So I kicked off my little cab grow today and everyone is in their new home. The soil will be FFOF with layered Happy Frog Bulb Food.

30" x 15" Cab
6" Fan in the back necked down to a 2" PVC Corner blowing into the lower left hand side of the cab. (Thank you for the idea Bubba)
Small 4" fan blowing from the reflector
4 x 26w 2700K CFL
2 x 26w 5000k CFL
Homemade Reflector
Poly cut to fit to top of the 6x6 Hydrofarm Pots

I haven't messed too much with it, Chef but I like it for a VERY simple TLOish style of little grow. I want to make those little Autos as cheap and easy as possible. I'm hoping for a mix of boys and girls. I want some more SEEEEEEEDS. :D

Here are some more pics from today.

NastyNugz VBK day 1 after her little haircut yesterday.

NastyNugz Nerdy Pak.

Another shot of the Nerdy Pak.

LA Woman No. 1.

LA Woman No. 2. Both of these were pretty much Root to Bloom Clones.

And finally a little guy that got launched tonight before he caused problems.

Bubba - The pots are white Hydrofarm Active Aqua pots. I actually picked them up in your neck of the woods at Big Bloomz. I haven't used them before but for the footprint of them I was getting over twice the amount of soil to the plants as the 1 liter Air Pot. Since these little autos won't get over 12" tall these will be their home. I found the little vinyl covers on sale for 50% off at Tagawa's nursery and cut them down to fit the pots. I think it was 40 for less than $5. Not something I would normally buy but since they were on sale I thought they would help keep the soil cooler. Chef brought up that it would be hot in the cab and he was right. I added another fan in there and the plants are just going to have to go back to their roots and grow in Afghanistan as the temps will be high. So far they are doing good. They are in white pots and covered with the white tops so hopefully that will help keep them cooler. It will all be good and an interesting little learning process.

I agree, they are very nice.

My four little autos got cooked last night. I swapped the two 2700k bulbs for 5000k and pulled two of the others so I'm only starting with four bulbs. I may have to rethink this.

Shit! And to think I suggested you run 35w bulbs. I've read that the seedlings are tender at first. You check the temps?

It's all good, I caught it in time and they will bounce back. The 2700k bulbs were smoking hot to the touch and I switched them all out with the 5000k bulbs and I can wrap my hand around them with no problem. They are warm but not smoking hot. I also took out two of the bulbs so I'm just running the four 5000k bulbs now. That spectrum will do fine and with that amount of light at this stage they will do fine, it's pretty dang bright in there.

You can see they are crispy on the tips but they are alive and standing up nice and straight with the second node just fine deep in there. :D

Here is a pic of the UB Topped VBK. It's kicking right back into action. YAY!

Oh, and an isolated Trinidad Scorpion Moruga that's going to be picked tonight. It's the first one of the season. It just looks like pain.

The peppers are anxious to go outside.

That pepper looks evil Kramer. I haven't started my peppers and tomatoes yet.... was going off what the seed packet called for along with CR frost date of mid June.... Should I already have that stuff started?

I'm growing really hot ones.... not... Organic bell peppers :P

Bubba - Chef is right, go ahead and start them now. I grow peppers all the time so don't use me as a gauge of when to start. I just grow all sorts of crap. We even had this huge organic micro garden in the house for my son's Bearded Dragon. That just go too insane so I chopped it all.

Chef - You are totally right. We harvested it this morning and my oldest son (he's 12 and insane about heat) and I ate PART of it, just PART. That thing flat out hurt. A wonderful floral and fruit tasted followed by intense pain. Growing conditions can change the heat levels of peppers and I think that one must have been happy. I would actually put that one over 1m SHU. I'm not some insane pepper guru but I like to grow them and that one really, really hurt. It still does as a matter of fact and my son is still drinking his milk. :)

So a couple of updates. First off I killed three of the little Baby Cough. I just goofed it up right from the beginning with the heat. I got it all fixed now but still at the expense of three plants. One did great so I know that going forward the cabinet will work, now I will just grow them up a little first before sticking them in there. I repotted up the last one standing and it's going under my regular T5 until I get a few more going.

The VBK I topped is going insane and will have two very nice Colas....or an extra stem for pollen if it ends up going that way. :D

My other plants are doing well. The Nerdy Pak is starting to get nice and frosty and the little Root to Bloom LA Woman clones are doing good. Small but good.

Sorry about the heat man. #1 challenge to cab growing is controlling the heat without pushing so much air it turns into a blast furnace... IMO. The N Paki looks great man and that little Kush plant looks too green to be real... Sure that thing isn't plastic :P
