In the summer of '72 my mother, sister and I were on vacation in the Appalachian Mountains. We heard about the Peach Tree Festival, a 3 day show at the speedway in Rockingham NC, and Sister talked Mamma into us going to the town, and her going to the show. We saw tons of bands at the hotel we stayed at. I saw trucks for Faces, Three Dog Night and the James Gang, so I know they were there. I swam in the pool with Fleetwood Mac and several others who I was too young to know. MIck Fleetwood is a tall hammer knocker.
Later on my speech teacher turned me on to the Peter Green albums of Fleetwood Mac. Good stuff. Then Play On was their last really good album.

I saw most of the World Series of Rock at the Cleveland stadium 70's early 80's. This was the heyday of Qualuudes and the 'barbitals, so don't ask me specifics

I was born about 5 years too late for all the good bands. I was lucky in that I didn't like how downers made me feel. Other than a few times, I was able to leave them alone. Wish I had been able to do the same with hallucinogens. {I have pretty serious kidney damage due to magic mushrooms. Saved a ton of money on beer and sodas the last 25 years though}

Where I lived, we were close to Michigan also >SilverDome and Cobo Hall. (Kiss, Seger, The Who, Zep, Kool Jazz Festival) and the Toledo Sports Arena. I pretty much burned out on those large venues.

The three towns where I saw shows were Panama City, Tallahassee and Dothan Al. Mostly Dothan, as they had the best bands. We got a lot of Southern rock, but not much else. This was from 78 on. I saw Wet Willie, ARS, Charlie Daniels, Winter Brothers, etc, etc.
