Playing with BHO and IWE

my oil gets up to temp within 10 mins... and i can pull it out and measure the temp and its the same as when its in the chamber and i point it at it. i am really not sure what do say about your experience with the temp gun but it really is the most accurate way for me. either way fuck it you have gotten your stuff to wax now

OK so getting a new camera delivered tomorrow because I was tired of my lame pics So will post up pics of the winterized sativa lavender and the newest batch of the bubba kush winterized as well. Probably gonna try to "budder" the kush oil up just to compare and to let my other patients which they prefer as well.

I would advise STRONGLY against whipping to create budder.
The process involves vigorous agitation of the extract..

The agitation degrades the extract by compromising the stability of the oil, also you are literally incorporating atmospheric contaminates, including moisture and air with whipping.

Properly processed oils can last years at a very slow degradation rate. But once you have whipped...potency and quality degrade rapidly..terpenoid loss occurring the moment the whipping is initiated.

Kase, Yes very smart investment! Your lungs will thank you.

sirdabsalot is right on too. I'd loose the whipping. May smell better at first but terps will disappear quickly.

Alright got my vacuum pump, getting a couple jars tomorrow and then it's really on like donkey kong!

I can't get anywhere close to how much my tubes say they can hold and I'm using slightly ground up herb... am I not packing it tight enough?? It seems like I pack it well...

It's 12x1.5x1.5 they say it's a 60g tube but the most I've put in is a oz...

So ya it's a waxtec 60 gram model. Just ordered this one, will be here tomorrow hooray, it says it will do 150 untamped or 300 tamped. I will be stoked if I can fit 150 packed

Tube question guys.....??

Gonna run some more sativa wax tonight, ran out of that super quick, probably with the soma lavender again. So nerding out thinking about what strain wax to run next buahaha After the sativa wax I will probably run my strawberry blue trim. Really great hybrid strain that is strawberry cough crossed with blueberry, super crystalline trim. Love all the strains I have!!

And oh yeah!! Yielded 17% from this last batch of bubba kush oil from bud,woooo!!

me dont like how the tube has an inner diameter of 2.5 inches..
i had a tube that was 18 inches long, and 2.25 inches ID(inner diameter).

that tube was work! the ID is too large, so to make sure my butane hit as much material as possible, i had to draw a star shaped pattern with the tube while blasting to hit the sides..

i dont prefer a tube over 1.5 inches in ID now..

but if you are curious, my 18inch tube held about 2-3 ounces of material depending on my packing density.. a good avg of 2.5 ounces went into that tube...

as long as you prep the material correctly, and pack fairly snug, but not too tight, you should hit a qp or so..

Well I will keep the star pattern in mind and will probably blast an extra half can to be on the safe side. Thanks Guzias I liked the neoprene attached and haven't found an easy place to get a 24-36" by 2" preferably piece of pyrex tubing...

Tonight once again packed a very tight load and still only fit half of what the company said I could do

What kind of material and how are you preparing it?

Your tube has about 21 cubic inches and I would normally pack about 89 grams of prime bud in that space, if it were ground to 10 mesh and packed to 4.2 grams per cubic inch density.

Material unground or packed to less density, will weigh less, but that should give you a good upper limit. Trim also weighs less than prime bud, because of the buds higher resin content, which weighs more per unit volume than the rest of the plant material.

On a side note, 1 1/2" tube is a little big for a single pass column. It is harder to pack so that the butane doesn't just find an easy way through, than something under an inch.
