DSC02228.jpg<-- current grow, week6

Greetings to all and welcome. I am not a cop, despite my name (should have been UNDERCOVER CrOP). Please dont come here and hate me if officer Doofey busted you when you were a teen.
CopWithWeed.jpg

Im starting this thread with the hopes of collecting a few intelligent types that would ride along with me as I go through my second grow. I have several years of growing under my belt, most of it being several years in the past so Ive forgotten quite abit over the years. I have since then moved, and have set up my new grow room and am currently in week 6 of my first grow (I will post pics here to show some bud porn before I chop her). I've re-learned alot, both from usual hard way and also from alot of good people here. There are alot of friendly experienced growers here who love to help, I thank you all. I hope that I can help a few people here with this thread, either setting up their first grow or questions about my techniques (or if you have suggestions for me, Im always learning)

I grow for myself (obviously lol) and for my mother who suffers from chronic pain due to degenerative disk disease and R.A. MMJ has only recently been legalized in AZ and they still dont have a plan for licensing dispensaries. If anyone has any suggestions for how best to go about getting a patient card in AZ (my moms main doc said he doesnt approve of MMJ... prob cuz he's a money hungry pill pusher that loves his kickbacks from Pharm mfgs... ugh thats another forum tho) or tips on getting my AZ caregiver's card, please leave your input here. Much appreciated.

So the reason Im excited for this grow, besides finally having a respectable setup and dedicated grow room, is that I finally have good genetics. Due to the fact I only know 2 people beside my mom who smoke herb, finding good seeds is next to impossible. I was VERY apprehensive about ordering seeds (an intercepted pkg actually could mean issues for me where it wouldnt for others, Ill leave it there) But I was finally able to get some seeds from the Attitude during their Lucky7 promo in Jan.
DSC02238.jpg

So this grow Ill be raising...
1. Delicious Seeds "Fruity Chronic Juice (FCJ)"*fem
2. G13 Labs "Blueberry Gum"*fem
3. Kannabia Seeds "AutoHobbit"*fem
4. I already had germinated a seed that I was told was Purple Urkle, which Ive since learned is a clone only strain, so I am going to assume it is actually a Blue Cheese which is very common around here and is what I currently have flowering.
DSC02243.jpg

I also have 11 other mexican bagseed sativas which are baby seedlings, and will soon be thinned down to 6 which will then go directly into 12/12. They are only a week old so I will consider them 12/12 from seed for the sake of argument/experimentation. So I will also be documenting my "12/12 from seed!" grow here, however I have been burned sooooooo many times by bullshit fucking mexican cartel brick bagseeds going hermie, that I wont be suprised if they all turn hermie. This last grow I germinated 15 total seeds, and EVERY SINGLE ONE except the quality Blue Cheese indica ended up hermie/male. I almost didnt want to grow until I got good genetics, I coldnt take the headache of watching my jungle thin down to 1 single lonely plant in my 6x6 flowering box.

My room consists of a 2nd floor 12x12 bedroom. I will be installing a portable 2 tube air conditioner soon (I HAVE to before summer) and will then be sealing the room and using CO2.
DSC02148.jpg2011-12-20 20.55.50.jpg

For seedlings I have a homemade 28Wx32Hx26D nursery box with 2 homemade cfl reflector fixtures with 13 total 26w cfl's. I hope to soon upgrade to 2 2' T5 fixtures w/ PAR specific tubes.
2011-12-11 20.31.56.jpg

For veg I have a homemade 52Wx40Hx28D box with a 4ft 8 bulb Radiion T5 fixture with a PAR specific blend of bulbs. (recently upgraded from a 4bulb fixture)
2011-12-20 20.57.01.jpg

For flowering I have a homemade 6'Hx6'Wx40"D box with a 400w HPS/MHc in a 6"cooltube (I will likely be getting another 400w/cooltube to run inline with the current one, same exhaust fan sucking, just plug another tube/light onto the open end of the existing tube... ever seen a 4ft long cool tube before???) I also have 2 4ft 4bulb Radiion T5 fixtures with PAR specific bulbs for flowering to supplement the HPS on either side.
2011-12-20 21.00.04.jpg2011-12-17 22.55.30.jpg

I will be running a sterile DWC hydroponic system, no organics. I see no benefit to using organics when using hydroponics, I give my plants exactly what they want without relying on a bio-subculture of microbes/fungi etc to process organic nutrients into useable food for the plants. I give them what they want, nothing more nothing less. Ill be using 3.5/5 gallon buckets with homemade lids to accomidate Emily Garden net pots (I like em lol).

For Nutes, Ill be using GH Flora series 3part as the primary nutes, along with the occasional use of ... H2O2, epsom salts, superthrive, hygrozyme, koolbloom, GH PH up/down, blackstrap molasses.

