They say that because fruit rot is a big fear - but mostly in commercial agaricus grows, you really don't have to worry about rot if you know the caps will not stay wet for very long becuase of air flow or low humidity. Furthermore you are also looking (if you are casing) to keeping the moisture level of the casing somewhat high as it shouldn't take long after a flush to bring the casing moisture up - you can't just drench it and hope for the best. You have to bring it up gradualy, and if it is already nice and high, it won't take much more to bring it to optimum - you want a total strategy from beginning to end, a part of that is how many flushes you expect, how deep do you case in anticipation of those flushes, how do you manage to get the casing up to the right moisture level just a day or so before your next flush starts.

You need to crush that puppy and spread it as well as you can in some KOWINITE soil bag best shit u can then make a spore print and give it to me so i can have mushies for life k?

Patience is the biggest thing about this. The only other thing that is a very close second is sanitary conditions. You probably noticed from reading alot of these threads that alot of people muck things up mostly by being impatient. That's one thing that doing this really teaches you about. Good luck man. Soon you will be frunked up off your own fungus. Among us.

Pic the opened ones and leave the others. Twist and pull. You can also do a shroomery.org search on harvesting if you need more info. Good times ahead for you buddy. Later.
