Cool!
Thanks for the responce.
I wanted to see where you were at with them before commenting.

I have run ffof with a large variety of nutes over the years.
I go water only for the 1st 5 weeks with ffof then top dress with earthworm castings and a balance dry organic fertilizer.

I like that you plan on feeding only big bloom at the beginning.
It is the safest feed to give. The other two need to be given with care.
Big grow can easily cause a nitrogen tox if used to soon.
Tiger bloom is best not to be used till flower and only in small amounts during the stretch. More can be used at the end of the stretch.

I'm basing this on memory of using them during a grow.
I use nothing but dry organic amendments these days.
With another 20 grows under your belt, if you continue with soil growing you will likely evolve to new ways of feeding. The fox farm trio will sit off to the side available for emergencies.
LOL I get what you mean about the occasional anger. You may here it for using bottled nutes at some point lol but it's all good.
Best of luck!
yeah man, i'm already looking at other methods of feeding... there are these teas... top dressings and korean natural farming, that i've been interested in.
i follow a lot of growers and genetics on instagram.. so like you said -everything- is slowly changing, im constantly learning new things. royalqueenseeds post a lot of good stuff.
Last grow was the first time i've ever tried LSTing, totally blew my mind...
i also let one plant stay bushy and found out how tall of plants my HPS can handle(green leaves just started falling off at a certain height and only on this plant). this plant also produced 25 - 30g's less than the other 6 lollipopped plants and had a slightly different smell.
I've come to do my best to see from both sides of a story... as far as i'm concerned everyone and no one is right.. we all do things differently..

update..... seedlings day 7.
the LED ladies look much nicer and are bigger so far.
one of them is a little gimpy.

the HPS plants are a bit smaller. but not by too much.
one of them is also gimpy. more so than the LED gimp.

being gimpy doesn't mean anything yet, from my experience!

things to take note of...
The temp of the room is 75
under the LEDs is about 75degrees
under the HPS the temp is about 82 - 84
the HPS plants are also drying out much faster than the plants under LEDs because of the heat.

on the scale of HPS vs LED, this personal experiment has just began.. but for me, its already tilting in favor of the LEDs.

day 12! I started lst 2 days ago. the pictures are from 2 days ago, though. i took off the big fan leaves.
one plant had a nice leaf about the size of my hand already on the led side. it was pretty impressive. the plant in picture 2356 is the biggest and growing the fastest. i will be topping this one a few times, i believe, in order to keep it the size i'm going for. also the lights will be switched when this plant gets to 5 inches tall at the end of the LST.
other than that, they are currently all nicely sized, a small cluster. ill take pictures in a few days.

Nice work Bro!
Don't worry about the one with the funky leaves.
That looks genetic and sometimes they continue to grow that way no matter what you do.

Run clones for a true test this ent gonna prove nothing all seeds grow differently
thanks for your opinion, ive been told many many times already.
someone may find it useful even though they are not clones.
haha maybe, if you do want to watch but the clone thing is bugging you, you can just pretend all my plants are random clones and i have no idea what strain they are supposed to even come close to being or smell like in the in the first place.
that's basically the same as what i'm doing, to you, right?
anyways, thanks again for you opinion.
please do not post anything else.
you also don't have to watch/follow..
there are other places to debate this, on this website.

Lol yeaaaah, i figured it may just be a mutant. im just going to let that one... do its thing... maybe top it.. but other than that i'm not going to touch it too much unless it "improves". i really just hope it still matches the any of the terpenes im looking for.
the red dragon is supposed to smell like strawberries, honey and grapefruit.
and the chocolate haze is well... chocolate, maybe a little fruity and like dirt.
Laughing buddha is supposed to be spicy and sweet.

There will still be some signs of each lights benefits. There’s already a huge amount of data available. People get confused when comparing data from 10-5years ago on LEDs (the tech has come a long way quickly). Either way you should have a place to log your data freely this is a forum. Good luck bud

Yeah, i've been a member of this site for nearly 10 years... I looked up and continue to look up and learn about everything i can that has to do with growing. a lot of it i feel is one sided and doesn't do a whole lot of comparing... just trying to make you pick one over the other, instead of explaining to you or showing you how the different lights affect your grow in the different ways.. just like the random people of all growing sites do..
So.. i attempted to try to take all the info i could that didn't feel one sided. i found out that growers that are focusing on terpenes and effects... rather than just their yields.. use both or all the different lights in their hunt.
but they don't explain how or why that is happening or have a blog about why they are doing what they are doing.
(probably to keep techniques a secret) which i understand... It has all just made me what to do this side by side run.
I've got a lot of things i've read about that people religiously argue about, that i want to try for myself....

