and do you think its right to take a 29 dollar pack of seeds and a clone 10-20 dollars tops and sell seeds of that for 200+ DOLLARS?
That shit is nuts i dont see how people can do business like that.
Its called the "free market".

He can ask whatever he likes for his seeds.
If you don't like what he's asking, you can make a counteroffer, or if they're only being sold retail, simply not buy them at all.
At some point the demand and supply will equalize, and a "fair" price will be set.

Note that if this guy doesn't actually deliver the goods with his seeds, two things will happen

a. He'll quickly develop a bad reputation, then
b. In the hyper-competitive seed business, he'll be driven out of business.

So while I don't know jack about the actual quality of "Riot seeds", I am comfortable saying two things: With so many excellent seeds out there from breeders with good reputations, there is zero reason to take a chance paying a premium for unproven seeds. If Riot seeds are great, within 1-2 years this guy will have built a positive reputation, and at that point if the seeds are good enough they might be worth paying extra for. Until then, not me.

I lol'd. But I think of it more like this: If he's doing it for patients in need, why are 6 less stable S1 seeds $90 when an exact replica clone was only $15 max at the collectives I frequented?
Again, free market.

If you can a clone cheaper at a collective, then buy it there.

Not everyone has access to collectives with clones (let alone this particular strain), and some people prefer to start with seeds for a variety of reasons.

I don't think $15 is a "crazy" price for seeds *IF* they truly are excellent. (Which I think remains to be seen in this case).

They're probably all S1's too. Even so, unless the breeder has the hard data to back up their claim of true BD seeds, I will remain a skeptic. I won't let it discredit the rest of their strains, but I'll still raise an eyebrow to that one.
Well, apparently Riot claims these are S1 seeds made from a Blue Dream mother. I don't know what "data" you're willing to accept here. How can he prove that what he's saying is true? Even if he showed you actual video footage of him going into a collective, buying a clone, how he selfed it, and generated the seeds, you *STILL* wouldn't know for sure that the seeds in the pack were any good, let alone that they were what he claimed.

Either the guy is telling the truth about what he is selling, or he isn't, and ultimately this comes down to the guy's personal integrity. Can you trust him or not?

With absolutely no external regulation or review, pretty much the ENTIRE seed industry works that way, which is why REPUTATION is so important.

Again, if this guy sells good seeds, he'll develop a good reputation, and if he sells crap seeds, pretty quickly he'll develop a poor one.

Either way, its up to you to decide if you're willing to throw the dice taking a chance on his gear until he has established himself more.

Anyone ever heard of Black Domina, Black Diamond or Purple Deathcabbage? These were some of the darkest, hardest-hitting indicas I can remembers.
Black Domina was originally put out by Sensi seeds and this strain literally goes back probably about 20 years now to the early 1990s or late 1980s. Sensi still stocks it, and I think a few others may have their own versions.

As you say, its just a super-strong indica, deliberately bred as such. Its also another strain that shows that some of the "old school" stuff is just as good as the newer stuff from today.

Never heard of the other two, but I love that name "deathcabbage".

I think I'm going to name my next strain "psychedelic parsley".

Im growing Riot gear atm and it's well bred.

.....the strain (trix, golden dawg) is above the standard of most seeds co. cannabis that I have grown....I have paid a lot more for dutch seeds for weed that was UTTER TRASH.

Anytime you read about Matt Riot, bitches line up in dozens to tell you how he's a "scam, bad guy, republican,etc......"

(Then every 13th post will be someone whose grown/growing riot gear and has nothing but positive things to say about the man and his strains).

How much money have you spent on weed in your (short) life ?

How much cash have you made from selling other people's weed or your own?

Then you complain about the cost of a $15 seed- your a PUSSY !

Capitalism sucks, dont it...

Fuck off with your 1st world problems.

Im sick of all the bullshit about Matt Riot, seems a little like "thou protestest too much...." to me.
In other words, people who dont like him spend too much time trying to discredit him, yet, you should go to his site and see the high calibre of skilled, expert growers he's got there, growing and loving riot strains.

AND....I dont care who "stole" what strain off who, no one owns (holds a patent) on ANY cannabis strain! - It is all made by GOD!
(Would you prefer to buy into a clone only strain, cost ya more than $15 sucker!)

P.s..Dont wanna here bout your bad experience with Matt, go piss up a rope, you probably either deserve your bad fortune, or your just the competition pretending your an unhappy customer....

