Riot Seeds a Scam?

I don't know shit about his gear but this turdburglar pisses me off and here's why; he calls his company a "Punk Rock Seed Company" but there's NOTHING punk rock about his prices; NOTHING!!! he's more like the Hot Topic Seed Company. if ever our paths cross we'll see how punk rock he is... Johnny Ramone is spinning in his grave i bet...

after people saying he got seeds from them for med patients then turnig right around and selling those seeds for 180 + the guy is a con artist and bad business man from alot of people he has taken their stuff without permission and crossing it and selling it for 10x more.Eskobar from sannies was talking about this and i feel like that is just bad for business if people want to buy from riot just because he is more expensive thats just retarded

I don't know if I would use Greenhouse and Sensi as examples of reliable seedbanks. Greenhouse uses names like Bubba Kush, which they don't have, to sell there new genetics and there old lines are F2's or S1's of the originals via Shanti and Neville and Sensi's quality has dramatically dropped due to losing the original parents for a lot of there lines.
Sensi is not what it once was but it's still reliable, it still has quality, though not equal to it's past, and it is well above Green House Seeds ... but I'm surprised that a comment wasn't made questioning TGA being mentioned like it was for Sensi and Green House. With TGA strains you can end up with more phenotypes than 'Sweet Connie Hamzy' had dicks so I wouldn't exactly use TGA as a prime example of the highest quality.

I just find those three to be more reliable than others that I've dealt with.

Anyway, the problem seems solved enough. Riot emailed me back. Here's the letter in it's entirety

hey <name omitted>- we sold out of Blue Dream a few months ago and it hasn't been sold by us since. It was made from the Blue Dream Clone Only, reversed using chemicals, pollinated itself to make Feminized S1 Seeds. Thanks

Pretty much answers my question if he's being truthful. I'm sure by "chemicals" he meant colloidal silver or something. Still, S1 is too risky. I'd rather just a clone someday. For now I'll face facts that growing Blue Dream in the midwest is a pipedream.

True enough. I'm not trying to talk shit, I'm just viewing this as a perspective customer. I really really REALLY want to believe that's true Blue Dream. It's my favorite strain and I've been saying they need to find a way to make seeds for a long time, but it just seems to good to be true. And the fact that I'm not hearing anything back from Riot isn't helping.
You will see some true Blue Dream when Matt Riot finds a breeder that will donate some packs for the med patiants that are in desperate need.
Come on guys lets get them poor patiants some world class meds to grow.Get them seeds packed and shipped, they smoked up all the Blue Dream since thats one of the only strains that helps them get comfort, lol

The only reason I didn't say anything about TGA is because the quality is the same as it ever was and all of their seeds are the same reasonable price. Before Sub left breedbay I got almost his whole line of strains for $40 a 10 pack and you can still get them for $70 a 10 pack and that's only because you can't get them directly from him anymore and the seed banks raise the price. You didn't see him jack up the price of his Vortex after it won the Cali med cup. Also Sub is pretty honest about what his strains are. While there might be some variation among pheno's he doesn't make claims to complete stability and he doesn't claim to have strains he doesn't have and most all of his strains except for maybe a couple of the new ones are well documented. Sensi on the other hand is hard pressed to say their strains have changed at all and charge some high prices for strains that have changed in quality. Don't get me wrong Silver Haze was one of my all time favorite smokes but I've grown out 2 packs in the last couple years and it's not the same at all but the price is.

On a side note I like to use Subs gear to cross out because of the flavor and resin production. His strains definitely don't yield the best but you will more consistently get quality smoke from his gear than some companies charging $100+.

Sub's Royal Revenge x LA Con

This plant is devastatingly potent and has flavor like no other, Blueberry fuely funk (taste more like blueberry than any blueberry I've ever grown from DJ Short) I'll be keeping this girl around as long as I can.

I'm starting a collective, but my patients only want PlushBerry.

Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme .... :dunce:
I lol'd. But I think of it more like this: If he's doing it for patients in need, why are 6 less stable S1 seeds $90 when an exact replica clone was only $15 max at the collectives I frequented?

They're probably all S1's too. Even so, unless the breeder has the hard data to back up their claim of true BD seeds, I will remain a skeptic. I won't let it discredit the rest of their strains, but I'll still raise an eyebrow to that one.

The seeds I'm talking about are not riot BD seeds. They are Humboldt County Blue Dream seeds that I know for a fact are BD seeds. My caregiver dose not bullshit With 30+ years growing in and around the emerald triangle. If he says the BD seeds that he aquired just recently from Humboldt are BD then thats what they are. Don't think my brother in law has to bull shit me. In fact here are few strains that are going to be in our outdoor grow this summer: Blue Dream, OGAR, OG Fire,Purple Pine, to name a few. All of these strain are from in and around Humboldt County CA. will have pics of blue dream from seedling to fine full figured female just for the doubters.

Calm. The. Fuck. Down.

I said I'd like to see data. I didn't asked to be berated with a run-on sentence peppered with angry drawings. You offered little information about your source, the breeder etc. and I said I was skeptical. I didn't call you or your brother-in-law a liar. Had you offered your counterpoint more diplomatically I may have been willing to listen, but instead I'll just have to remain skeptical. If you can offer a straight answer without getting offended at the mere aspect of a stranger not instantaneously believing everything you say, feel free to do so.

I like the $100 bottle of sex change spray that should only cost you $5 at the local health store. What is that, a 2000% markup? Classy.

All of the reports I've read about Greenhouse Bubba is that it's sweet and bubba is more hashy coffee skunky weed, also their description says Kush x Bubble Gum which Bubba Kush is not.

The problem stems from there being no copyright laws in regards to strain names, no patents on the 'recipe' strains are made up of or any legal requirement that any strain name only be used with the same 'recipe' for any strain. That's why there are about 30 knockoff White Widows where some are mostly sativa and some are mostly indica and the flowering periods vary by as much as 20 days or more.

Any breeder can slap together any strains they have to work with and call the results anything they want and if they use a name of a famous strain they will fool some people into purchasing the strain from them even though it is genetically nothing at all like the original, so breeders like Green House Seeds can cross Bubble Gum and a Kush and also cross/combine the names of each and call it Bubba Kush.

There are no truth in advertising laws in regards to cannabis strains. It is strictly a case of caveat emptor, let the buyer beware.

If someone does not know things like what breeder created an original strain they are likely to end up with a knockoff because many will purchase by strain name and price but not by original breeder and actual genetics. If they do not know what an original strain was made from, what genetics went into it, they may not even end up with an actual knockoff that might at least be similar to the original and instead end up with something that is almost totally or is totally different than the strain name implies.

Growers have to educate themselves so they will be able to purchase what they actually want, and actually get it, or just accept that caveat emptor, let the buyer beware, applies to few, if any, things as much or more than it does cannabis strains and just settle for whatever they get.

Not a problem. Id definitely like to see the BD seeds. Feminized BD is totally possible, but pollinating a clone with a different clone will still prdouce seeds with different phenotypes. I don't have a doubt that an s1 is possible, but the seeds you get will most likely be at least somewhat different from a clone. If nothing else the various phenotypes will be interesting.
