Igotdialup's First Grow CFL

Whats up everyone? I'm new around here but have been browsing forums for the past few months, way before I thought id even be growing. Since I realize growing takes a long time I've become bored and decided to start a journal online to see what others would think, for all I know I will probably need help eventually. Great community here for that kind of stuff :)

So to the point... I'm joining the party late.. and I'm at day 44. Here is some background information though, I started out with about 24 other plants, some died off and i had 16 in the end... they were all bound to little party cups for about a month. Just recently I transplanted the rest outdoors even though its probably too late for them.. I count this year as an experiment. Out of those plants I picked this one that looked pretty sweet and I thought it would do good, since every plant is bagseed. I transplanted that one way before the others into something bigger since I wanted to grow this one indoors, unfortunately it wasn't a pot but only a container slightly larger.. plus the soil I had ended up being shitty so that kinda sucked. ANYWAYS, I just transplanted my plant into its final pot and got a new CFL light.

Soil: hyponex organic soil (cheap .75 , but way better than what i had before)
Lights: 1x 26w daylight CFL and 1x 40w soft white CFL (not much, but it works.) 8/09: 2x 26w DL + 40w SW
Room: Small ass closet, enough for 1 or 2 plants, don't know dimensions.
Ventilation: Window is open throughout most of day, periodic checks and opening of closet everyday. (is this enough?)
Right now its veg and on 24/0 (what about 18/6, should I switch?)

if i forgot something, please ask me

Sorry for the long read , but it makes up for joining late heheh.

Heres some pics. The last one is what I had my baby in before.

Welcome to the forum : your plant looks green and alive and in my book that's good enough for starters. I too am in the process of experimenting with bagseed until I can get my environment the way I want it and the money to invest in seedstock.

Good luck on your grow!

I just checked my plant and I have some lower large leaves that seem to be blocking some lower branches trying to come up, not essentially blocking but making it harder.. my question is, is it okay to snip those leaves? or just let it do its own thing?

I just added another CFL, it may only be temporary until I can get a socket, but its just a lamp i found that I dont want to rip apart. I was thinking about starting flowering sometime this upcoming week. So everything up to today was grown with 2x 26watt daylight CFL, Last night I added a 40watt warm CFL, but had to take down one of my other 26w. Yes there is a thrift store here... I'll have to go check it out sometime.. never thought about it.

You're looking good man. Your budsites could flower at any time but the longer you veg the more bud you will end up with. Keep the pics coming.

Who wants to start making bets on if it will be male or female? I'm starting to get a little worried. overall it has been transplanted twice but I never even broke any many roots or anything, the previous soil I had got so hard when it was dry it was easy to lift it out in the same shape as the container so i just transplanted the whole thing into some better stuff. The most stress its ever had is a little bit of root boundness.

try this. you'll need a power strip, 3-4 CFLs, and those little sockets that have a plug so you can plug them straight into an outlet. plug your CFLs right into the power strip and BAM you have a nice little wall of light. I zip tie the CFLs to the strip just to keep everything secure. you can mount this cheaply with some double sided tape strips.
