I GOTTA LOSE THE AIR PUMPS! HOW?! Plus my awesome mini DWC :)

I use a waterfall on the receiving end and inject my water through 10 small beams from butterfly rainjets in a Tee. My water can last ages, I make sure to innoculate the res with bacteria from my aquarium filters. Once in a while, I will run pool shock, just to be sure.,
I know for sure bacteria stops the root rot. I do notice my ppm climbs about 50 per day, and I have to lower my ph daily, it usually hikes up about 4. I think this is probably due to the high temps, because I never have problems in the winter when I have more control, then I use PH down every 2-3 days. I have a small aquarium chiller coming.

What aquarium chiller did you purchase?

Wasnt so much the sound for me, if I can achieve optimal DO levels with less watts and having to deal with air hoses/stones, then I'm sold.

I think the advantage has more to do with churn and breaking up any film that might form on the surface.

Achieving 100% saturation isn't difficult.

there are ways to make waterfalls quiet. It does lose a bit of its effectiveness of refreshing deeper water though.

Since running the 1/2" barbed 90 degree into the buckets I've changed mine up a bit, instead I ran 1/2" PVC 90 cap with 3 holes drilled into it so it drives the waterfall deeper into the bucket. Working out quite well so far.

I wondered if that would work. Good to know!

The sound is soothing- people pay a lot of money for those silly little fountains with the rocks in them to get the same noise lol

It is cute when you have like one tank... I run 3 reservoirs and some aquariums and a dehumidifier and fans, the grey noise level in my house must be approaching 60db

I've thought about attaching one of my DIY venturi valveson to the 90 barb to extend down to the bottom of the buckets. That would completely quiet the waterfalls and still give you Max DO.

Yeah I suspect if people start cycling their reservoirs with ammonia as you do before adding fish, they won't have issues
I was starting to think i was the only one seeding denitrifying bacteria. Not the same as hydrogaurd etc but produces the same result and thrive in aquatic conditions unlike hydrogaurd which strain are a little more temperamental but still doable in aquatics. I adjust for partial water changes and run a canister filter with bio media like sponges and ceramics. Most people aren't willing to wait 4-6weeks for this bacteria to develop or have tanks running to seed. I think as time goes on more people will catch onto this and the culture of water changes will change.

Personally i don't think its the waterfalls allowing higher water temps i feel its the bacteria in a healthy system. From personal experience the less you fuck with shit the better, the smaller the change the better etc etc.