Day 9 of Flower.
The plant with the funky leaves was the first to show her flowers and her leaves have started to look like normal pot leaves.
The stretch is on point. I'll be slowly doing some lollipopping during the remaining days until its over.
After day 21 i will just be watering/feed them and watching them do their thing!
Their heights are around 6 - 9 inches.. Im hoping for another 4 inches.(that's what she said):bigjoint:

These are pictures of day 14 of flowering, everything is going great. The stretch is on point. So far I'm happy with the genetics. The stacking is great. The plant with the wonky leaves at the beginning is going to be one fat bud. It has the most bud sites and they are all close together. All the plants are making me happy, though.

5:20 am i started germ(paper towel method)
the 3 strains i am beginning are
3 Laughing Buddha
3 Red Dragon - Both from Barney's Farm
3 Chocolate Haze - Royal Queen Seeds.
as soon as seeds pop they will be transfer into either solo cups or final home (3 gallon smart pots). i have not decided, yet...

5 plants will be under 4 hps lights that totals 600watts(150w each)
4 Plants will be under RapidLED.com's 2x4 5 Cree CXB3590 3000k cob leds that totals 315watts. (Recommended by many genetics/growers.. massmedical, royalqueen, etc.)
they will start and finish under their specific lights and will be kept separate.
no CLF or supplemental lights..
I will be using Fox Farm Ocean Floor And the Fox Farm line of nutes.
(i really like fox farm)
according to what i have read i should get 1g - 1.5g per watt from the LEDs
according to my other grows I've gotten a little bit more than .5g per watt with HPS.
Total Weight Goal - around 615g. 315 - LED 300 - HPS
Maximum height i want is 24"
Goal height is between 15" - 20"...
I have never grown under LEDs before.

As soon as there is something to post i shall post it!!
Feel free to comment or ask questions or give advice during this grow.
2 pics 027.JPG these are all six hundred watt HPS , medium producer Kentucky skunk ,
Hydro , organic hydro on the right produced 2.5 lbs per 600 watt and 3 lbs per 600 watt bulb the other side using synthetic nutrients.
I appreciate you doing a side by side test run , but the LEDs will never get the intensity to push the light deep into the plants where you get your production from.
If the LED every gets to the point the have single bulbs that can push 1000 watts or 600 watts then we will be doing something ,

When i take side pictures of the whole plant with my camera i can actually see the different light penetration, i use the same shutter speed and aperture for both sides, the difference between HPS and LED is a preeeetty big one.(my newest pictures kind of show exactly what you're talking about.)
2.5lbs per 600 watts sounds INSANEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!:shock:! i feel like have to keep the plants tiny to get a big yield, i have grown taller plants but never i have trained them to stay very short... my 600watts is split between 4 150watts lamps... i'm not sure how much a difference smaller lamps make but 1gpw would still be 1.5 lbs or so....
i only got 315g from my 600 watts, which is why i feel like the plants needed to be smaller with more colas even with each other because perfectly fine green leaves were literally just falling off at the halfway point of the plant(i left one plant rather bushy on my last grow to see how far the light penetrated on my 3ft plant and what happened if i just completely left it alone instead of lollipopping.. it produced around 40 less grams than the plants beside it..)

my next grow, i will probably use both again since i have them but the training will be much much different.. still short.. but much older. these plants were 25 days old when i flipped them. so i will be very very happy if i only get a little more than an oz from each plant this round in 85 - 90 days total or so.

first way to step up your game is hire a skip bin every bit of led light u have toss it in the skip then replace with hps or cmh lecs

u can clearly see that the hps at this point will out perform the leds as u can see the nice bud site 2nd the led grow looks like every led grow i have seen in veg leds veg awesome but round week 4-5-and 6 there is going to be major issues were the hps will leave the led for dead

I just cant wait to see. it is pretty exciting(for me atleast). everyone keeps telling me opposite things, i keep reading and finding things that just cross each other out.. but it is really cool seeing the differences.
I hope it isnt tooooo drastic of a difference between them... they all grew at about the same rate except for one really sativa pheno that came out of ONE plant on the led side. thing grew so fast.... i can see myself combining the two in a future grow.
maybe one day i will use clones..