Peace, fuckers!

FWIW, Sickmeds ceeds out of Spain is offering legit Green Crack S1 ceeds at $76 per ten pack, or $7.60/ceed.

Riot is asking $140 for SIX ceeds, which at $23.33/ceed is fully 3x the price for the exact same thing.

Now again, Riot can ask whatever the heck he likes for his beans, but IMO, his asking price for these is just way out of line for what these are purported to be.

Green crack is a great line, but its not as if the strain is super-rare; to the contrary, its probably THE most popular "clone only" strain out there, and Green crack clones are amongst the easiest to find of any "clone only" line. Making the S1 ceeds just involves finding one clone, "reversing" it with colloidal silver or some other agent, and then self-pollinating to make ceeds, effectively the exact same thing as creating ANY feminized ceeds, same as EVERY other breeder does.

Since Riot didn't actually come up with this line, and there is quite literally ZERO actual "breeding" necessary to create the ceeds (which are genetically variable), its not at all clear to me why anyone would want to pay top dollar for these beans, the same (or more) per bean cost as award winning new lines from actual breeders.

Now that there is actual competition, I think Riot is going to either drop his price on these, or (more likely) drop the line entirely from his catalog.

What does that mean?
So far as I can tell, many of his lines aren't "bred" at all, at least not by him. They're just selfed clones or straight F1 crosses of other people's established lines.
Again, nothing wrong with selling those, so long as he's truthful about what he's selling, and I'm sure at least some of these are excellent in their own right, but at least in some cases I question the "premium" asking prices for what amounts to minimal "breeding" work on his part.

I have paid a lot more for dutch seeds for weed that was UTTER TRASH.
Not sure how you overpaid for ceeds in the past is really relevant here.

The question is, have you ever paid a lot *LESS* for ceeds that were a lot BETTER than Riots? In other words, are you getting VALUE for your investment in Riot ceeds or are you not?

Since Riot is charging top dollar for many of his beans are you getting the best possible genetics on the market for your money? Can you get equivalent or even better genetics elsewhere for less money?

Again, in the case of Green Crack S1 ceeds, you can buy those exact ceeds for 1/3 the price elsewhere. Now, that's just one example, and maybe in some cases Riot is the only one selling S1 versions of certain desirable clone-only lines so he may be the only game in town if you want certain genetics in ceed form, but in general, this doesn't reflect well on Riot ceeds as a value proposition.

How much money have you spent on weed in your (short) life ? How much cash have you made from selling other people's weed or your own?
What do these things have to do with the quality of Riots product?

Then you complain about the cost of a $15 seed- your a PUSSY !Capitalism sucks, dont it...
Capitalism is actually WONDERFUL, especially if you understand it.

Free market keeps prices down and means that eventually, people who overcharge for their product will go out of business.

In this case, the "complaint" isn't that Riot is asking $10-30/ceed. . .he can ask whatever he likes. The question is In a marketplace with 100 other breeders and 1000 other strains you can spend your money on, are Riot's ceeds worth what he's asking for them? Are you getting your money's worth when you buy his genetics? Can you get identical, equivalent, or even better genetics elsewhere for less money?

Again there are award winning lines from name commercial breeders that cost a fraction of what Riot is asking for some of his lines. Are those a better use of your limited buying funds?

Fuck off with your 1st world problems. Im sick of all the bullshit about Matt Riot, seems a little like "thou protestest too much...." to me. You come here on a thread about Riots gear with your TWO posts, and you're already sick of hearing about Matt Riot?

I think Gagekko has you pegged, Matt.

AND....I dont care who "stole" what strain off who, no one owns (holds a patent) on ANY cannabis strain! - It is all made by GOD!
The issue isn't who "owns" a strain, the issue is whether Riots gear is worth what he's asking for it, that's all.

(Would you prefer to buy into a clone only strain, cost ya more than $15 sucker!)
Not really. I've already mentioned Green Crack S1 ceeds above at less than $8 each, and there are ceed versions of other "clone only" strains for well under $15 each.

For actual clones, there is such a glut on the market now, that if you live in CA, for example, any number of rooted "clone only" strains can be had for $10 a cut, or in some cases even less. Costs are a little higher in Colorado and Washington state, but there are plenty of good clones (including some "clone only" strains) available for under $15/cut.

And of course, if you're actually connected in the community, its also possible to get clones for FREE, and this is traditionally how they've been spread around, but we'll assume this isn't true of the average home grower.
