So are sprayers? Aerponic style? Wonder if that would add more oxygen. Maybe I don't understand, but building a waterfall doesn't seem practical. Not happy with any solutions, none speak to me anyway. I'm gonna have to spend either way. Suucks.
I used flexible tubing so I could rearrange the buckets easily. That's pretty sweet though.
I believe it does better with higher water temps than air stones because its breaking water surface, and its cycling back. I use a 600gph pump so I move a lot of water in short time. But keep in mind, you always run the risk of something bad once you start getting over 72+ degrees water temps.
If you're doing any water culture, it needs to (in my opinion) be chilled for massive and healthy growth. Aeroponics is my next venture for mom area. That and flood and drain are only two that don't need chillers.

I deliberately run higher temps with LED lights. The waterfalls performed very well.
I used to think this but my plants told me differently.
I tested this by deliberately introducing water from rotten roots into my system. Exactly nothing happened.
What are your water temps?
All I know, is in the mom setup I've used with 10gal low profile totes, the roots get down into the water, happily, then get going but after a while turn brown and stringy, and rot. The plants are healthy but the roots are definitely not. And with chillers, I see nothing but white, solid, fish bones.
Are you running waterfalls?
Not in the totes. Air pumps. Switching it to aero
I've taken a lot of flak about waterfalls but the bottom line is that they work.

Ya and I agree at 71-72 you can get by. But at 67-68 I see massive improvement. Just my opinion.
I use a waterfall on the receiving end and inject my water through 10 small beams from butterfly rainjets in a Tee. My water can last ages, I make sure to innoculate the res with bacteria from my aquarium filters. Once in a while, I will run pool shock, just to be sure.,