I promise to post lots of pics (I love my camera!) and try to keep this updated alot more frequently than I did my journal. I think it will be alot easier to post a quick update than to sit and write out a big long summary of the last week or two. All questions/comments/compliments/shared knowledge/friends/frenimies... ALL are welcome, just be respectable and bring the love.

Now..... BUDPORN!:hump:
(all from my current week6 Indica ?blue cheese?)

Nice, thanks guys, right now I only have the one flowering indica, but have all my seedlings coming along nicely. I will be moving the 6 mexican sativa's into their 6pot bubbler and into flower either today or tomorrow.
I also plan to chop up the hermied sativa that I stuck in my garage. Its only week 6 but it hasnt grown at all since week 4 when I put it into the garage. I dont think it'll grow anymore either and the hairs are turning mostly brown, I'd kinda rather just save the 150w that she's using and chop. So Ill post pics of that thru the dry/cure process (still trying to get the cure down, never have done it to my satisfaction yet) Its super low RH here and I only need to dry for 2days before jarring.

I also have 4 more UVL Red Sun T5 tubes on the way. Aquarium specialty sent 2 Fiji Purples to replace my dud red suns (2of4 dud within a week)... but both Fiji's were broken in half when they arrived. AS was all out of anything good, so I got a refund and bought another 4 from Heliolights.com for cheaper. So my flowering T5 panels will get more good red, then I plan to get some UltraGrowth/UltraCola's when they come out, or Giessemann AquaFlora's to add to the red spectrum.

2011-12-20 05.21.26-1.jpg <-- 2nd one down, burned out
2011-12-24 01.09.16.jpg <-- middle two red tubes are both lit, bottom is burned out
DSC02231.jpg <-- busted Fiji Purps

So I should have 4 new Red Suns this week which I will of course be posting pics of once installed, I will then be moving my seedlings from their nursery to the veg box under the T5 8bulb. (and the 6 baby sativas into 12/12-flower)

Wow, I'm amazed at the bad luck from AS. For such a big company you'd think differently, at least they're willing to work with you on it.

Have you tried out the Coral Waves yet? I know PF mentioned that 2/8 was too much for veg but i'm not sure what he had for flowering. Did you find a combination that worked for flowering/see much benefit?

Also, the UltraGrowth Wave looks awesome. Do we know when it will be available?

Very nice setup bro, good job, I particularly like the T5 side lighting, surprised we don't see that more often, your plants aren't going to want for light that's for sure. I'm going to build a small closet grow box and I want to use either these: (---->CLICK HERE<----) or these: (---->CLICK HERE<----) for side lighting, the 70W 4-Pin Floros (2nd link) put out 5200 lumens, that's quite a bit of light for a relatively small bulb.

oTm... Im running 2 coral waves in flowering right now (one on each side) and have had no problems, Ive had a few large fan leaves press right agains them and they only got a white line across the leaf where it touched, only bleached the pigments.. eventually as the leaf grew the bleached strip dissipated/shrunk/healed :) I wouldt really recommend using them in veg, Ive read that the IR can induce flowering early even under a long photoperiod (I know the deep red wavelengths, 700+ are highly involved in triggering the flowering phase) In my flowering box I basically use them as a blue bulb with the benefit of the IR. I also have a ExoTerra ReptiSun 10.0 26w cfl at about 8" to provide UVB, I dont have much to compare to but I see no ill effects and the tops are frosting up nicely... I plan to add another for coverage when I flower these 4 indica seedlings.

SativaMe... 4ft T5's put out 5500 lumens at 54w (lumens are a measurement of light designed for humans, some lights are rated with lower lumens but they actually put out more PAR light which is what the plants see... so lumens really dont matter much when it comes to plants) but using lumens as the benchmark, T5's put out 5500 lumens for 54w vs 5200L for 70w... so if you have a 4ft area to cover, the T5's are actually more efficient and give you more possibilities for tweaking the spectrum for better growth response. But the 2nd one (like a big CFL) looks pretty decent for a smaller area (You'd just need the special 4pin socket/fixture for em). The first link looks like a 2ft T5 would be a lot better choice. 2ft 4bulb fixtures are $70 w/ bulbs ... on ebay. Im sure there are 2bulb 2ft fixtures, prob around $50 w/ bulbs.
Im sure those would work fine tho, I know power compacts are available for aquariums, the reflectors they show look alot like the ones in my t5's. I just dont know what kinda selection there would be in replacement bulbs.

