NVGrower's First DWC/Hydro Mystery Seed Grow - February 2016

I got excited reading grow journals and thought now that my girls are about finished with their first week of flower I thought it'd be a good time to recap and share with the community. So let me get everyone caught up.

I donated money to a local delivery company in Nevada for an ounce of shake twice. I saved a few seeds and put them in a paper towel for a week and nothing happened. I put them under a 80 watt CFL light and they began the sprout. I got 4 that sprouted. I killed one because it was planted too deep and the other three all started growing at different rates depending on which seeds sprouted first. I put them in a 16 gallon tub in 4in net pots under 2x 80 watt CFLs and took the week searching forums, learning as I went. I had 16 old seeds from years ago (Ak47, one sprouted and died soon after in the tent with the other plants, you'll see in the pictures below.)

When the girls began. The lights were hanging from the inside of a standing ladder with space blankets wrapped around the ladder in the garage when I got started. This was on December 28th it began after germination.

Here is what I setup after the first week:

What strain is it? Unknown top shelf shake from a random delivery service.
Is it Indica, Sativa or Hybrid? What percentages? Two are sativa and one is indica.
Is it in Veg or Flower stage? In Flower
If in Veg... For how long? We vegged them 4 weeks roughly.
If in Flower stage... For how long? Ending the first week of flower on Sunday the 14th
Indoor or outdoor? Indoor
Soil or Hydro? Hydro/DWC
Water Temp 62*F to 71*F mostly below 69.2*F
Size of light? 1x 250 Watt HPS
Is it aircooled? No
Tub Sizes 3x 7.5 Gallon Black Tubs
Temp of Room/cab? 62* F to 77*F
RH of Room/cab? Tent is 3x4x6 I believe
PH of media or res? 5.7 to 6.2
Any Pests ? Small cat and small dog
How often are you watering? 24 hours a day. I change the res once every 2 weeks and add hydrogen peroxide in-between res. changes 1oz per 6 gallons.
Type and strength of ferts used? FoxFarm Hydroponic Grow Big, Tiger Bloom & Advanced Hydroponics pH up/down --- PPM 1100 - 950 during veg and PPM 960 - 750 during flowering

Picture timeline so far. I'll keep adding picture to the timeline here in this first post.

****Click on pictures below to enlarge them.

This is the setup after week one. The back far left is the indica, front left is a sativa and back right is a sativa, the front right tub was a AK-47 seedling that died (was very old). - January 19, 2016

Getting a little bigger -- I was figuring out how to lower water temperature. - January 30, 2016

The next day I cut off all the big fan leaves off the front left one and left one top set. - January 31, 2016

Here's a beautiful clipping from the front left plant, abundant nitrogen, I backed down 100 PPM after this. - January 31, 2016

Here is a side shot a few days after the big leaves were cut off. I wen't ahead and cut the big leaves off the rest of them - February 4, 2016

It's been a week roughly since we took the big fan leaves off the girls. They've really filled in. - February 7, 2016

They are roughly 18 to 20 in" and the shoots are starting the stretch, lot of b - February 7, 2016

Filled in over night and the leaves got bigger. The back right plant has struggled since it was a little seedling, after chopping off some bigger leaves that were limp and adding 200 PPM GrowBig it has come back to life and is about 13" now. It's the same look as the front left sativa, same strain I believe. - February 8, 2016

Wow, they're really filling the tent up, they are 2ft 7in" tall and the smallest one is about 15 inches tall. - February 10, 2016

Definable hairs showing on the indica in the back left!! - February 11, 2016

More Definable hairs showing on the sativa in the front left!! - February 11, 2016

This back right one might be a male or a hermie. See below for the steam to flower, the others don't have one of these. - February 11, 2016

Here is the back right sativa's stem with a flower, what do you think? I'm going to give it a few more days. - February 11, 2016

One last shot for the day! - February 11, 2016

Well I bought a net last night and put it in. I didn't bend the main cola down. I did however put the net in places where it shouldn't get any taller and should hold them down. I also pulled the branches under this morning again, last night they grew from where I'd placed them. I have around 20-30 tops and 10-15 of them are showing on top of the net. - February 15, 2016

Setup a heat exhaust line to the outside and added a 4in inline fan to help the exhaust. Kept a steady 88* F over 12 hours at 1000 watts. Room tempature lower than 75* F but above 70* F - Feburary 18, 2016

So I am finally seeing good bud zone activity and where all the colas will be. This is my first week using hydroguard and I've been running water temps between 72-75* F without any issues. They're eating nutes and water up like mad and have great roots. - February 26, 2016

Wow. They began to get all covered in crystals overnight. The 36 darkness did the trick, they didn't seem like they were in full flower yet at 6 weeks. Now they're all on track. I will continue with 11 hours of light 13 off until the end of week 6. I will drop it to 10 hours of light and then 14 hours of darkness for week 7 and for week 8 (if ready) I'll flush them with 7.5 hours light and the rest dark. -- Feburary 28, 2016

So I bought a 14,000 BTU air conditioner/heater/dehumidifier and the grow rooms temp is 77* F almost touching the lights and 73* F in the room and around 75* F at ththe canopy. Wow, look at these buds. Along with the schedule I am flowing as of week 5. My new Lighthouse Hydro 5x5x7 tent is here and I just finished making all the parts for the RDWC system I'll be converting over to. - March 5, 2016

I've been using a old 3x4x6ft tent with rope tying the PVC pipe together because the joints didn't fit, holes cut in it for wires, air lines etc. I had space blanket held up inside with scotch tape along with a two by four in the top with two bungee chords around it hooked to the light with two big fan attempting to cool the light down by pulling in AC. It was a cramped area for three plants and the scrog made it almost impossible to work with after a while when the plants gor bigger. They were about 12" from the light at the most too (1000 watt hps)

So, a few weeks ago I bought a lighthouse hydro 5x5x7ft tent and set it up in the corner of the garage for my next grow. So this morning I decided to start the transistion out of the tent my girls were currently in and got the entire setup done in 8 hours of work today instead of waiting for the next grow, I couldn't stand it anymore .

I'm beat. But wow, it's a beautiful setup now and I have my garage back which is roughly 165 sq ft. The garage has been insulated.

I've got a single side of the tent open with the 14.000 BTU ac unit blowing at the light at 68* F and a fan right behind it blowing air into the tent quicker. The whole tent is bludging with cold air now and the temps right under the light aren't going over 73* F yet. Checkout the pics. - March 13, 2016

Roughly three more weeks total grow time left to go. I broke a small branch off by accident and let it cute three days and then cut the buds off and dehumidified it for about 30 minutes. It smells like fruity candy. It's immature as far as it goes but not completely.

Just smoked it. Head high and feels really good. Not even flushed and it smokes smooth and feels great. Better than the weed we buy around here and its bud three weeks early.

Can't wait to smoke the real buds.

Wow. It's been almost been twelve weeks. I sure have learned a lot. Now time to flush! I ran hydrogen peroxide at 2.5 oz per 5 gallons of water for two days and now will change the resivors out and add Flawless Finish for the last week. Roots roots roots roots will make or break the plant.

It has been a great experience so far with my first DWC. Here are some pictures from tonight before the lights turned off. They're showered in crystals. Wow.

White ash. Pure white in person. I'm all about the flush. The other weed we've been getting from the stores is awful and full of chemicals and is black and white ash. Medical my ass. Killing us who have to smoke so much for profits.
