The fishing thread ( not about fish fertilizer)

I re ordered the MBR rod that went into the delta and replaced the Curado DC with a Scorpion 21 DC.

The scorpion came today. Wednesday is my birthday so of course I will be out early getting it broken in.

Biggest difference between the Curado DC and the Scorpion DC is the Scorpion has 15 settings all together to get it truly dialed in while the Curado only has 4.

I still have a Curado DC on my Dobbins rod so I will truly get a great side by side comparison

Nice! I need to replace my Calcutta 200B. I’ve had it cleaned a few times, but the drag needs constant adjustment.

I need something that can do fast retrieve for spoons and side drifting.

Jigging a spoon can have a fast retrieve need in certain scenarios.

But it truly depends on the day, time, time of year, tide and so on of how fast of a retrieve I want non jigging.

I get fairly technical about it lol
I hear ya man. I'm so methodical with my retrieve, I visualize my lure, with feel and watch in my head what it's doing. I don't pull spoons fast, really ever tho

If I'm struggling to get a bite on basically anything I will switch to burning a bait back. Sometimes it's the reaction strike that will get a bite more than them trying to eat.
I don't fish bass, but with summer muskie, you can't reel fast enough. As winter approaches, slower retrieval, pauses, and long slow jerks, tend to land more fish. I suppose there are times I reel faster but my goto casting reel Calcutta te DC 201. (For walleye, salmon etc) Gear ratio 5:1. Nice and slow
Muskie Calcutta te 401. Also a 5:1 which makes it hard to burn .. but I love my te's and te DC. They both have max 21lbs drag. Which is incredible for me. I love cranking it down and just hammering that hook in, then straight muscle the fucker in.

I'm always nervous fishing on my Birthday.

Getting skunked sucks.

Getting skunked on the day you were born really sucks. Luckily I had a good morning.

Got to use the new scorpion reel and I have to say I am happy I decided to try it. Was able to cast about 30 feet further with it than the Curado due to fine adjustment ability. Good reel.

34 degrees at 6:30am and as we all know once I got going I didn't even notice the cold. Gotta love fishing man.

34f sounds like an Aquarius birthday party, except it looks like you actually had fun. Happy Birthday!
