Looks like at least a few weeks to me. The pistils haven't started to retract and the buds aren't swelling yet, so you still have a ways to go.

Not the prettiest "bud porn" around, but I think for a product of it's enviroment, she's a supermodel, haha
I'm itchin, haha, how much longer ya think. I want to give these " red " bulbs times to effect
:peace::blsmoke:
I would honestly leave them another 2-3 weeks. Spend like $20 on a microscope and watch for the Trichs to turn amber. Best bud is high % amber :D

You say "swelling"....Do you think throughout flower, they swell, stretch, swell...The reason I ask, I try to examine every bud I can find, once a day. Some days I am all happy cause they look fat and plump, other days they are not dense at all( you can almost see through them). Then a couple days later they are fat again. Is this a behavior of MJ or am I seeing shtuff?

Imagine what this joker would look like under a 600w hps...............

What kinda dog is that johnathan? Cool looking picture with him smiling, I enjoy it every time I see it!

Sometimes they do stretch while they are flowering and sometimes they don't. The higher the watts of your HPS the closer and denser your buds will be cuz it won't need to stretch for the light it will have it freely provided.

My very first forum post. I have been reading and learning as I grow my first "crop" started with next to no knowledge and since I am not a smoker had even less of an edge.
I will first tell you what I started and why, indoor, seeds from my brothers bag (therefore no knowledge of what kind of plants I am growing (avoided the word weed there so as not to offend). Now 4 the why... After 10 years of back surgeries, massive amounts of pain pills and crazy strong pain patches, muscle relaxers and such with little to know relief I have decided to try something different, I live in a no medical state so I am growing in a room of the house I own with my husband. My husband and I are both college educated and relatively intelligent. I write all of this simply to say....

Thank you!
I was suffering from trying to tweak the heck out of my 7 (out of 8 seeds) girls, There can be some serious info over load here on the web and Advice Point #1 was especially helpful! I am of course still trying to figure out what small problems and still reading tons, but that simply word of advice was hugely helpful.

I vote ignore the guy that thinks your an A$$, as a noob I say well done!

Ok, I am off to research where to buy seeds safely for my next grow.

Thanks Again

~Lady

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this, I have been fairly busy

I wanted to make a post that would very simply get Noob's to calm down and stop fretting/fussing over things, by making some simple common sense statements (that I know outdoor growers would get) and get a plant to grow and finish with fewer problems as growing MJ is an ongoing learning experience.

You decided that I was somehow throwing stupid facts I pulled from "somewhere" out that needed to be rebuked???

Here is what I think,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Simply Google "PH of Rain" and you will see that it is now normal for it to be 5.6 unless in high industrial/polution areas where it has been reported down in the 2's (acid rain) It is not the same everywhere and is affected by CO2 level in the atmosphere

They are not "constant" there are clouds, there are days of no sun due to weather, hell there are eclipses. light cycles are different in different locations around the earth. Outdoors there is shade from all different kinds of obstacles

I should have used the word "specific" here it is well known that mother nature adds nutes in the form of natural decay. Things die and are leeched back into the soil, it's how mother nature works, But she does not add specific nutes at specific times. She does not instruct a bat to pop on a plant to make its buds bigger

Actually mollasses is much more, and while over a period of time these things are added naturally, my statement remains true, she does not add mollasses

My point here was more about "light leaks causing hermies" and I used the moon as an example (I could have used street lights) several post here say to get rid of ALL light leaks but outdoors YOU CAN'T so all plants grown outdoors should be hermies we should just accept that? my point is/was not to fret over it

and, I have been smoking MJ for over 40 years, I know for a fact that there are males in all of the many pounds of swag (mexican) I have consummed, so smoking male leafs is not a big NooB reach for me. Read Marijuana Chemistry by Micheal Starks 2nd edition and you will see that there are strains where the males actually have more THC than females.

I am currently reading Gardening-Principals of Horticulture 4th edition, I have over 45 books on gardening and growing MJ in my collection (I also have over 20 movies on growing MJ)

and lastly, calling it a weed is in no way meant to be disrespectful, I love this plant in so many ways and on so many levels. I fully understand its classification, that set aside for a momment, we call it weed because it acts like a weed and grows like a weed

You should consider setting "emotions" aside before degrading someones post that was intended to help others??? my 2 cents

Flame away folks :bigjoint:

Lady,

Welcome to the thread. Just a bit of advice to offer on strain selection- Indicas tend to be a lot easier to grow then Sativas, and since they flower faster and stay (relatively) small they tend to be pretty ideal for an indoor grower. They usually don't pack quite the punch a Sativa does, but they will still do the job, especially if your someone thats not used to smoking. A lot of us older hands on this board have had 20+ years to build up a tolerance for THC, so strains we consider mid grade will still knock a newcomers socks off. :) Im partial to dj shorts blueberry myself, which is a very easy to grow Indica dominant crossbreed.

Welcome Lady and your very welcome, please feel free to come in and ask questions anytime!

