Haha I agree with you on a lot of it diodes cost is at most 20% of the total cost of the board.. so most would think there is not reason for china to not use good diodes.. but yeah sadly many dont.. even if they give you back yor money on the product they wont refund shipping and given its 50% of your cost or close to in most cases whats the point? Just reorder and let it slide.. thats the sad truth.. but either way I love my boards.. yea you buy peace of mind when you buy real hlg product but price wise china is definitively ahead and quality for the price is there as well imo imagine you dont get top bin.. 15-20% less efficient at most but 50% cheaper is still worth imo.. im not trying to discourage you from buying china light.. im totally for it but try to use sellers who have better track record than other is all I was trying to say..
Have you started you Quick Critical + 2.0 SOG grow yet? All that vegging must be nerve-wrecking what's your space again?

when they produce leds, they usually are not all of the same quality, that's the reason why they test them after production and then "bin" them according to the results. you can't distinquish between a top bin and a lower bin just from the look of it. they all look the same yet have a different amount of light output.

so again, my question to you: how can you be sure what the chinese producer sent you?

you can't
Easy... Doesn't take a rocket scientist...

I bet you the BC Blondes 960 , 301B "GameChanger" is legit. I like what they did there while still being around $2/w.
They're not making a fortune off of going a bin down... So it would be stupid to do it. Maybe some Momo out there is doing it, but I doubt the 'big 3' would stoop to that level. BTW, I bet you the BC Blondes board is made in China. Also, I bet you that BCBlond$1200 isn't gonna outgrow meijiu,r2T, H $600.

there are a lot of people who have ordered these panels and don't have any problems and their diodes are top bin.
LOL! You talk about "weak sauce" and then make this ^ outrageous claim? You have absolutely no way of knowing what any of those diodes are until you buy and test them for yourself.

Try to use a bit of logic here: all these Chinese panels are "top bin" according to the Chinese back-door artists (yes, the same manufacturers who are ripping off other designs and trying to undercut the companies that design and consign these boards).

So what is happening to the 80+ per cent of Samsung diodes that are not "top bin"? Where do they all go? Or does the magic Samsung Fairy wave a wand and say "Turn to LM301B AY SL!" and suddenly every diode is "top bin"?

Good luck with your purchase. No-one ever denied they won't grow plants. Come back and shows us when you do.

Why don't one if you guys buy one & have it examined by a pro.
I know this much. The word Samsung isnt an American word.

So you think BC Blondes bought they're boards from Alibaba then have another manufacturer in China make there fixtures? Ok. So what? It's still on them.
Almost all the led companies fixtures are made in China. Just about all diodes & Cobs are made in China.
We buy from reputable vendors to increase our chances of getting top bin good parts. Have a warranty & someone to hold accountable if anything goes wrong. Things we can't usually get by trying to cut out the middle man, which is earning there profits by standing by the product.
So, of all your boards happen to go bad at once, what would you do? Spend all your time trying to get some guy in China to stand up n take responsibility?
Personally, I dont see anything wrong with buying these China boards. As long as you're willing to accept the possibility of fraud.
As far as determining legitamicy, Cant you just take an hlg board & compare the Par readings & spectrum? At the end of the day that's what matters, No? That should determine efficiency as well. Efficacy would be TBD depending on life of diodes.
So you guys know. I'm neutral in this & see the advantages from bothe sides.

china made panels..have had em for couple years..

i gave up on the bin discussion thing a year or so ago..get em..use em ..
if you think the bin is a lower one ..move the light 1/2 " closer ..its not rocket science..

oh yeh..you gotts grow cannabis ok..thats the clincher..

i started with 561 b after making an order error..i still use them ..fk..i cannot tell the difference
but i am not losing sleep over worrying..

when its dry i may be able to drive nails with it..[joke].. sticky.. smelly..the plant didn't mind being grown by a chinese made light..Tusksrora.jpg

TBH... It sounds like you've never been royally fucked over before. Besides you don't know the real story behind this. I'm not trying to convince myself, but your hypothesis is kinda weaksauce... I think most of R2T, Meijiu, and Hansion are getting the picture and this is probably a thing of the past. It would be stupid not to ship the real deal in this high demand market. Besides, there was clearly som behind the scenes drama going on here and it's obvious egos were hurt in the process. But honestly, with many people raving about these panels spite the scepticism about diode integrity, I have not yet seen a side by side grow of the same strain between a Chinese vs US/Canuck board. In essence it's the same machining process, use of materials and probably diodes. It's a good smear to write off Chinese as garbage and fake... But look at our solar industry (example) and you'll see it doesn't really matter. On a principle level, I am all about supporting Western made goods over Chinese government subsidized goods. But is the same as shipping at Walmart... There is no premium or 'better' about boards made in America (and do you really think half the shit they claim to be american really is???) Seriously, no matter how good the engineers, the diode QB can't be a Ferrari vs a VW... And for copying: really? It's diodes on a board...
Preach...

Do you use them with heat sinks? Can't I just have the heatsink custom made cheap in China and use thermal tape to attach them, or do you recommend getting holes drilled?

I'd like your comment, but I am unable to for some gay reason... Got a link?
I can't actually send any links cuz I am new here, but if you have any insight on the attachments you can share what you think. I got a lot of the info from a grass city forum called 'alternative to hog quantum boards....the supplier'. I kept the attached files for future reference. This purchase cost $650 CAD vs $1349 for the Real HLG 550..

I should mention as well that I am not claiming this identical to the HLG550 but it's meant as a replica and performance seems very good so far. I am not sure yet if the real thing would make up the price difference for my situation

These are both 320w panels running the lm301b. I'm undecided on driver's. What do you recommend?
HLG-320H-48
HLH-320H-C
HVG-320
Get the HLG 320H 48A driver, 1 per board.
Dim with a screw driver if you need to.
Get a kilowatt meter maybe if you don't got one already.

I don't think you have enough boards to adequately cover a 6 x 6 though
Maybe later buy another 2 boards and run 4, 2 boards per driver

Actually my space changed from 6x6 to to about 2.46ft x 5.8ft or 75cm x 180cm. I am going to custom build the room to maximize the lights footprint and put one side in halfway through for perpetual. That's about 25 x 15cm 3L tall square pots under each light with a harvest every 45-50 days. I will run a manifold watering system through the 5 rows with a pump on a timer to water about 3-4 times a day in coco. My aim is to get 1g/w. Maybe a bit ambitious?

Do you know who has these driver's the cheapest?

You will reach 1g/w easily with white led (chinese or not) dont worry about this.. especially with your sog grow ! Hope youll share pic once you are set up!
