Sorry, that's for single strips of 22 "

So you are doing 17 - 22" strips. I am wondering for a 4x4 if 8 - 44" strips would be enough and an HLG-480? How are the temps?

I am planning on setting up a licensed commercial with 2 rows of six lights on each side or 12 total lights. Power costs for electricity is slightly higher so using 480 watts versus 1000 watts HPS is very positive. Also I would like to keep the heat down more and more of a closed room instead of bringing in outside fans and exhausting air due to CO2.

Your not going to get 480 watts to produce the same as a thousand, more like a replacement for a 600 for that wattage.

With an A-series Meanwell, he should pass 500w. (I believe the HLG-550 tops out at 510w.) Looking at the results Grand Master Level got with his 550's (they consistently out-yielded the 1,000w HPS fixtures he was running against them), I'd say that someone who knows what they're doing can definitely produce the same as a 1,000w HPS (SE, not DE).

Does Grand Master have a thread here? I wonder if you throw enough strips and power if you can take on DE? I think people running COBs think they can or six QB boards.

With the right components, in the right configuration, you absolutely can take on a DE. I'd think that 700w or so (used correctly) would out-yield a DE. There is a thread here ("From DEs to LEDs", or something like that) where a dude tried replacing his DEs with 750w of Quantum Boards, and now he's making a permanent switch to LED. With strips, properly spread for maximum uniformity, 700w should do it.

I don't know if GML has his own thread here, but someone else started one to follow his grow on YouTube; you can read about the results in that thread, but you can also look up his YT channel and see for yourself what he's accomplished.

Damn - 17 Samsung 22" or 44" strips?

The 44" strips on DigiKey if you buy 10 is about $25.06. For a 4x4 - my other option might be 6 Sunboards/Wavy for $50 each. I think 6 boards are comparable to 1000 watt HPS SE running an HLG-480???. This would be $50 a board or $300. I am not sure what he charges for freight. Samsung 44" strips 12 at $25.06 = $300.72.

I sketched out a frame for the 6 Sunboards which seems pretty simple and a little easier than a frame for 12 to 17 Samsung 44" strips. Some guy attached his Samsung strips to pie pans then to frames.
Look at HLG quantum board 132's. No heat sink needed !!! Just do 16 gauge alum. frame...Bring on da frost !

Another update yall. Week 4 of veg now.

She had nitrogen deficiency yesterday, so I fed her her first dose of nectar for the gods. For some reason she clawed a bit afterwards. Might need to hold off on the bloom khaos for a bit ;) She grew like 2 inches today though, no shit.

Might drop the scrog lower, what do you think guys? She's starting to fill out a lot of horizontal space seemingly by it's own will. Issue is my stems are getting tough because of my growstones leeching a lot of silica.

Get some Vitalink Silicone Max or Botanicare Silica Blast to compensate that out leeching. It's relatively cheap and available on am4zon.
Order today and you get it monday ot tuesday.

I had a Jack Herer that would do that. Finicky bitch she was...
Yeah might just be a lil finnicky. Ill she how she goes. i just woke up and she is touching the net now. I am not sure why feeding it nectar would cause it to grow faster at this early stage but holy damn lol....

Oh haha I meant the growstones are leeching a lot of silica into the soil. That's why I used them. since im using organic nectar I didnt want a bottled silica product so i used the growstones.

Just another quick update. The n tox seems to be getting better and got another 2 inches of growth since yesterday.

I dont know what that nectar did but god damn ive never seen veg this quick in soil. She's at the scrog now.

My humidity is going up just as expected. Ambient in my house is 25% but the tent is at 40-50% now due to the plant transpiring nicely.

Turned my lights down a bit. The plant is getting a lot closer to the light now and at full blast it is too much now. Droopy at end of the day. Went from 320w down to 250w.

start topping it some more before going to scrog, smaller holes in the net would help you out a lot, giving more yield.
I usually just top once before scrogging. But i also usually use 3.5" squares and not 6", but i ordered the wrong size.

You cant see in the pic but there's probably 30 baby nodes all over that will fill the scrog with budsites in no time.

I will lollipop right before flower and 2 weeks into it too.

Really?
Smaller holes in the sgrog net leads to better yield? I have to try that!
Sorry, I had to take this ambiguous template necessarily. At least in my language it's ambiguous ... Lol!
Have good experience with 4" mesh size, supports well and one shoot per stitch is feasible ... with strong defoliation, of course!

Never used anything but 3.5" square til now. But i see how it can boost yields. It allows more a more even canopy and I feel it promotes lots of tops by spreading the branches better. I also have noticed really small squares (like >2") seem to force more tops as the leaves/nodes are forced to go through such small squares and it makes them smaller and more abundant.

Strong defoliation is always a must!

Hmm! That could be!
I have not tried such small stitches yet. I tie my little ones down while vegging to get them in shape. No meanlining, but I try to create equal shoots early on without topping. In fabric pots you can easily make eyelets for it!
This way, I can even do it without a net and without loss in yield.
I like it when the little ones can swap the places and I can take them out, eg. for a flush or to check the weight of the pots! But I've pretty much always a few different strains in my small 2x 4' cab. Currently I have a BlueDream grown totally out of control(haze pheno). I've topped the upper half of the plant and left her only the 6 lowest branches but she stretch out tripple as much as the other strains(SuperLemonHaze, BlueCheese, Bubba'sGift + Amnesia).
With a net it would be a lot of work to get her out of the cab to bend her down.
Now she has almost a cubic shape, so she does not steal the other's too much light, lol! What a beast!?
Unfortunately she produce lots of bananas and I was afraid because of hermi seeds. God thanks the pollen seems not to be fertile, so no seeds until now.
Next grow is only from two keeper pheno's(SLH and Bubba'sGift, cuttings) and have chosen the short-compact pheno of both and this time I will definitely use the net again.

Update pic again, veg is going crazy now.

Lights just turned on.

Pulled the 2 top stems down a bit to level out the plant.

Watered today with recharge and a herculean harvest flush... my fucking runoff ppm was 2800! Need to get this soil flushed out asap as it will fuck with nectar for the gods. Will do another HH flush next watering and see what it's at. My other HH flushes have only given me 1600-1800ppm runoff so the fact i got 2800ppm this time tells me it really flushed a lot out this time so im keeping fingers crossed it's close to flushed fully.

You can see how fast it's growing though if u compare to 2 days ago. it's nuts.

I'm really hoping to pull close to 1.5 pounds out of her.