I posted this in the Club T5 thread (https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-fluorescent-lighting/493026-club-t5-5.html#post7004176), but wanted to post it here also just to show why I am so excited to be growing again and that I can finally get away from this shit, dirty rock hard mexican cartel brickweed. (then someone had asked about my resinball lol)

"View attachment 20215382011-12-28 01.00.47.jpg
I even broke some off to make it exactly 28g, that cut is smooth as marble lol (I originally had a qp of it, but didnt take a pic till it was wittled down to this. luckily its not usually this bad.
View attachment 2021541

View attachment 2021546This is just a collection that has accumulated from scraping out my stem, and is kept around for dire emergencies lol. yes it tastes like ass to smoke, but it can give you a buzz enough to fall asleep when you're dry. And its MUCH bigger now, prob closer to 80-90g lol... "

UPDATE!!

Sorry if this is short, I gotta get to bed but wanted to update since Ive been so busy :)

So I moved the lights around abit to accomodate the 6 dirty mexican sativas that are about 10days old, and are going under 12/12 now to try to keep them relatively short. Ill still top them (possibly more than once) so they'll hopefully stay bushy. But Im completely convinced that they will all go herm at some point, and Ill have no problem killing em off if they're gonna pollinate my good feminized strains they'll be living with soon.

DSC02279.jpgDSC02281.jpg
Ill be moving the lights around again soon and putting the 6 seedlings under the t5's only, then moving the cfl fixture back to the nursery box for cloning later.

I had 12 seedlings going when I germinated my 3 good strains, so I had to thin out a few. I moved the 6 best sativas into 12/12, then took the 3 newly germinated seedlings + the one (blue cheese) seedling and two other sativas to fill a 6 pot bubbler. So I still have 12 seedlings, just 6 vegging and 6 in the flowering box.
DSC02268.jpg

I harvested the one sativa I had in my garage (because it turned hermie but still had nice buds, but it stalled and I cut it at week 7) currently drying/curing and hope to get about 1.5-2oz from it.
DSC02253.jpg

I also got actininc and colormax bulbs for my houseplants in my living room :) I love the look, and my plants are responding quite well also. Mostly aloe vera and blue agave and desert succulents which are perking up and showing new development, love it!

I don't know what to say. Words fall short of the sheer badassery of your grow.

What strain is that lead nug? Did you move much after smoking that ounce you broke off? Thank you for enlightening the community to what a 62g res ball looks like... there aren't enough of those around here.

Congrats on the harvest, have you sampled your work? What'd you think? Are you're struggling not to harvest the indica? She's looking mighty fine in that light tent of yours.

Good Growing!

P.S. Way to use the T5s outside the grow!

Why thank you!
I like my set up too, its kinda ghetto but I can look around my room and remember the time spent building every piece just how I wanted, I dunno, its more rewarding than dropping big $ for a prefab setup with no personality lol.

The strain could be called "nogales diesel" or "mexican dog turd"... No strains involved there my friend, that shit came here in a gas tank lmao!

The lights over my houseplants are just cheap T8 fixtures from ace hardware, 15$ea. + bulbs. If they were t5s they'd be in my room :) I did have 6500k t5s over em for a short time, and its almost like they prefer the weaker but spectrum specific T8 bulbs.

I have 2oz+ harvested from the sativa (from dirty brickweed seed) that is jarred and being cured. Just starting cure, but it already has a nice spicy pine smell, not too much chlorophyll smell. I've never really mastered curing, its so dry here that after cutting, branches are pretty dry and stems snap in less than 2 days, so its almost trim then straight into jars to cure/dry over the length of 2 weeks +++ (or as long as I can) I'm not worried about bud rot here... I'm happy to see RH above 20%, so my only concern is that they don't dry out too fast.

The indica is starting to show nitrogen deficiency which I've been expecting after getting such low doses since starting to flower, so I'm not worried. I gave her some gh grow so it doesn't get too bad, but shes getting older and heavier and we all start to lose our edge as we age don't we lol. Im still seeing new growth so ima let her keep going. I think the pink pistils are being enhanced by the UVb, cuz I didnt notice them at all until I added the reptisun 10.0... Food for thought :)

I know it sounds rediculous,
but I believe youhave too much light for the amountof space/vigor level of your plants.
Those seedlings should beperky as hell at thatsize..

I never thought I'd see myself do it, but I have to keep my13w(!!!) cfl atLEAST 5"from my tops, or they curl down like bitches.

That cfl fixture is going and the seedlings are going under the t5s, the cfls work well and are usually alot closer but that fixture doesn't cover both rows (of 3) very well. And the side lighting is being wasted on the seedlings, so I gotta shuffle the lighting abit like I said. Not too much light, just not being utilized efficiently enough. The 6 seedlings are only on their 2nd day of 12\12, and I have actually noticed them perk up since moving in (those pics are about an hour after moving into their new home) I did have some leaf bleaching on the indica after I had her too close to the HPS when I first got the cool tube.