Well today I got some Grand Daddy Purple, awesome look (bag appeal), a good friend told me that he took one hit and it put him down, now that is saying alot because he goes thru like an 1/8th a day,,,so when he said one hitta quita I knew I had to go get some

Did some research and discovered it is a clone only strain, seems no one has seeds my friend was going to get some so we'll have to see

I will post a smoke report once I try it

I like how Chaos will stop strangers in there tracks @ the door, while people he knows comes in freely. I can watch 3-4 guys walk pass him wagging his tail and that last guy thats never been here about pisses his pants when Chaos sneaks around everyone to say ... HEY WHO ARE YOU??? He won't let them in till I tell him they are ok, and then he'll stay by me watching the newcomer.....I love this dog, I want a Blue with his personality and build. The cable guy learned that he needs to knock every time( even if the home owner knows hes there) He came walking in the front door and Chaos about tore a hole in the carpet getting to the front door, I've NEVER seen him buck up like that. The cable guy made me lock him up, hahahahah

Having said all that my 3yrold son can crawl all over him and he's like a grampa

Hiya Riddleme,

Just had to pause reading through to post, this is what I've been looking for, some common sense before my head explodes from all the contradictory advice given. Still have to read through the rest of your threads/journals and then on to UB's!! Now I know its bad karma etc to laugh at someone else's misfortune but dayum that cat pissing in the pot made me HOWL and I wasn't even stoned!!! Really hope that plant made it through LOLOL!! As for your 'super tonic', I have read (not on this site) that some give their ladies coca cola in their water, although 'Grandma's molasses' does sound so much more wholesome lol. At least I am now calm and looking forward to my first (kinda second) grow without all the apprehension I had 2 days ago as to what can go wrong, just gonna go for it and see what happens. I certainly do NOT have a green thumb, hell I can kill artificial plants!! As well as that, I'm just no good with technical specs etc, I read CFM, lumens, PPM etc and my brain goes ooowiiieeee make it stop!! I'll get there, will probably understand more in practice rather than theory.

As of now I am compiling my shopping list, I already have 5 seeds which were bought over 2 years ago, hopefully they're not too old, and a light (its a small flourescent with 2 11w bulbs, lumens: 500 and 3500k if thats the correct way to write it) I now know its wholey inadequate but it'll do to start them off in a heated propagator until my HPS arrives, I know you prefer CMH but this was only £45 all inclusive, I will get the better light when funds permit.

The last grow 2 yrs ago resulted in a very tall spindly looking plant that was on 24 hr light, which was also about 2 ft away from the seedling, now I know why I ended up with such a leggy thing, after 3 months of wondering why nothing was happening it was unceremoniously dumped on the compost heap!! If only I'd done some research!!

Anyhoo, I digress enough, thank you for a great read (and more to come, you write a lot man!!), books will be on order ASAP, and everything should be ready for kick off in about 2 weeks, can't wait and if it's a flop, I'll have learnt something and be ready for another go!! Thanx again!!

Now I'm going to have to get a picture of my boys and post them. :) Archie and The Beast. One's a 40# Austrialian Sheperd, the others a 110# black lab that is the doggie version of Jethro Clampitt (big, loveable and dumber then a doorknob for those of you who didn't get the reference). :)

Now that my friend is a dog, probably kinder tan all of ours, but would just lay on top of all ours and win in a fight!!

Hooo, I made it!! That was a looong read and only the FIRST, OMG brain ache, in a good way, not the aching confusion I've had till now. Amazing grows, amazing recoveries and above all AMAZING KNOWLEDGE from everyone, not just opinions and hearsay!

About your 'NooB comp' how about something kinda like the MJ Noob Oscars (yeah i'm chilling with a fat one after all that study haha!), could base it over a year, have several nominees for different categories eg. most improved, most innovative, best grow, hell you could even have best male and female in a leading role haha!! No real prize, the winner just gets to brag a little!!

Would also like to know what you more experienced growers think of water curing, apparently it removes a lot of smell and taste in the process, which is not an issue and a long way off for me, just pondering as I do.

Think I'm gonna roll me another fat one :bigjoint: and call it a night , see you in class tomorrow teach

BTW pondered up a little idea and I've got a pressie for the teacher when I get my lappy back from repairs, need a program i dont have on this piece o garbage, a little way to say THANK YOU and to give you a laugh !

And to the naysayers, pffffffft ... kiss-ass the proof is in the pudding and I looooove pudding!

I was doing some reading on moonshine recipes ( my watermelons and grapes will be ready soon) and a wonderful thought came to light. I mean I got really excited!! I wonder ( if I had the luxury of a spare plant ) if I could chopp her up, after she's done flowering and curing, boil EVERY thing even the roots in sugar or some fruit like peaches or watermelon, let it all ferment............

What my question is, .... do you think the THC would travel through the still in the alcohol, creating a stoney drunk????

If so I am getting extreemly STOKED.....All this waiting Ive been doing,,, I'd hate to experiment with my 1st and only plant.... I really want to know if it would work that way though, ANYONE ever heard of this?
