If you want to try Bodega Bay for crab before the holidays they offer crab only trips for $180. Leaves the dock at 3:30pm. They will cook and clean them at the dock free.

Dang. Yup, that’s 6-pack boat trip prices. But only crab :-( and at 3:30? Way past my bed time lol. I say we wait and see wut up with our usual boats out of berkeley/emeryville

They leave the dock at 3:30 because they are only running a short way to pull pots and back to the dock. they also offer rockfish/crab combo for $350 leaves at 7am...
Shit, i’ve forgotten how much the party boat trips cost nowadays. But seems like a very short trip. I dunno if it would feel worth it to me bro.

I'm mostly in it for the crab....my knees can't take much stand up fishing any more. Salmon trolling is a bit different.
Dang. Wasn’t thinking about that.
But If we’re gonna pay the big bucks for the 6pack trip, we gotta go out on a halibut trip next summer. They’ll usually hook us up with the butts, and some nice rockfish. Or also some stripers and sharks if on a big tide. Which i always try to time the butt fishing around weak tides.

I will blow my brains out on anything larger than a 6 pack. There was one time 4 years ago where half the boat under dressed for weather and the other half were too drunk to fish. Me and a buddy caught half the rockfish limits. Had to give the inner liner of my all weather jacket to a poor guy that came in a t-shirt.

I do have a guy that runs a 4-6pk and the most I’ve paid is $180 after a 10 hour day hitting fort Ross down to tomales. I usually just do straight salmon trips when I camp at casinis in July. I’ll crab from shore since we eat rock crab. Always looking for my own boat…

I mostly use flying C lures for salmon
Do you change out the hooks or add a barrel swivel of some sort? I’ve only fished them at Benicia with the original hardware. They usually have a barb so that’s the first thing that needs to go. “Addicted” tutorial says to use some type of offset hook.

I have not fished spinning/spoon gear for salmon but I find I’m missing out on some days when conditions don’t allow my side drift/switch rod to hit close, fast water.

We used to crush the King, Silver Salmon (and Halibut) using various colors of Fin Fighters on down riggers in the salt.

I use them as is.

Interesting fact. I have never bought a flying C. I find them in Benicia during low tide in the rocks. lol
