Playing with BHO and IWE

So this is kind of a introduction and the start of many experiments with Butane extractions. I am a (pretty) experienced grower of about 12 years. First part indoor and have graduated to outdoor. All the buds and trim have been self grown and are totally organic.

So these examples are literally my first runs with butane. I have run many batches of ISO hash... never really did QWISO with it to the degree that people are doing.

First batch (in clear container) was approx 12g of Bubba Kush nugs and most of 1 can of colibri. Experimenting with amount of breaking up. These are being run because there are a few buds with PM on them, I am eliminating the bad ones to be on the safe side, but as I supply to a few dispensaries they absolutely can't go there in bud form. The second batch (on plate) I used about 26g of the bubba kush nugs with most of 2 cans of Vector 5x. This time I hand broke up a little less. Whipped a bit thru the heat purge. But both batches turned out on the shatter side. Both are very smooth but the 2nd batch is a bit more smooth in mine and my girl's opinion. Very red from the use of buds too, but in the pics that show the finer strands it is very amber colored as well.

Excited to share and post more. I am bound to share some pics of my garden as well as more of my experiments with oil. Here are some of the other strains I will be playing with for my extractions: MK Ultra, Soma's Lavender, Grape Ape, Naples, and New Goo.

Hope you Enjoy!!

looks a little under purged, hard to tell in pics, but the little bubbles on the side of the container in the first pic make me think that.

good looking color, have you looked into vac purging, or winterizing

Hmmm... it's pretty awesome you can see that in these pics. That container had a small bit of a batch that my friend made that I thought was a little under purged as well.

These 2 batches are definitely purged, I have seen enough properly and under purged oils and smoked them to be able to tell. I was actually wondering if I purged too long from the consistency and color of the second batch. I definitely am interested in getting a vac system going eventually and probably will play with winterizing the oil as well.

Easiest way to tell; any snap, crackle, pop or bubble when you burn it?

It should make not a single sound if its pure. (Assuming you don't smoke red hot nails)

So what's the most consistent way of buddering bho? I whipped multiple times, do you just whip once for 5 minutes?? After I have spent quite a bit of time researching, apparently this is the one thing I was off on...

buddering is extreme whipping I believe, which basically traps tiny tiny air bubbles, but doesnt dry it out. I was going to test a whip session "budderking" style via whipping it with an electric DRILL!!!!!! with a dentist pick at the end. see how that turns out. last time I whipped, dried, whipped, dried, I got this:

here a recent batch I was just playing with, very underpurged. made with FRESH buds, kind of buddered up real quick and stayed like that.

wax is extreme drying, which also kind of traps tiny tiny tiny air bubbles, except its dried, and possibly lost a little bit of taste (some guys here would only use this in edibles, and wouldnt even smoke it.........)

like vacPurge said whipping only traps the stuff in there and breaks down terpenes
sorry if its not vac purged or winterized that stuff is under purged, look into winterizing it doesnt require the vac purge setup and it will clean up your hash

Have a hard time believing that no matter how long I heat purge or air dry it is still "under purged" Twitch....

Let's say I've gotten all the butane out of the mixture using a heat purge and a vac purge, but I am still not getting that waxy look and feel I am going for. How long should I let the oil sit on the griddle at less than 150 for. Do you let it go for days? There's so much misinformation on the internet and youtube that I am getting frustrated. Keep in mind, the material was from 3 harvests ago (ouch) and may have even been a little moldy as in no real visible trichs. I have some primo sour kush nug that I think I'm gonna run 100 grams tommorow with and see if that's the difference. Don't wanna fuck it up, you know.

the fresher the better
try keeping the temps at 130 that is the magic number i use, 150 is the threshold you dont want to cross because it will cause it to be goo forever
and when i do mine it is left under a continuous vacuum for 3 to 36 hours depending on the strain, some wax up quick some take longer
get an inferred thermometer(with the laser pointer) that will help you get an accurate read of your temps

look at this, guzias, vacpurge, i and a few other people have combined what we have learned into this thread

Thanks Twitch. I really appreciate the info. So when you say you let it sit under vac for up to 36hrs does that mean with the pump running or just under full vac and also is that on the heat as well? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Best Regards.

Yes I was and do appreciate ALL advise! What I was saying was obviously imo. I'm a very low key guy and know I can learn a lot from fellow gardeners as much as I can pass on information as well :)

Running a straight soma' s lavender kiefy trim and popcorn bud batch with power 5 and doing a longer purge with a 99% ISO wash and filter.... should be finished up tomorrow evening to show you guys.

nice, winterizing it is something i would recommend to people that are doing it for themselves, people that want quality over quantity, and if you dont have a vac chamber.

i have only had to do the 36 hour thing once, usually i can do it in 12 now, and when i do it i do run the pump continuously. there are others on here that cant run it 24/7 so they will get a full vac and leave it for a little bit then come back and re-vac it. the reason being the bho on the inside is off gassing so it is constantly changing the pressure in the vac chamber and yes make sure the heat is on too. the thermometer really helps so you know what the surface temp of the bottom of your vac chamber is.

Well my medicine is grown mostly for myself, my girl and my mother in law but whatever extra I give to the club's so everything I give them is basically personal grade. Glass jar cured, organic, no shortcuts and lots of love :)
