Someguy15s Round 4 1kw Pineapple Express

Turns out I have thrips in the soil, and what also looks like fungus gnats in the air (maybe 3-5 mature? not many). Applied Azamax as a drench already and I'm going to hit them foliar at lights out. Problem is I don't know if I can get 100% coverage in the soil and they seem to be hiding in the dry pockets. Smart pots make it kinda impossible to completely flood the surface. Anyone have thrip advise :(

I am also thinking about coating the soil with diatomaceous earth, it's like razor blades to them.

Yeah, if the azamax doesn't work I will look into that. It says it's for thrips though, my concern is just getting 100% coverage. On the positive side, I THINK they are fungas eaters, not plant suckers. They seem more interested in the soil then my babies thank god.

The pineapples are about 12-14" in the 5gal pots and the hydro plants are all about 10-12", the 400MH definitely helped bulk them up WAY more the 64w flouros in the same 3 week period. shock right?

Looking nice bro, make sure they aren't eating your roots.. which is something all undeveloped bugs like to munch on..

Thanks for the compliment, I'll take a look at ur journal in a bit, 1400 watts sounds like a lot for a first timer haha!

nice.......
The best thing I can say about the PE is I'm on round 4 and still growing it since round 1 haha, it's quality shit.

I was thinking that too, they seem to be all over the surface... they remind me of lice, just wandering around not really doing anything noticable. The azamax interupts the molting process so they shouldn't be switching stages, but I'm gonna grab some spinosad (rep u if I could) today and nuke them back to the stoneage, little fuckers! I'm just glad my girls look really healthy, the way they have grown in the last week there's no way the roots are being severely impacted. The bad news is they have made their way into my hydro pots in there now too, so I'll have to cover EVERYTHING in spinosad... these little assholes...

How Spinosad Works
Spinosad has a mode of action different from the older compounds presently used for the treatment of head lice. Salgado et al ( Appendix 4 Part A Part B ) has reported that Spinosyn A directly excites the nervous system, initially causing involuntary muscle contractions and tremors by acting on the neurons in the central nervous system of the insect. Insects treated with Spinosyn A are eventually paralyzed, but only after prolonged periods of excitation, suggesting that paralysis is not a primary effect, but instead is a secondary effect resulting from the prolonged over excitation of the nervous system. Further, excitation of the insect nervous system by Spinosyn A appears related to alteration of the function of nicotinic and gamma amino butyric acid (GABA)–gated ion channels. However, Spinosyn A does not interact within known binding sites for other nicotinic or GABA-gated insecticides. This appears to be the basis for the unique insecticidal mechanism and lack of cross-resistance with other insecticides. In summary, as stated in the Spinosad Technical Bulletin, “Continuous activation of motor neurons causes insects to die of exhaustion."

Hmmm, the 400w is just not going to cut it in the tent. When I get the third harvest I'm going to buy a 1k switchable & a Super Blue (400w MH/600w Hps same bulb). That should fill out the tent nicely and I definitely have the space vertically. @ .6g/w that's 600 grams with the 1k instead of 240 grams with the 400.

GORGEOUS grow man! And plants! I'm totally blown away with your grows! I got some PE goin ATM aswell (soil). So I'm gonna be taggin along!

Bugs suck, I've only delt with spider mites, and just once. But something that worked amazingly for me, and a few of my buddies I've gotten hoocked on aswell, are these 'Hot Shot No Pest Strips' http://www.amazon.com/Hot-Shot-5580-Unscented-Repellent/dp/B0019BK8AG

Careful with them, some people are scared of them. Just don't hang around in a room with them form more than 4 hours at a time and your fine. I GUARENTEE they will work tough! If nothing else. AND it's easy! lol, and cheap! I'm all about easy and cheap!

Anyways good luck , beautiful plants, and I'll be watchin.

I'll keep them in mind, sort of a last resort tho, trying to stay organic if possible and problem is far from sever.
Good luck on the bug war sg ;)
thanks, I think I got them early enough the azamax should stop interrupt their life-cycle. :crosses fingers: The spinosad seems to have reduced the numbers but didn't wipe them out the way I had hoped.

Girls got their first 12 hours of darkness last night. 8 Weeks of flowering, half of the plants will be moved into the other closet when I harvest my third round. They have just started flushing now. :eyesmoke:

If your done with your azamax soil drench then I would reinoculate your soil if you haven't done so already. Wouldn't be surprised if it greatly reduced your colony size.

The war on bugs is a senseless and endless conflict.

I'm fighting snails in my lettuce patch right now and lets just say the casualties are high on both sides.
