repost links to his great videos

Frenchy, I'd be interested to know what you think of "Ice Wax" to toke. I like toking my hash in this form and find it very tasty. I do not keep freezer or ice water derived hash at room temperature ever. It's always kept frozen until I vape it. I think your method allows hash to be stored at room temperature for very long periods and may not oxidize as fast as ice wax at room temperature however. How do the high and taste vary, in your view, between these to types?

Yea I've watched them a couple times myself to get the ice to leaf ratio more down pat. It's like subs youtubes you can always go back and be like oh yeah I forgot about that. Very informative to say the least.

I wish I could get my hands on material to achieve full melt :( I dont even get a bubble when I use beautiful nugs like Chocolope that are rich with Trichs. I used the 110 screen and literally did it for 2-3 seconds only. Tasted lovely but no melt. Sadly, I think its time for me to put away my dry sifting screens and bubble bags. If I want to get anything to melt, I have to use some sort of solvent :?

"Sad choice" WarMachine, one of my main resolution this year is to showcase dry sieving this winter and see how melty I can get it
Really looking forward to this Frenchy .
My bias is towards traditional high quality hash but that said, there is no doubt that our "modern" environment provides opportunity to perhaps equal the best of the old school methods. I avoid highly toxic solvents like the plague.
Be careful WarMachine...... consider this, perhaps you just need to perfect your technique , which can also be a very fun hobby :)
All the best in 2014 to Frenchy and everyone on this thread!

I still look forward to seeing the showcase. If I could even get mine to melt a little bit, I would at least see more results in mine but I get nothing. I tried to refine the 110 before too, didn't help. Perhaps its just the material I get is not worthy of dry sifts (if your looking for melt) but unfortunately I cannot change that matter to much :-?. I don't really know what else I can do to be honest. I saw a post IC forum labelled as Cannabis Rosin. Here is the link.

Perhaps I can try that with some of my hash and see what comes of it. What do you think of the thread Frenchy?

Yeah that's pretty good. My tech is pretty simple really, with this one I just took the material and literally sifted it lightly by taping the sides for 3-5 seconds and then I gathered the kief. Pressed with my finger, pressed really quick and was actually a bitch to get off my finger. Then I rolled it into a ball and went to hit it. Maybe I should actually try the bubble bags with water but I'm a fan of the dry sift even though I can't achieve it. Also the screen sized I used is 110.

By the way, I'm by no means bashing dry sift or bubble or IWE. Infact, I liked the concept and history and cleanliness so much I tried to reproduce it, I tried a lot.. I just cant replicate the end results.

I have thought of this, it is a fun hobby indeed but when you have tried this hobby as long as I have and it just won't take. Perhaps I should change hobby's lol. If you look threw out this thread, I have posted many of my dry sifts and rolled Cannoli's that got many praises for the golden color and such, and I thank everyone for it. But even that delicious golden dust wouldn't melt :( I've thought of maybe taking my dry sift and throwing it in water and then gathering the bottom since the theory is kief sinks and plant water floats. But even then, I don't think my material would bubble. I have sooo many different micron screens, in hopes by refining it I could then achieve melt (like Bubbleman did with the bubblebox) but no luck still. Maybe I'll give the bubble bags ago again using a oz of material but it's pretty disheartening when nothing happens.

As far as solvents go, I understand where you are coming from. I personally try to get really good butane or ISO if I am doing an extract that way and then have the vac chamber and pump to help. I personally though, like yourself, would prefer to use no solvents. I'm still so-so with grain alcohol extractions. Hell, I rather use no water but I don't mind it at all. I think we all have a spot for hash in our hearts. It was the first concentrate I ever smoked.

I am trying my first fresh frozen run. All the buds are tiny to med. sized. After there frozen, but before I put them into ice and water, do the buds need anything done to them ? I was going to put whole buds in but was wondering about cutting them up.
