Setting up Grow and Cab for Blackstar 240w

Looks like you're off to a good start, but any idiot knows you should have just wrapped that frame with panda film! Sorry, had to do it :)
 
The Cab is 18x21x48. You think i'll need that that much exhaust? It's not like this LED will be giving off that much heat as far as I know, and it is winter. 60 some degree temperature in the room. Here are the fans i bought

What is the cfm rating of the fans? I'm venting a 150 hps with a 50cfm fan so u can get an idea. My room temps are much higher than yours too. At a guess I'd say your fans will work fine, and I would probably use them both for exhaust.
 
Come to think of it, I'd hope you can get by with one fan. My whole purpose for wanting to swap out my hps for an led is to use a near silent fan, which my current setup is certainly not.
 
Not sure on the cfm, ill try to find out and let you know. Ya i hear ya, i plugged the fan in and its not exactly stealth. I am going to panda the inside of the box don't worry. More updates soon.
 
I have a 133.6cfm fan that would only require one exhaust fan, and you could have a passive intake... if they're standard 120mm fans, they;re prob around 40-50cfm and I'd use both as exhaust to make sure I had negative pressure inside the cab.

A lot of people follow the rule that you want twice as much air leaving the grow room as coming in.
 
I looked up those fans and they should be 110 cfm which I think a single fan should more than exhaust the box.
 
Thanks supchaka for looking into that. Re:beef I think i should be good with one exhaust then, pretty close to your cfm. Good thing because I don't want to run 2 for noise issues.
 
This thing has gone in so many different directions buttt.. I have decided to start out with some auto's. I went with Short Stuff Blue Himalaya Diesel Feminized. Question is now... can i fit more than one in my cab? I was hoping I would be able to fit more than one in the cab in 2 gal maybe 3 gal pots. Input appreciated.
 
with just one fan running in the box with the door closed its a little louder than id like. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to quiet this or another suggestion for exhaust and intake
 
Ya does anyone have any suggestions or a link to muffle the sound of the pc fan? I know it sounds ridiculous but i think my one pc fan is louder than the 3 fans on my blackstar
 
i had this problem when i put my fans in at first. it annoyed the piss out of me so one night i fixed it. instead of drilling and mounting it, i fitted the whole with velvet (if it were socially acceptable i would dress in nothing but velvet). i secured the velvet to the box with velcro stikers and did the same to the fan. now its quite. sometimes dust builds up and makes weird noises but other than that i cant hear it at all anymore.
 
So you just mounted the velvet in between the fan and the wood to cut down on vibration noise? I have alot of noise without the fan even mounted just testing the noise of the fan running with it sitting on a towel on the bottom of the cab.
 
since you already dropped the cash for a Blackstar 240 you might as well pay another $100 or so and grab a grow tent. I have a DR60 and a blackstar 240 with 4x42w soft whites hanging down with PLENTY of room. The blackstar runs soooo cool. And its fans actually circulate the air nicely for veg stage. The DR60 is only 2'x2'x5.5' perfect for a one plant scrog.

panel is about 8inches form canopy, plant is 24" tall in a 5 gallon pot. As you can see theres loads of vert room, plant only takes full floor space b/c I lst'd a bit.

I had a 120mm cpu fan exausting from vent in top and passive intake on lower vent. But since venting is not a problem at all for these lights its more air circulation that i worry about. So I put the 120mm fan in the lower intake and I have passive out take. This gives more airflow around and under the canopy, it also makes the tent balloon out a bit which reflects more light back to the middle of the tent rather than away to the sides. It also allows breathing room between the hanging cfls and the side of the tent so I dont worry about fire risk etc. I know its unorthodox but it seems to be working real well. The out take vent is also 2" smaller than the intake, creating positive pressure in the tent.
