This is an iso thread. Why are you here asking a bunch of questions about butane? Isn't that why you started your own thread?

Personally I place my dish in a pan with hot, but not boiling water.When making Iso hash...What is the best way to evaporate the alcohol?Let it sit and evap?....or steam/boil it off?

I'm sorry no disrespect, but YUCK wtf? It really made my stomach flip the thought of an isopropyl dab hitting my Ti nail gunking it up and worse, leaving no sign of resinous oil anywhere in sight. It never got me high, but then again I'm spoiled w co2 concentrate and extract w it almost on a daily basis. Its so affordable to get high like that vs spending $50-$80 a gram for that in a club. Its not worth having an isopropyl thread because it does such a lousy job at selectively removing desired compounds of interest. We want a non-polar based, and a polar solvent in specific minute amounts to complete the spectrum of active constituents in mmj.

That depends on the end use. The simplest is to blow air over it with a fan, until it is ostensibly gone and then adding enough heat (125/140F) to keep the oil liquid for final purging. That doesn't work well in a dusty enviornment, but is pretty fast where possible.When making Iso hash...What is the best way to evaporate the alcohol?Let it sit and evap?....or steam/boil it off?

...I want to smoke it,Fadedawg......I put my trim/fluff bud in a mason jar, cover with alcohol, shake it for sbout 30sec then i pour it through a screen in my pyrex dish.I put a screen over my pyrex dish and let a small fan blow air over it.......i did this overnight then put the dish in a little hot water so it was easier to scrape up and form....it ends up hard like a jolly rancher candy...it turns out ok but nothing to be proud of.......does it sound like im doing it right.Thanks for answering any more input could be useful for me or anyone else trying to make iso hash for the first time.PEACE.

yeah it sound like youre doing it right, rock hard is good for the most part of things.
should be very potent. if it wasnt.. there wasnt much THC to begin with, or all the THC got diluted with other plant junk that you washed out from a possible over wash. but at 30 seconds, I dont think you over rinsed it. im far from an ISO pro though.

so i filled my extractor tube up with God bud probably between 5-6g
Started evaping
Then i waxed that ass
i got back 1.025g but i dont know what the yield % was since i did weight out the buds before i washed them, i just packed the extractor tube up all the way.

4.7g of Ak47xBlueBerry chopped up with scissors
Evaporating
Scraping up, not a bad color
Put it back on low heat
Purging
After i whipped it, and it waxed up
Put it on the scale got back about 0.8g (The slick pad weighs 9.7g)
Thats about 17% Yield
In the dish it goes with an earlier batch of the same strain i made yesterday
In some different lighting
Various waxes from the past 2 days
Later boyz!

heres one for ya. I went to a buddies house one time and he had a little dish like yours, and it looked like butter in it.. it was white, like whiter than yours. and it smelled like oil. he said it was made by running the ISO through activated charcoal or something? have you ISO guys ever heard of that?
I tried it once... made my nice yellow liquid turn completely white and half the amount. pretty sure it took everything. dont think I even finished that batch. used too much charcoal. cant quite remember how that one ended.. hhhmmmm

I don't think I'd wanna do that even if the return was good. Pure THC sounds boring. Terpines add flavor and mystery to the mix. Some studies indicate that terpines not only flavor the taste of the weed, but also interact with cannabinoids to "flavor" the high as well.

Our isomerized oil was hum ho, with strictly THC. As you note, it is the other cannabinoids and terpenes that give oil its character and personality.

Using a Kerr fruit jar, I typically use 20/30 second ISO washes and each of his washes in the video are ostensibly 15 second, plus pumping time.
Three washes are the most I've ever found necessary using a jar, but I've never tried a tube and pump, and each pull was more green than the last (see photo), so seemingly, it is apples and oranges and begs to be experimented with.
Looking at the video, I'm guessing that if we packed a BHO column and flooded it with ISO, instead of butane, and then blew it down with a bicycle pump, we could achieve the same thing without a kit.
Have any of ya'll compared the soak and dump, pour through, and column extraction methods, to see which works best?
