Live Shows

Again. I have to post it. I know many people don't like KISS. But I grew up with them.

I remember trying to listen to Detroit Rock City with my headphones before going to school in Junior High. My father could hear the sound from the turntable in the All In One Television Console. He'd rip those headphone off my head halfway through the song. But he wasn't there when I got home from school and I could listen to the entire album. Mom left me alone with my music. She played the piano and is really good. Music is in my veins. Everything but country. Sorry...

I can't say I'm a huge fan, probably a generation thing as I was born in '84, but I will say Strutter is a damn good tune...so is Detroit Rock City.

Ha.Next time I will separate my posts for maxim likes.

I do like "It's the end of the world as I know it {and I feel fine}" but I posted that one because it was their first college circuit hit.

I used to pick and grin with some random guys on weekends. One of them had a new g/f that was a big REM fan, and she believed herself to be a vocalist. She wasn't. One of my big regrets was showing her b/f the chords and main licks to Losing My Religion and The One I Love, because he then learned more REM on his own, and kept bringing the 'vocalist' along to the jams. It was the end of the jams as we knew it. [ I did not feel fine ]

I can feel your pain.

BIL #2 was a rock and roller. I hung out at a lot of practices in the late 70's and early 80's. {in Longmont and Boulder, as well as here in NW Florida} Wives and girlfriends broke up every band he was ever in. Some were in the bands, some just screwing other band members.

My stupid smiley face can be seen around 29:20 in this one from a few years ago. This year will my 7th time at LOCKN I believe. Shit made me young again. Thanks to my great VA friends!

Yoko. Or maybe Janis ;)
More like Stevie Nicks, but a quarter note further off key, more nasal congestion, and tone deaf to her own shortcomings, so her confidence and commitment to find the soul of the song was never lacking. Imagine Michael Stipe's opening "ohhhh" in Losing My Religion with shrill off key conviction, knowing there's 4 more minutes of that song. Then "others we just worked and are dying to show y'all".

LOCKN is practically in my back yard, give or take 40 miles, and in 9 years being here, I've never made one. But some of my buds have.:weed: :joint:

One of my old touring buddies lives in Charlottesville. Years ago he called and told me about the first LOCKN. I said no thanks, I’m too old, etc. Since then he, our friend from Richmond, and another from CO have gotten together on the farm each year. We have had others join, like my son and nephew, their kids, etc.

The lineups are always exceptional (even the Phish year didn’t suck), the vibe is perfect and fun. We went from a couple tents and tarps to a sweet camper and huge setup.

So, I’m thankful for my C-Ville friend for talking me into it all those years ago. I have been fortunate to see a shit load of bands and made even more friends.

Come on down to the farm in August!

Sounds great, but the only way that could happen is if the Dodgers somehow were out of the pennant race early. I splurge $150 a month for the MLB season ticket package. The combo of joints, brewskis, the recliner, my down the road neighbors that are Braves fans [ the losers] and the game on the big screen is next to impossible to pull me away from. Ask my exes.(:

Found one more. All these are four years old. She is playing bars all the time these days. Not sure why more of her stuff isn't on YT.

I saw them in the early 80's, and the show was nothing to write home about.
I was a huge fan of BOC from the first LP thru 1981's Fire of Unknown Origin, w/ the exception of Mirrors. It's not a coincidence that FoUO was Albert Bouchard's last recording with the band. I met and became good friends w/ Rick Downey at the Spectrum in Philly, who was their lighting director, and would replace Albert on drums. This led to me getting 2 gigs as a 'back' - a roadie that loaded and unloaded equipment on a couple of east coast swings.

I agree w/ you to a certain extent. They kind of became the Bloom and Buck Dharma show after Albert, and Bloom was often cringe worthy as the front man in live shows.
