New pics...had to bust out the zip ties over the last few days and a few gardening stakes b/c the buds on some branches are so heavy, they're falling over themselves. I tried to manipulate the branches into a tight canopy and things are looking good. Trichs are milky and I'm thinking they need another 1-2 weeks. Probably closer to 1 week. I'm waiting until mostly amber with bursting glands...got one of those nifty little magnifiers to pinpoint the proper harvest date. Also, the pop corn nugs are frosting up quite nicely....and lemme tell ya, there's a lot of 'em. If the quality is descent enough, I may not even use them for hash. I might just dry 'em and smoke 'em.

I might be done using nutes through to harvest at this point....leaves are yellowing throughout and I think it's time to let them sap what's left from the plant so I will be giving only ph'd water with floralicous plus until the end.

Humidity is under control between 25-40%. Can't wait to choppy choppy.

also-

you are seeing the proof before your eyes that flushing is bullshit(it does serve a purpose, not this). the plant is yellowing due it's genes telling it it's life is ended. it stopped uptake of ions, and entered itself into the last vestiges. you did nothing.

stop feeding because the plant is done and you don't waste fert's. not because you think it makes the plant yellow. i generally step it down to around 250-300 ppm through the end, making sure to maintain proper calcium and magnesium levels.

Jonny has harvested 1 of the 3 plants which happens to be the vortex. 101 is the dry weight so I did a bit better than I expected. This was the smallest plant of the bunch so I can only imagine how well the other two will turn out....I'm letting them go another week to week and a half....anyways busy busy day today. I already jarred them up for the cure....I plan to let them go as long as I can in the cure jars.

Ok y'all here's the final dry weight...are ya ready for it? 3/4 LB or .56 grams per watt. And lemme tell ya, it's all funk-a-del-ic!

Sorry my camera sucks ball sack but I'm doing the best I can.

IMG00338-20130222-1942.jpgIMG00339-20130222-1943.jpgIMG00340-20130222-1943.jpgIMG00341-20130222-1944.jpg This here is my snazzy $35.00 drying net that I must say is INDISPENSABLE! IMG00342-20130222-1944.jpg On all 4 layers, it holds about 1/2 lb wet....easy drying. Anybody that can't spare $35 for this drying rack is making things harder on themselves.

I just ordered 10 feminized seeds of "AURORA" Indica from Nirvana. The description claims it's their most potent indica so we shall see in the coming months.

A few comments regarding my grow.

A: $150 light bulbs are NOT necessary and are more than likely a waste of money for people with too much cheddar to burn. Why do I say this? First hand experience! I used a $25 hps bulb from htgsupply and I produced funk better than most of anything I've ever seen at a dispensary / collective. This tells me that genetics and attentiveness to your grow are far more important than spending $200 on some stupid ass specialty bulb that you do NOT need.

B: Soil is SUPER easy to grow in compared to other mediums. It is much more forgiving if you don't tend to your garden for days on end as opposed to hydro / NFT / Aeroponics which requires constant monitoring of your automated systems. My soil plant can go a week or more without water before beginning to die...how far will a plant in Aeroponics, hydro, NFT, etc... make it without special attention from the cultivator? Not very far. I like the growth rate of hydro as it is much faster than soil but soil is super duper easy and is very forgiving when you make a little mistake.

C: You do NOT need to buy expensive nutrients. Stay away from advance nutrients like it was the fucking plague...anybody with a horticultural or botany degree would be more than happy to tell you how much AN and companies of their like are nothing but profiteering scam artists who break down every single nutrient into a different bottle they can sell you. I spent less than $50 on nutes and my buds are beautiful, sticky, stinky, compact, heavy, and potent....save your money fellas. I did all this with General hydroponics base nutes + floralicioius plus.

D: I don't know about in hydro systems but flushing is total fucking bullshit in soil. If you simply maintain a rounded feeding regimen and rinse your soil regularly (1x/week), flushing is not necessary. Bad taste of your buds is b/c you are / were too fucking lazy or incompetent to cure them. I have experienced the difference between a dry but and a dry / cured bud....it's like smoking 2 completely different strains. Too many assholes out there get their shit dry and are ready to push it right away instead of doing what needs to be done which is a good solid cure (1 week minimum). Impatience is the red headed ugly step child of growing pot....it will ruin you every time.

Congrats on the nice harvest Jonny! I agree with most of what you said, but I'm not sure I'm with you on the lights. Maybe if we're talking one harvest you could make an argument that lights don't matter that much, but if you plan on using that bulb over the course of a few harvests, you could easily see that a higher end bulb that has a higher initial lumen output and maybe a better spectrum you could add to your grams per watt ratio and EASILY recoup the extra $50 you spent on that light ten fold over the course of 3-4 runs. I agree that you don't have to spend top dollar on the cannabis-specific nutrients, but to me a good bulb is a smart investment.

bulbs -

don't matter. i use the ones from the lectric supply house. phillips ceramalux.

also, i just hang the whole plant. if you keep the moisture up the plant stays alive ingesting it's internal sugars for fermentation.

"bulbs -

So, you don't feel that lumens and spectrum matter?
